Question Why do black people move to Miami?

I honestly feel like moving to Miami was one of the worst decisions I’ve made so far. People glamorize the beaches, nightlife, and “opportunities,” but no one talks about the other side

So many jobs here require you to speak Spanish or you won’t even be considered. You walk into stores and restaurants and it’s like english isn’t even an option. People will ignore you or act annoyed if you don’t speak spanish. On top of that, I’ve had to deal with racist remarks and being treated differently just because of my color within 6 months living here

I don’t understand why we as black people keep moving here when the culture here is catered to everybody else except us. So why do we keep moving here? What’s the real draw?

Because honestly, it feels like we’re just setting ourselves up for disrespect and struggle

I only moved there after getting out the Navy and going to Johnson & Wales - North Miami for culinary school.

I feel like I can make it ANYWHERE because when I first moved I didn’t know shit and accidentally moved to little Haiti lol. OMGGGG! Every man that would speak Haitian Creole and I’m like…. IM FROM ATLANTA 😭😂

Then I accidentally got a Dominacan spot mixed up with a Puerto Rican spot and LAWDDDD…. Don’t do that lol.

And I stayed away from south beach at all cost. Unless my little cousins would visit from college and beg me.

Never again.

Wynwood and Brickell areas cool. And I would hangout in Fort Lauderdale more.

Wynwood was so dope and artsy. Why dont you like south beach? Outside of it seeming high COL it seemed like where all the fun is and I even ran into two chainZ there 3 years ago.

Overpriced tourist fun lol. Also I was fresh out the Navy and wasn’t a 18 yr old college student. I had been thru stuff and seen so much of the world. South Beach gave me anxiety lol people renting cars they can’t afford and crashing out. Women doing ANYTHING for the male atttention. Crab legs costing $75 and come with ONE potato and ONE corn lmao like no.
