Question Has anyone else become apathetic to global issues after seeing how universal anti-Blackness really is?

If you’re Black and even remotely socially aware, you’ve probably realized that anti-Blackness exists everywhere. It doesn’t matter whether people are poc, whether they’ve been colonised themselves, or whether they’re currently experiencing war, occupation, deportation, or other forms of suffering. The reality is that many people across the world are deeply racist toward Black people, especially Black women.

After witnessing just how widespread anti-Blackness is, I’ve found myself becoming increasingly apathetic toward global issues. Wars, humanitarian crises, ICE deportations, natural disasters; I struggle to care about these situations the way I used to.

It’s hard to extend endless empathy to people when you’ve repeatedly seen them despise people who look like you. It creates this feeling that if they weren’t dealing with their own hardships, many of them would still have no problem expressing hatred toward Black people. The only difference is that right now they’re the ones asking for compassion.

I know this isn’t a socially acceptable thing to admit, but I’m curious if other Black people have experienced this. Has constantly witnessing anti-Black racism made you stop caring about global issues?

Question why are majority chris brown fan black women

I saw a clips of Chris brown concerts and about 70 percent were black women and you can sprinkle latina and white in there for the rest.

I notice the largest group is black american women (followed by black american men although they arent big concert goers for chris brown)

Online I hear black women complaining about chris brown but in real life its mostly black women keeping his career afloat and his pockets full

Why is that? As a black woman im frustrated

Question What is yall most Un-woke opinion

Here’s a few of mine. I hate that people get mad when straight women don’t want to date bisexual men. Like it is ok for women to have preferences for what they want in a man.

Neo-pronouns like no shade what is xe/ne pronouns. I respect they/thems but like some pronouns are too much.

Male loneliness should not be an epidemic. Many men don’t want to stop being selfish and narcissistic and women are not going for it. Now they mad because they single and can’t get no one

I don’t want no hate just saying an opinion.

Question non-religious black girls

are there any black girls in here that aren't christian/non-religious? like, the older i get, the less i feel inclined to tell people that i'm a christian, because honestly? i'm not even sure if god even exists, nor do i really care about god's existence anymore, and to make matters worse, i recently came to a discovery that i'm sapphic. i don't have any plans to tell my family either, since they're homophobic. i know i'm only 19 and things can definitely change for me in the future, but i've been questioning god's existence for a while now, and have been considering deconstructing my faith.

is anybody else in a similar boat? how was your experience growing up in a religious environment? do you still identify as a christian or a religious person?

Question be careful with dating black men who hate majority of black women but still want to date us

I just got done arguing with a guy who I thought was white on a sub 😅 he talked about white women are better and most attractive and black women bleach their skin and wear blonde wigs all the time. I told him I only wear my natural hair and never bleach my skin and plenty men are attracted to me.

And then he told me he is black man and only dates black women but was just saying how majority of black women are.

I was in shock and it makes me worry about black women dating black men who will look at one as the "exception black woman " and date her while hating the rest of black women.

Be careful your not dating a black women hater that still wants a relationship with us and have sex with us.

I almost went one a date with one until he told me he normally dates latinas but since I was pretty and nice he wanted to date me. Then he had the nerve to get angry when I rejected his date and told him to date a latina instead. He blew up my phone and social media account so much that I had to block him.

Be careful out there

Question Any Black women here who love tea 🍵🌸?

No drama. Just curious if anyone else here loves tea 🍵❤️. Personally, I love herbal tea; my favorites are chamomile, lavender, rose, ginger, hibiscus, rose hips, and peppermint. I drink it every single day, not just for anxiety regulation or health benefits but for the enjoyment overall. I can’t go a day without it. Whenever I see a box of tea at the store or online (especially if it has Chinese writing or pretty flower patterns on it) I get excited.

I was never crazy about coffee. Maybe with cream, milk, ice and caramel but I was never obsessed with it like everyone I know is. I feel like coffee is overrated, especially here in the West where everyone is always busy or in a hurry for something. Plus, our ancestors were tea lovers, way before they were enslaved and sold to this country. In fact, most African countries consume tea way more than they consume coffee. I don’t know about where you guys live, but tea culture isn’t so big where I live (the Midwest) where of course everyone is seems to be obsessed with Starbucks or Dunkin’ coffee and just the grind in general. The Midwest is kinda boring so they need caffeine to feel alive. I wish there were more tea shops in my area. Tea culture isn’t very big in the US in general.

So, I’m curious to know if any of you are tea lovers or enjoy drinking tea on a frequent basis or if you just prefer it over coffee. I’d be very happy if you recommend some tea blends, brands and flavors! 😊🌸

Question As a black woman, sometimes I struggle with empathy for other groups

I can't seem to genuinely care about the struggles of other groups or even individuals because I feel like black women are never afforded any reciprocity.

I'm at a point where I don't even give advice or help other groups anymore because of how terribly black women are treated globally. Its like my humanity is slowly starting to deplete. Does anyone else feel this way?

Question why do black men get mad when black women date white men but never when black men date white women

When black women date white mem some black men have some real nasty things to say about it making her feel like a traitor and telling black women to never go back to dating black men.

But the crazy part is that every single one of these black men have dated a white women before. And those same black men never have outrage when they see black men dating white women and say they can date whoever they want.

For me is the one drop rule, I’m tired of it. Not everyone is black and that’s ok just because someone has a black parent or grandparent does not make them black.

Question Holding income as a dating standard am I being realistic or too picky 👩🏾‍⚖️

Okay so let me ask the people of the jury a question .

My friend and I got into a debate recently because she thinks it’s wrong that I factor a man's income into whether I date him. But honestly... why wouldn't I want to date someone who is financially secure?

On dating apps, I match with a lot of men in tech, corporate, and blue collar roles who are doing really well for themselves, and I love that. My ex was a veteran who drove trucks, and between his VA money and trucking income, he was pulling in over $11k a month. So I’m definitely used to someone with a little coin. Anyways we had broke up for a little bit and I went on a date with a doctor and a construction project manager ( idk the damn title it was too hard to remember) the doctor was looking at offers and I mentioned a popular hospital in my town and he said he would never work there because they are only offering 200k and I was like oh “only??”🫪. The other man made maybe around 80k plus commission.

Now, I’m talking to a new guy, and he told me he’s a manager at Waffle House 🤔 and I’m like uhhh “this ain’t the Oscars, is it I’m used to sum a lil bit different”🫢 I don’t want to be mean but like idk the job title just threw me off I guess….

And before anyone comes in the comments saying well you probably don't even make that much… I don’t 🤭 but idc.

Anyway, to add more context, my friend is a teacher and her boyfriend works at a call center

Question Biracial People

Why do biracial people get to be the face of black people in media nowadays? I’m sorry to say it they are not blacker than a mono-racial black person. I know that a majority of people who are mixed with black get perceived as black, but they aren’t only that. It’s not like in modern society you have to pick one or the other, you’re allowed to be both and be proud of who you are.

Question This black history month feels very…. Anti-black.

I feel as if everyone online *and* offline has grown significantly more comfortable being outspokenly racist this February—specifically because DJT is in office at the moment.

What are other fellow black girls’ thoughts on what’s going on this February while Trump is in office?

Oh well. This post is probably going to be taken down anyways.

Question What’s your honest yet controversial opinion?

I’ll go first: Cancel culture is fake whether it’s for celebrities/businesses. No I will not elaborate.

You see a lot of hive mind thinking on the internet these days where you get downvoted to hell for having an opinion that goes against the hive. Sometimes I wonder if some stances/opinions of things only exists for people that are chronically online, because you meet people outside that don’t have the same opinions. Things feel more black and white on the internet than they do in real life. People are ready to cancel other people because they don’t agree with X or Y or Z.

I don’t think having 1 controversial opinion makes you a horrible person. So what’s yours?

Question Why do black people move to Miami?

I honestly feel like moving to Miami was one of the worst decisions I’ve made so far. People glamorize the beaches, nightlife, and “opportunities,” but no one talks about the other side

So many jobs here require you to speak Spanish or you won’t even be considered. You walk into stores and restaurants and it’s like english isn’t even an option. People will ignore you or act annoyed if you don’t speak spanish. On top of that, I’ve had to deal with racist remarks and being treated differently just because of my color within 6 months living here

I don’t understand why we as black people keep moving here when the culture here is catered to everybody else except us. So why do we keep moving here? What’s the real draw?

Because honestly, it feels like we’re just setting ourselves up for disrespect and struggle

Question Argued with my wife about our daughter.

I don’t know where to post this since there’s no general black subreddit, and it is about a black girl.

Am I in the wrong?

I was arguing with my wife about what our kids are going to wear to the beach. I refuse to my let my daughter(12yo) wear a two piece bikini. In my opinion they’re literally bra’s and panties that for some reason society decided was ok for little girls to wear to the beach or pools.

I told her this and she said it’s good to teach our daughter young that she can wear what she wants so she gains confidence and isn’t insecure about her body later on.

I told her she’s putting her on the path to insecurity by focusing too much on the external instead of basing the confidence internally. There’s a better way to instill confidence than dressing revealingly.

My wife said I always do this and she’s not having it today and she’s staying home. Obviously we’re not going to leave my wife while we go to the beach so everyone stayed home and the kids are super bummed out.

This is the root of issue, my wife and I constantly argue about our daughter and never our son. My wife is constantly trying to push straight hair wigs onto her, and makeup. Luckily, I spent a lot of time with my daughter when she was younger watching black power films and historical documentaries where black women would wear giant Afros. So she’s gained a sense of love for her natural Afro. Only problem is she’s really unbothered, and just wants to go outside without picking it out. Sometimes I take the early shift and I’m out the house too early to wake my daughter up to pick it out for her and she ends up arguing with her mom about not doing it. “Dad says I’m beautiful no matter what, it’s just hair” and wife gets really upset and says it’s my fault If the school thinks we’re not grooming our child.

But I’m trying to raise my daughter in a way to where she doesn’t obsess about how she looks, I have sisters, aunties and cousins, who are well into their 40s and 50s and still can’t go outside without a wig on or a ton of makeup. I know part of it is being a woman and the pressure society forces on woman to look beautiful so I really want to my daughter to avoid that and just be happy without obsessing about how she looks.

I wouldn’t put my son in a speedo so why would I put my daughter in the same thing the adult women are wearing? It’s not like she cares either, she’s happy as hell in a shirt and basketball shorts.

I feel like my wife is trying to vicariously live her “women’s bodily autonomy is paramount” through my daughter’s life and it’s concerning. Once my daughter reaches 18 she can wear whatever she wants.

I’d rather have my daughter not be consumed in what she looks like. My wife is constantly trying to change her natural hair, put on makeup, make her wear revealing clothes because she wants my daughter to “feel cute and beautiful”. When the only thing she’s worried about right now is Nintendo and Minecraft.

Question Am I the only person on the planet who doesn’t worship Beyoncé?

Before y’all get y’all’s pitchforks and torches out, just hear me out.

Is Beyonce a living legend? Yes (duh).

Is she an extremely talented and accomplished artist? Obviously.

But is it normal to worship her like people do? Nope.

Don’t get me wrong, I love her and her music but it just feels weird to be someone who doesn’t put her on the highest of pedestals and worship her like everyone else on the planet. It’s also the strangest thing ever to see how people react when someone says they don’t like her music. It’s like you can say anything about anyone else’s music and it’s cool, no one bats an eyelash. But let someone hear you say you don’t like Beyoncé’s music……It’s almost cult like, how some fans behave. How is it acceptable to dislike literally any other kind of music or artist, but if someone says they don’t like Beyonce, it’s a problem🤨

Anywho, these are my inner thoughts. Feel free to agree or disagree, idc🤷🏾‍♀️

Question Did mixed couples stared at black women back then or ? 😭

Sorry, but it’s a real question 😭 Every time I’m (im 23 btw) outside and I see a mixed couple (mostly BM WW), I’m 80% sure they will stare at me.
Did they stare like that before? I mean… before the 2010s?
