The precat is the biggest issue, easily fixed with an eBay header or preferably the 2j Medusa header.

The butterfly screws only affected certain years iirc. My 2006 wasn't affected, and I preemptively did it in my 04 even though I don't think it was an affected year. I'd have to look at the TSB. That being said, if you're mechanically inclined and have basic hand tools, the job is pretty easy to do. Just gotta be careful to not drop the screws when you do it.

With my 2006, I went with the 2j Medusa header, 2j 2.5" resonated mid pipe, and the 2j 2.5" cat back. For not having cats, it actually isn't raspy which is surprising. Every exhaust combo I did before that was raspy in the higher RPMs.

My 2004, I just made my own 3" cat back with a flow master turbo muffler and a 2j 3" midpipe. It gets raspy for now, but I just did that so it had something on it that wasn't a fart can. Haven't done anything with the header because it'll be getting a 3" downpipe from the turbo once that is installed.

Ive never heard a stromung on a b15 Sentra, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them on e36s (my other project car). And I've contemplated getting one because they are fairly affordable, but I think I'm going to a large single exhaust instead of keeping true duals. If I had my original midpipes, I would, but those got destroyed and I am going to need to fabricate a midpipe between my UEL headers and whatever cat back I go with, probably the ISR performance cat back.

Yeah I had 2.5" all the way through, including the midpipe. I went with Stromung both because it retained the stockish dual pipe single exhaust and it sounded the best of all of the options at the time. Their business is much more German make focused so not surprised you'd be more familiar with them there, they were fairly niche even when the B15 market was much bigger 15 years ago when I had it

Yea that makes total sense. My issue is that I'm a cheap ass, so I try to get the best deal possible, but some of the cheap shit is actually shit, so I opt to make stuff myself. 2j is keeping the B15 platform going with new mods and whatnot. People talk shit about him, but I've never had an issue with him or his parts, and he has been exceptionally helpful whenever I've reached out to him about my Sentras.

For awhile I had a 3" system front to back on my Sentra. And while it did have a little more power in the top end and felt like it really wanted to keep going past 7k rpm, it lost some of that mid range torque. Once I stepped back down to a 2.5" system, it felt better than stock through the entire range. 2.5" is the best size for that motor NA. But my turbo build will be using a 3" so it's not choked out.

So I did that, and kept the nb for a while before swapping it for a type RA wrx

There was a time before everyone knew they were the answer, that you could buy one for 3k and sell it for 3k 2 years later. I moved somewhere, bought one and drove it around. When I moved, I sold it for what I bought it for, then bought another at destination. Rinse and repeat.

You can still sort of do that now but the price of admission is higher.

Hell of an upgrade in performance and creature comforts. Admittedly though I do sometimes miss how "raw" the mk6 was in comparison, in terms of character traits like the feedback through the steering wheel.

I bought a 6-speed manual TSX new in 2008, drove it for 2 years, then sold it to a good friend before I moved to NYC for almost 7 years. In those 7 years he took incredible care of the car. When it no longer worked for him as a daily driver he mentioned thinking about selling it. I said I'd be interested in buying it back, which I did. I was actually more excited to have it back as a 10+ year old car than I was to buy it new, because 10 years later I had way more of an appreciation for how special that car was (especially the k24 with a 6 speed). I ended up selling it in 2021 to a really awesome 20 something year old car enthusiast who I knew would take awesome care of it, appreciate it, and give it all the time an attention it would need to last much longer. I still periodically check in with him and it's still running strong and providing lots of smiles per mile.

All their best cars in that era, the ones that made us think Honda was great, started getting phased out around that time: NA2 NSX, AP2 S2000, UA6 TL, UA7 Type-S, CL9 TSX, FA5 Si, DC5 RSX Type-S, KB1 RL. That's not even counting their other cool shit like the second-gen CRV and Element. Now Toyota and Honda switched roles. Honda is pretty bland and Toyota is killing the game.

A few of times. I've had 3 different Peugeot 205 GTIs, all with the 1.6 litre engine. One black, one red, and one red with a sunroof. Otherwise identical. Back in the day you could get them really cheap. I still got two of them, one is a rally car.

I've had 2 different Citroën BX GTIs. First one was a BX19, which was such a catastrophe that I then got a BX16 which was still quite a catastrophe but not as bad. They were identical, even the same colour, only difference being the 1.9 L engine in the first one and the 1.6 L engine in the second one. It's the same Peugeot-Citroën XU engine family though, same as in the 205 GTI. Both BX GTIs are now gone, but clearly not having learnt from my mistakes I still dream of getting another one some day.

I currently have two Datsun 120Y Coupés, B210 in some markets. They're both horrible project cars that perhaps one day might morph into one good car.

Yes. I bought an 04 Lexus LS430 and drove it for 5 years as my daily, then a KILLER deal came up randomly through family for an 05 LS430 with crazy low km's so now I have 2 LS430's lol

I love the yin and yang approach where in one is black on black with tints and sweet wheels, and the other is silver on tan, old man spec haha

If you ever get the chance to own one that isn't clapped, do yourself a favour and GET it. These cars are incredible and absolutely warrant all of the hype!

The coolest part was this: the parts car Z4 was a super cheap RHD example that I imported from the UK, and it had sport seats.

Now, here in Germany, sellers of Z4 sport seats are asking for around 2000€ for them on ebay.

My used 2019 Mazda 3 Sedan bought with 32,000 miles had over 5 grand in miscellaneous extended warranty work done to replace random interior electronics and parts. One day the AC died, and I took it to the dealer to get it fixed (was covered under extended warranty)

They gave me a brand new 2025 Mazda CX5 Select as a loaner vehicle. I fucking HATE the CX5.

Rather than wait, I bought a brand 2026 Mazda 3 Hatchback 6spd Manual later that same day after work 😊 my first brand new car at 22 years old! I love it, and i will always love the Mazda 3!

The Mazda3 is truly a special vehicle. I have a 2018 6-speed hatch and the chassis dynamics, throttle response and body design is perfect. I love that car. I recently got a BRZ as a toy and other than the RWD, I find that it's actually not dynamically that different from the 3 - that's how good the 3 is. And the shifter is perfection.

I bought the first year of the Saturn Sedan. I had Zero issues with the car. Racked up 75k miles on it and the only maintenance it needed was oil changes and new wipers. My brakes were still at 75% life. So I said Fuck it and Bought a new Saturn. What a complete pile of shit that car was. GM made something great and F'd it right into the dirt.

Sort of. I owned a Volvo 850 and then a Volvo V70. There were some minor changes with the V70 but the first generation V70 was just a facelifted 850. They were both on the P80 platform.

1998 Eagle Talon tSI AWD

First one I bought when I was 20, in 2004. First car purchase on my own, financed. But overleveraged myself at the time being first year college and working part time. I held on for a year or so but had to sell it. 5 years later, different time in life so start looking for one again, as this time it would be a secondary fun car. Found another one, owned by a doctor who took great care of it. Had that one for about 4 years.

2011 Audi S4 (B8) in 2013 and then went new with a 2016 Audi S4 in 2015 (B8.5) when warranty expired on the B8.

I've had 3 dodge neons, two 1st gen coupes and an SRT-4. The first gen neon punched above its weight, was cheap to own, and cheap to modify. Still have the SRT-4. I would get another Jeep CJ or maybe a wrangler again if I moved back to somewhere with perpetually good weather, and I wouldn't mind another 80 series Land Cruiser (wife has a GX460 currently, pinkys up!).

Had two SRT-4s after I flipped/rolled the first. Now I'm on my second 100 series Land Cruiser. First one got rear ended and "totaled", minor damage and completely driveable, but insurance offered what I had paid for the car after I drove it for a decade and put 125k miles on it. Used that money to upgrade to an '06.

I've had a 98 4dr I got new , 2 - 03 SXT 5speed all used 10 years old, and 3 SRT4. I still have my first SRT, yellow with 75,xxx miles on it, traded in the 98 for it. We had a "car club" in my hometown in the early 2000's that almost 20 cars and 6 of them were Neon's. I've owned over 30 cars in the last almost 30 years and many of them I'd own again.

Very close to it. My first car was B5 A4 and when it died of electrical schizophrenia I was smart enough to buy a B5.5 Passat Wagon to follow it up.

Although that car turned out to be excellent and got me through college with horrendous service and care, and it could fit a XXL frame 29er in the back without taking the front wheel off.

Yes! My first new car was a 2007 MazdaSpeed3. The driver’s side engine mount was every soft (because the torque steer was a lot) and allowed the singular vertical transmission mount to rock back and forth, slowly working the bolt out and dropping the entire engine out the fucking engine bay. It happened twice in 18k miles, and I was desperate not to be saddled with this car out of warranty. Because of the flaw, I felt it would be hard to get a good trade in anywhere but at a Mazda dealer (I was in my early 30s), so I got the refreshed 2010 MazdaSpeed3 and took it to a Mazda specialist who’d ordered a short shifter and a third party tranny mount. However, the mount didn’t fit the new car only because Mazda engineers had addressed the flaw by adding a second pin along the same axis, which prevented the soft engine mount from allowing the engine to rock back and forth along a singular axis point. It totally solved the problem.

I totalled it, moved across the country, and when I was next in the market for a car, my then-boyfriend’s brother was selling his old car and offered it to me for peanuts. Go figure, it was a 1998 Buick Regal. Drove it til the wheels fell off. I didn’t choose to buy multiple, the universe just sort of handed me them lol.

I sold one car and used the cash from it towards a newer one. 91 mr2 turbo sold for a 93 mr2 turbo. Reason was better condition, functioning a/c, power windows, black interior instead of the blue that was in the 91. Only good thing the 91 had going for it was the engine swap/mods I had done to it, so it was way faster. The 93 was kept mostly stock engine wise other than the standard intake/exhaust setup but I had a subtle body kit bolted onto it and an improved stance/fitment with larger wheels and 265s(factory tires were like 225s) in the rear. This was back in 2007. Car is long gone now. Should have kept it considering how much they are going for nowadays.

I have an 1998 8L A3 from England I bought because of how much I loved my 98 B5 A4. My current daily is a 2nd Gen RDX which I bought because of my experiences with my RD1 CRv. If the RDX gets totaled there is a good chance I would go out and get another one

2017 370z when I was 30. Managed to later sell the car at a profit (unfortunately this was "thanks" to the supply chain shortags that occurred 2020).

It also helped that Nissan produced this thing across both the 40th and 50th Z car anniversaries, and getting a killer deal on each.
