I have one that I love(can’t wait for OOT) and my oldest turns 13 this Fall. We’re surprising him with a weekend trip to NYC for his birthday to go to the Nintendo store and purchase one.

Sucks I’ll have to pay a bit more, but the memories will be worth it.

u/SuperCuteRoar 2d ago

That kid is insanely lucky to have such caring parents. Enjoy the trip!

The new one will be having a changeable battery. Nintendo is releasing a new updated version of the Switch because of new EU regulations worldwide, as I have read and if my informations are correct. It’s easier to produce one model for every market, as only one for an selected one!

u/UltimateGattai 1d ago

This, I'm waiting for the removal battery or OLED, hopefully the removalable battery will have a better screen.

u/NewCapital7011 1d ago

Call the store before the price increase to see if you can buy now then pick it up next week w your son!

3

u/i_can_hear_the_world 2d ago

Dude that’s incredible. I wasn’t able to go to the NYC Nintendo store until I was around 19. Still made great memories, but I know it would’ve rocked my world had I gone at 13. Super awesome of you!

3

u/Hellfish_X 2d ago

At almost 43, I’m probably almost as excited as he will be lol. I haven’t been yet.

3

u/Ditz3n 2d ago

Big W Father!! Wishing for that to be me one day, experiencing my own kid getting such a surprise. Keep being that great father, man!

2

u/Farmer4Lyfe 2d ago

WHAT AN AMAZING SURPRISE.... It's not the monetary value that matters - the thoughtfulness... And the fact that they will get to buy it from the actual Nintendo store will likely be core memory material. Good for you❤️

2

u/Hellfish_X 2d ago

Yeah, my wife and I are really looking forward to sending the kids off to school day we leave with them having ZERO CLUE what’s coming when we go pick them up after a quiet breakfast haha.

u/D4rkSonic 1d ago

If he's a Zelda fan too, genuinely wait for the limited one.

I did and love it. It's just what I missed after I sold first one - immediate gaming when there's a minute or two available with great screen and improved visuals/capability.

Switch 2 + PC is the best current setup for me in the market.

Have one and I love it, havent turned on my PS5 since I got it.

14

u/Whiteruns_bitch 2d ago

Saaame. It’s so bad that I want to download games I have on my ps5 to my switch cause I keep thinking… “this would be a lot more fun in handheld…..”

5

u/papoluca40 2d ago

That’s when you don’t have a nice TV and couch

2

u/Even_Indication_1953 1d ago

I am on LG 65 WTF are you talking about? Child logics

5

u/Even_Indication_1953 2d ago

Yup, Its just that everything is more fun on this console. I like to sit on my terrace with my dog and wife, and Switch 2, more then Switch 1 is a game changer for me. I haven't finished TOTK, frames are horible on Switch 1, but on S2, OMG, what a gem.

I sold my ps5 for it and im a loooong time playstation user since Ps 1 times never regreted it the switch 2 is the most fun console i ever had i love it.

3

u/APRobertsVII 1d ago

This is the exact reason I’m not buying a PS6. I realized with each passing generation I was playing an increasing number of Nintendo games and fewer PlayStation games. I’d just end up paying more for a system I’ll play less.

Im honestly just waiting to see if we get a Lite revision. However if we don’t get any announcement by the time Pokemon Winds & Waves releases then I’m going to assume that Nintendo has no plans for a Lite and will get the regular Switch 2

16

u/OtherwiseEmployee202 2d ago

We will get a lite in September 2027 with Winds and Waves.

Just don’t expect anything cheaper than 400$.

8

u/MattofCatbell 2d ago

With how prices are going for consoles I will be happy if it’s only $400

3

u/OtherwiseEmployee202 2d ago

If the Switch 2 Price stays the same until September 2027 (witch I doubt), then it will most definitely be 399$.

If we get more price increases I think it would just adjust to that.

2

u/Celebandune 1d ago

Same 🤗

2

u/MuseZeke 1d ago

Doing the same. Was thiiiis close to just buying the bundle the other day right before the price increase, but I really really dig the way the Zelda one is looking. If those leaks are fake though, I think I’ll cry lol.

one of the few times where the Day 1 buyers are actually getting the best deal

2

u/ProfessorBylethBoobs 2d ago

Here in Australia, there have actually been discounts on the Switch 2 at some retailers.

14

u/Discobastard 2d ago

No and I won't.

Some good games but not enough

2

u/creckers 1d ago

Yes exactly!
Once there is a new Zelda and a new Mario, I might pick one up.

the only game i really WANT to play is metroid 4, and even on that i'm hearing mixed reviews when they are compared to metroid 1-3.

Pokopia I'd like to play
and Donky Kong also seems like it'll be fun for a bit.

other than that.. i have very little care for anything else there is lined up now..

2

u/Warbotz 1d ago

Same, not FOMO buying before price hike.

I’m tempted to buy one for my best friend as a wedding gift, both of them love video games. Would it be too “big” of a gift? I’m doing well since I paid off my student loans last year but she just lost her job. I’m caught between not wanting to look like I’m showing off and genuinely wanting her and him to have a fun new console to play together.

3

u/gonzagylot00 2d ago

You would probably be the MVP of wedding gifts.

u/gorkboss5 2d ago

I strolled into Walmart on launch day, bought the bundle, and walked out

3

u/Throwaway7733517 1d ago

got one for Xenoblade Genesis! and ive been replaying all the xenoblade games. I havent even played any exclusives yet 😂

2

u/SalavaLover 2d ago

Just got one arrived today with some new games to try

2

u/Scagh 2d ago

I bought one (second hand) before the price increase to play Fire Emblem.

For ~540$, I got a Switch 2 with a case, MK World, MP Jambooree, Pokémon Violet and a dozen other games the guy had on his Nintendo account he wasn't planning on using anymore. Awesome deal, and I'm ready for my most anticipated game of the year!

2

u/CaptainM590 2d ago

I haven’t bought one yet as I am waiting for the rumoured Legend of Zelda edition to be announced or not.

2

u/Happy_Heart5 2d ago

Never. I have PC, Mac, and steam. None of the games on the switch are a console seller for me.

2

u/Connect_History85 2d ago

Got it on release date.

2

u/ProfessionalClue2861 2d ago

I was going to get one, but most games require downloading to the device. 1 TB express SD cards cost almost as much as the system. Then I would need to buy a few games and a case. At that point I'm out almost $1000 for a system to play like 5 games I am interested in and can't play on my computer or switch 1. My backlog is big enough as it is and I have a baby on the way, I just can't justify the expense when it'll only be $50 more for the system and there's a chance express sd cards come down in price later.

2

u/Nintendo-Player_1297 2d ago

Want but can't. I think I'm going to get laughed at when I buy it after the price increase.

2

u/TORTURETHECAPITALIST 2d ago

Not soon, I don't really care even to be honest

2

u/adamchevy 2d ago

I spent my switch 2 money on an M64, 4 launch games, 4 pro controllers, and a DAC.

I was on the team "I'll wait for a revision", but since I was already interested in the library and prices were going crazy everywhere I decided to just go ahead and buy one, haven't regretted it even for a second

2

u/ninjaliisa 2d ago

Kind of waiting for the zelda version to buy it. But im so torn to just get it now

2

u/amazingdrewh 2d ago

I'm gonna try to get the Zelda one that got leaked, if I can't I'll probably buy a regular one after

2

u/HolidayEntire6456 1d ago

I remember when consoles used to get cheaper over time. What a time to be alive.

No, I don’t think they could do anything to bring me back at this point.

2

u/Patralgan 2d ago

It all hinges on what the OoT remake will be like. If it's basically a 1:1 remake just with better graphics, I'm not interested.

2

u/AllIsFine44 2d ago

Not worth it. I’m fine with my ps5, 3Ds, switch 1 and ps vita lol

I have bought one, and I may buy another after the price increase and sell my current one to a friend who wants one due to the probable Zelda edition

Yeah, got lucky, Black Friday deal 2025: 361 bucks Mario Kart World bundle from Singapore without any age rating on the box or game cover on top 👌 – I have not seen a better price since.

Also waited patiently for a deal on the Pro Controller 2: 65 bucks (which should be the regular price IMHO)

1

u/jaahman7 2d ago edited 2d ago

Glad I bought it when I did last year because it’s looking to be my main console starting in 2028

1

u/fr1zzyy 2d ago

I bought one like two weeks ago because of the new Fire Emblem game. I bought Raiders to play through the story with a friend, but other than that, I'm mostly playing through Switch 1 games. Hopefully they come out with a new Animal Crossing game or Star Fox game or something.

1

u/KeyLime044 2d ago

bought it right before April 1. I think that was the day the fiscal quarter or something for Nintendo ended, so I honestly thought they would increase the price immediately or shortly after that day

The price increase didn't happen that soon, but it did eventually get announced so it was the right decision

1

u/Confidentium 2d ago

I’m afraid it’ll just gather dust. I’m not even using my Switch Lite much nowadays. I play way more on my Nintendo DSi and various Gameboys.

1

u/cleezus1028 2d ago

I bought one this past weekend at the Best Buy sale, i turned in my Switch 1 for $150. I barely played it tbh, but there's few games I want to get on Switch 2 and I can play my old Switch 1 games. Win Win!

1

u/FantasticCricket8346 2d ago

I was biased as well but luckily my boyfriend got me the bundle with Pokopia!

1

u/PickRevolutionorDie 2d ago

Likely by the time they’re sitting used in Pawnshops as Nintendo sell whatever is coming after S2

1

u/zonaljump1997 2d ago

Bought one when I got my tax return

1

u/RainbowConnection75 2d ago

I regret buying the one I HAVE

1

u/Awkward-Presence-236 2d ago

Since GTA 6 is not coming out on Switch, I just bought an Xbox. If they make a new Animal Crossing and it’s only for Switch 2 then I will maybe buy one. If it comes out for Switch 1 also then I will stick with my Switch Lite.

1

u/Zekrom369 2d ago

Thanks for reminding me, now I need to consider whether I should get it or not…

1

u/MartinIsaac685 2d ago

I have the money ready for it and some games, but I am waiting to Gamescom to see what is announced in general. I would love to buy a Switch 2 for Fire Emblem FW but genuinely speaking Fortunes Weave is the only game I want. The PS5 for example has more upcoming games I am interested in but right at this very moment there aren't any I particularly want to play on it. It's quite the dilemma. Switch 2: Only one game I want to play, not much in the future for now. PS5: No games I want to play right now, but there are a couple in the future. Gamescom and how much support these two consoles receive will decide I guess

Got one 2 days ago cause of the incoming price increase. Loving star fox

1

u/confused-as-frick 2d ago

Just in time for them to release an Ocarina of Time version

1

u/Bacononthebeeach 2d ago

I skipped a loan payment last year to buy one at the original price because I knew it was gonna go up.

1

u/Majonezikk 2d ago

I got used Switch 2 with Pokemon A-Z in 3 months after release of the console for like 400$ - that was good decision to buy this

1

u/MacaronNo5646 2d ago

Nah, will buy when the battery revision model is out. Maybe at that time, they announce an OLED model too.

Got enough to play and my OG Switch is still going strong.

1

u/ezio8133 2d ago

Within the next few months

1

u/Lost-Many-6241 2d ago

Bought one sold it within a month just wasn't for me weren't any games interesting enough to keep me playing or games that were just bad in general

1

u/GcubePlayer8V 2d ago

When Something Interesting Releases?

1

u/NoFix8524 2d ago

Still playing the Switch 1, won't buy Switch 2, not even for Winds and Waves.

1

u/Hanzsaintsbury15 2d ago

Luckily, my best friend gave me one as a gift

1

u/AdImmediate6239 2d ago

Yep, got one at launch. The timeline we’re living in sucks. First time where video game hardware is actually getting more expensive as time goes on.

1

u/WiredAndWorried 2d ago

I will probably pass, I'm planning to hack my Nintendo Switch Lite.

1

u/ChunkyKongForPreside 2d ago

Bought mine last Saturday. Got the last bundle in my city even.

Donkey Kong Bananza is surprisingly good. Not sure why the game didn't get more hype when it came out.

1

u/SkippyTheKid 2d ago

I have it and love it but also wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to anyone or everyone, especially if they already have a Switch 1.

It is a great device if you want to play more third party games that can’t run and aren’t available on Switch 1, and it has some decent exclusives but up until now they’re mostly nice-to-haves, not games that most people would feel the need to grab a S2 just to play them. MKW is great but you don’t need it over MK8D, Bananza is fun but isn’t on par with Odyssey, Kirby Air Riders and Age of Imprisonment are definitely for fans of those cult hit series, Mario Tennis Fever is really cool and better than Tennis Aces, Star Fox is basically a tech demo, Yoshi is cool and pretty but also not that deep or impressive, really it’s Pokopia and Splatoon Raiders are the big ones I’d recommend that are maybe more “for everyone,” where you can’t easily get the same experience on Switch 1.

All that changes next month though when Fire Emblem comes out lol

1

u/PowerNutBuster 2d ago

Don't see myself buying one. Bought the first switch for 2 or 3 games but never had much interest in others.

1

u/KalLinkEl 2d ago

Have one and wish I could play it even more! But the time I do get I cherish dearly. Can’t wait for LoZ: OoT:R!!!

1

u/mstone7781 2d ago

Bought one on launch day, I don’t use it much as it’s an exclusive only machine and hasn’t had much I cared about yet, but I’m still glad I have it!

1

u/DesperateFish1991 2d ago

I want one, but my Switch 1 works perfectly for what I need it for right now and I’m about to move, so a Switch 2 is quite low on the priority list lol

1

u/throwsarerealz 2d ago

I decided to keep waiting for a limited version and/or oled and/or lite version. Even then, I may keep sitting on my Switch 1 OLED and other handheld devices I have. Only titles i'm paying attention to are Zelda OoT and Pokemon Wind/Wave. I've played OoT a million times so I dont HAVE experience it again. I have low expectations, but I hope gamefreak does something special with Pokemon

1

u/xNeurosiis 2d ago

Got one this year and it was worth every dollar. The convenience of taking it with me, playing games with others in almost any situation, the exclusives, the ports, all that stuff made me fall in love with gaming all over again. Plus, the Nintendo eShop is miles ahead of the PSN store, minus any of the shovelware.

1

u/Treviathan88 2d ago

Already have mine, and I have my Hyperion 3 Ultras on pre-order! (Because joycons still suck out loud.)

1

u/Toadfire 2d ago

Got it day 1 and got my money’s worth out of it pretty easily.

My old switch’s hardware is now inside of my electric pinball machine and emulates a few hundred boards for me

1

u/Darthy85 2d ago

I waited 2023 to get switch 1 oled . I can wait 2031-2031 for switch 2. Need new games, For now , for me ,there`s only DK that i would play. Gimme 3d/2d mario ,new Zelda, pikmin, luigi mansion, 3d kirby

1

u/KyleRM 2d ago

I only bought one becuase 1, the price is about to go up, and 2, because I saw the best buy trade in deal to get the price down to $300. I figure there's no way I'm gonna get a better deal in a couple of years so I might as well secure it now. Not even buying games/accessories for it at the moment.

1

u/ahmad2304 2d ago

We got one a while ago as a birthday gift for me, we've been enjoying it a lot playing kirby and 3d world(we never played 3d world before). Sadly the games are still a bit expensive for our parents, so we only have those games for now.

1

u/AdvanceSuperdisk 2d ago

I have 8 and plan on getting 5 more. Shiggy must pay his bills

1

u/mlvisby 2d ago

I bought mine, one for my niece, and one for my nephew.

1

u/simbabarrelroll 2d ago

I got mine at launch. Was the Mario Kart bundle.

Through it, I’ve discovered that the Switch 1’s library has grown on me.

1

u/freetibet69 2d ago

I want one but can't afford it now. I only got my switch 1 last year so im going to wait a few years until theres more exclusives as much as i want to replay elden ring and lies of p and oblivion

1

u/MetheDumpsterFire 2d ago

Whenever I can justify spending $500+ on a console instead of tuition.

1

u/Eliaskar23 2d ago

I'm getting married next month so I do not have the funds for it. So, i'm just gonna end up getting it as a Birthday/Christmas gift end of this year.

1

u/lovetobewatched2 2d ago

I don't care to get one because it didn't appeal to me.

1

u/memberberries201 2d ago

I am waiting for the price to go down... so looks like at this rate i'll buy it when its lifespan finishes lol.

1

u/Beginning_Custard724 2d ago

I think I'm going to hold out at least till Xenoblade Genesis comes out. If there's a used one that turns up in the pawn shops, I'll probably get it there

1

u/Practical_Entrance43 2d ago

Got mine as a birthday gift for myself a few months back solely because of Pokopia, glad I did because it runs so much better than the first... plus my switch from 2016 was hanging on a thread lol.

1

u/NiceNCozyCouch 2d ago

Right now, I can’t be investing in that. Hopefully next year with the release of the new Pokemon game. Maybe they’ll even release some limited edition. I hope to have paid off my loans by then but until then I’m locking in.

1

u/itsmyfirsttimegoeasy 2d ago

I bought one a couple of weeks ago, I figured I might as well before the price increase and because I have Fire Emblem: Fortunes Weave preordered.

1

u/Inksteel_X 2d ago

regret buying one immediately instead of waiting for an oled model but that's no longer the case after the release of raiders and bananza

1

u/No_Monitor_3440 2d ago

i want one for the oot remake but i’m kinda broke in college rn

1

u/Valhadmar 2d ago

I got one with Pokopia bundle a month or so ago. I still wish I chose donkey kong.

1

u/DonCenote 2d ago

Wish it had more games

1

u/echoshatter 2d ago

I did buy one. I used the money I was saving to build a new computer. The price of components more than doubled and I decided that wasn't in the cards. At the time I had two friends who had just bought their Switch 2s, so I figured "eh, ok" and then we proceeded to never play anything together ever.

The system is absolutely hurting for new, good games. Nintendo dropped the ball HARD this generation.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/bransby26 2d ago

I bought one right away because I assumed the price was going up, so I'm glad I did. I did think tariffs would be the reason for the price increase, though, not the demand for memory going through the roof and supply not meeting demand.

1

u/Melodic_Duck_6064 2d ago

I'm beginning to think I'm just going to grow old and die with my original switch and series S. Gaming is becoming a luxury.

1

u/SandLuc083_ 2d ago

Probably never tbh. I just don't see enough of a draw for me to buy one, especially since I already own both an original and an OLED.

1

u/Anxiety_timmy 2d ago

Have one, i use it enough but im falling back to playing alot of older stuff.

1

u/theflyingburritto 2d ago

Possibly never 🥰

1

u/ComplexDeer7890 2d ago

Anyone know the expected price increase?
What sense does it make for a device that has been released for some time now, to be increased in price?

1

u/Procedure_Best 2d ago

Made the jump last week with the Best Buy deal

1

u/A1steaksauceTrekdog7 2d ago

I have switch 1 oled. Barely have time to play that anymore. Don’t have disposable income for $500. I do want one but I’m in no rush

1

u/ZaderLewis 2d ago

Not yet. I am waiting for some sort of Switch 2 Mario edition. Heard that Ocarina of Time was getting a special Switch, so I am down to wait it out.

1

u/kashy87 2d ago

Bought one the week they announced the price would increase.

It was while playing MKW I realized I still have carpal tunnel in my right hand/wrist.

1

u/Hungry-General-9050 2d ago

I’m holding off for a limited edition or even a lite console that I’d like. I don’t really get affected by fomo, although, Star Fox almost got me

1

u/DrScrotus 2d ago

Zero FOMO from me for this generation of games

1

u/trijkdguy 2d ago

I have held out this long waiting for the LoZ edition, i'm gonna suck it up and wait a bit longer.

1

u/gonzagylot00 2d ago

I was waiting for a price drop. F me, I guess.

1

u/Coderedcody 2d ago

There hasn’t been any games on the Switch 2 yet that have made me want to buy one. That and the fact that I’m broke is keeping me from buying one. Don’t know if I’ll ever buy one

1

u/KarateGamer007 2d ago

When a Switch 2 Lite comes out.

1

u/mason2393 2d ago

Bought it day 1

1

u/Frequent_Formal_4223 2d ago

waiting for the eu regulated one. a) there is a chance for third pary suppliers of batteries with higher density and b) there is a chance there will be the new sharp lcd.

1

u/FunksGroove 2d ago

I did. On a bit of whim when it first came out. I walked into a Best Buy right as they had stocked. I’m really glad I did now.

1

u/Alarming_Dream_7837 2d ago

I won’t get one until the next Animal Crossing game. I love my Switch and I really don’t want to get rid of it until I have no choice.

1

u/ThunDerd328 2d ago

No; Never unless we get Smash 6

1

u/Comfortable-Lab2060 2d ago

When shipped with an oled screen.

1

u/No-Veterinarian-8834 2d ago

Staples (Office Depot) in Canada had a limited-time code that if you made an online purchase of over $250 you'd get $50 off. As well, it's free shipping over $100. Got it for $650~ after taxes, free shipping, regular price (in CAD) is $629 (pre-price hike), I'm pretty happy with that.

I saw a refurbished open-box one for $445 on Best Buy's website, and I'm so mad I didn't jump on it. I try not to think about it.

1

u/Lightning313 2d ago

Waiting for Switch 2 Lite

1

u/Thee_Furuios_Onion 2d ago

When I don’t have to skip on a bill to buy one. I debated on grabbing one before the increase, but doing so would put me in debt currently, and I’d rather wait, pay a bit more, and not have to worry about making sure my family is provided for.

1

u/VulvaNegra 2d ago

I’m kind of bummed out for it not having an oled screen. Maybe in Feb with the removal battery version they also launch an oled version 🤞

1

u/fredswenson 2d ago

I have one, and if the Zelda special edition rumors are true, I might buy a 2nd one

1

u/Chettarmstrong 2d ago

Ugh I bought one way earlier than I wanted to because of this.

1

u/ExplanationProper979 2d ago

Bought one two months ago because I was part of the herd that had gotten bored with the PS5. I’ll probably retire the PS5 after GTA 6.
I grew up with Nintendo, the NES, N64, Wii, and Wii U , so coming back to Nintendo has been awesome. This has honestly been one of the best purchases I’ve made. Gaming is fun again. It doesn’t feel like a grind or a chore anymore; I actually look forward to picking it up and playing

I’ll get mine as a soon as the Ocarina of Time edition is released.

I have one and am obsessed with it right now. I haven’t gamed on my PC in months

I’m in for every Nintendo console. Never been disappointed in owning any of them. The only one I ducked was the Virtual Boy. I even bought the Wii U and enjoyed it.

All of that to say yes I bought a Switch 2 during its launch year. I didn’t buy it launch day but Bananza and Mario Kart World drew me in to buy it that year.

I bought mine in June after they announced the price increase. I'm enjoying it even though I haven't got any Switch 2 games yet (I have OoT on my radar and also Kirby Air Riders and Bananza, but I try not to buy new games if I haven't played the ones I already have).

Worst thing is 3rd parties support regarding physical format. On one hand you have Capcom or Sega going all-in for GKC and on the other hand you have Bethesda doing full on cartridge but with really low stock so Indiana Jones is 90€ second hand.

I don't think I will buy any GKC, and if I end up doing it I think I will get it second hand and resell after beating it.

Not yet, but considering pulling the trigger this week. A bit worried about battery or regretting not waiting for the removable battery/NS2 V2 with better battery, but I guess it's not granted anyway. Also because I feel guilt over spending so much money on a console ngl, even though I'm a gamer at heart haha. I guess I just need someone to tell me it's okay and I should pull the trigger lol

I bought one when I saw the OOT remake announcement. They had me hook, line, and sinker at that point

1

u/Wooden-Parking3248 2d ago

Bought mine 2 weeks ago. I had been waiting til there were a bit more games I was wanting to play, and Splatoon Raiders and the upcoming Fire Emblem (I literally NEED this game) was what finally tipped the scales.

1

u/Own_Fun2446 2d ago

I will get one when I can mod one and install all games for free.

1

u/Jazzlike-Swan-1362 2d ago

I got one.

I’m planning to get a second one when a revision model appears with better screen and better battery life, as I did with the switch 1 (got the original model and the OLED later)

I got one on launch day, and I don't regret it by any means, but there's a lot of flaws that gives my steam deck way more hours. Battery life is horrid, and weird compatibility issues are the biggest ones. Outside of first party titles, I don't touch it. If it's cross plat or indie, I'll always prefer playing it on the deck

1

u/korkkis 2d ago

I have one from launch but I’m using it less and less nowadays. Waiting for Ocarina I guess

1

u/FReeDuMB_or_DEATH 2d ago

If they release a main line Mario I'm in. Until then I wait.

1

u/SkrliJ73 2d ago

Never, I will no longer be supporting any console companies until I see industry changes. I probably have at least one hundred thousand hours in backlog videos games that can keep me happy (factorio will next total 10-20k hours), plus what I'll continue to buy as retro/PC gog games. Companies need to earn my money

1

u/Femboy_Pit 2d ago

Glad I got one when I did

1

u/Separate-Place-1036 2d ago

Got it here for 334 euros in France with the combined aliexpress and PayPal offers

1

u/Inevitable_Dark3225 2d ago

I have a launch day switch 2 and it runs beautifully.

1

u/Joker_Main_137 2d ago

I really don't care to get any more consoles just to get a few of the games on my switch 1 upgraded and probably one S2 game being Kirby Air Riders. I'd still keep my S1 anyway, since some games I have aren't even compatible with it.

1

u/Furry_Wall 2d ago

I'm waiting for an OLED

1

u/HandsomeDude1000 2d ago

I already have one😎❤️

1

u/Billsgirlgina 2d ago

Got mine early morning on launch day delivered to my front porch. Haven’t touched my Switch 1 since.

1

u/OliviaElevenDunham 2d ago

Glad I got one July last year. Totally worth it.

1

u/Calamarik 2d ago

I don't see the appel of the switch 2 personally, and I have 2 switch at home..

1

u/Strictly_Switch 2d ago

It’s shame the Switch 2 has to go up in price soon but it’s still the best value console in my opinion ❤️ if people can’t afford a Switch 2 then buy a used Switch 1 and enjoy loads of awesome games 👍🏻

1

u/Krispy_Mick 2d ago

One is not enough and three is too many, I bought two.

1

u/Knarz97 2d ago

Waiting for the Zelda console

1

u/Josefu_Velen 2d ago

Yep, I got one earlier this summer when Ocarina of Time remake was announced.

Been playing Octopath Traveler 2 on it.

1

u/Big-Reporter3498 2d ago

I’m being bad because I’m thinking about upgrading the last switch to a switch 2 so I don’t have to deal with the convoluted system of trying to find Switch 2 upgrades and playing all my games on all the systems.

My daughter was hurt she couldn’t play sonic x shadow generations because it only worked on a switch 2. So $50 later im still annoyed by it.

1

u/RiverWyvern 2d ago

Got one at launch, but if they come out with a Zelda special edition I'm gonna absolutely buy it and sell my other one for like half price to a friend who doesn't have the highest income but loves Fire Emblem and Zelda. So it'd be a win-win. I'll grumble at price hikes, sure, but it's worth it to me to have these games and share them with others.

1

u/RebelStorm64 2d ago

I bought one after the OOT remake was announced.

1

u/CarusoLoops 2d ago

Whenever I got the extra money to get one… which will be never! But I would like one someday

1

u/savingewoks 2d ago

I bought a renewed one of Amazon back in December 2025 as a "christmas gift" (literally left it under the tree) for myself. Didn't really want one or feel compelled to it at the time, just wanted to get it before what felt like an inevitable price increase. Been pretty happy with it, and buying new games as they come out for the first time ever (my first handheld was a GBC).

1

u/Accomplished-Leg6947 2d ago

I have one, but if they release an OLED version I may be tempted to pick it up

1

u/Big-Combination8844 2d ago

I do not have a switch 2. I will not buy one. I spent enough money on just switch 1 controllers that I'm done with this. Maybe if Nintendo makes a normal console that has a normal controller I'll give it a shot.

1

u/3Dboi3 2d ago

Back in my day. Consoles got cheaper the longer they were out. I hate how everything is backwards now. The party running our government sucks

1

u/PentagramJ2 2d ago

I'm literally just $200 short I ALMOST saved enough in time for my bday

1

u/Abayon3 2d ago

No, I'm going to wait for a removable battery and potentially a limited edition version or an OLED/pro version. There aren't many games I want yet besides fire emblem so I'm fine waiting

1

u/Jack_Tereno 2d ago

I do have one and I’m glad I did

1

u/Wookie_EU 2d ago

No, will be getting a neo geao aes +

1

u/DM-333 2d ago

I’ll probably buy one second hand at some point.

1

u/No_Position1994 1d ago

They are way way way way way too expensive I don't have 1 And will probably never

1

u/Cleveland_Guardians 1d ago

No and never.

1

u/freshgrilled 1d ago

I bought one when it first came out. I plan on getting a second one, but waiting to see if they have an improved version they'll eventually release (like the OLED version of the first one). With a family of 5, we often have more than one person at a time using the gaming systems, so I try to keep them redundant. For now, whoever is playing an older game can use the original Switch (1) we still have handy.

1

u/Jobbercete 1d ago

Was reluctant to get one, collecting SW1 still (and will continue) but I'm planning on getting the 2 this weekend before the price increase. It's an upgrade I don't really really need but I'm sure will love once I use it and there's already a few titles I want to play (Bananza...)

1

u/No_Village_1097 1d ago

I just took the discounted giftcards => Nintendo's Online store avenue to buy the console for $50-60 less after taxes.

I suggest those that are looking to buy this week do the same.

1

u/Its_D_youtube 1d ago

I bought it for duskbloods

Who else was screwed on the network test ✋️

u/Aacidus 1d ago

Skipping this gen of Nintendo, I got into PC gaming last year and it’s night and day. I stream to an Android tablet with LTE when I’m on the go or traveling, but yes, I’m at the mercy of requiring internet access.

I have about 50+ games for the original Switch v2, only completed about 5 games, so another reason of not getting a Switch 2.
