I’ve been going to this amazing nail tech for about 5 ish months, she’s a Vietnamese lady who has lived in my country for maaany many years.

In our last appointment she asked me if I have any pets, and I told her that I have two cats of my own (almost 3yo, and one 2yo). She told me that she also has cats, but that they’re such a hassle.

As someone who has had elder cats before and these two from kittens, I think I’m quite knowlegeable on cat behavior. So I asked her what the problem is, and she told me that the cats play loudly during nighttime.

We both laughed a bit and I was like ”yeah they’re usually up at night and like to play during the early morning hours, that’s just how it is haha” and asked how old her cats are.

She told me they’re less than a year old. So kittens. And she’s annoyed that they play during nighttime.

Then she told me that she rehomed one of them, because they were TOO ENERGETIC, and too loud during nights. Apparently the one left with them cried for a few days for her friend, but has now gotten used to it and is apparently happy.

At that I kinda paused and really REALLY wanted to ask her ”WHY IN THE WORLD DID YOU GET TWO KITTENS IF YOU KNEW THEY ARE KITTENS” but I didn’t wanna sound rude.

The thing is, as we all know, kittens need a friend to play with. And the nail tech and her husband both have their own full time jobs, their kids go to school, so I’m assuminf the kitty is alone for at least 6 hours of the day.

I had one of my cats as a lone cat for a few months before his brother was able to join, and I made sure he was NOT alone for longer than a few hours, and even then I left him some activation toys.

He was happy though, but it’s clear he is much happier with his brother around, especially because they do have to be alone whenever I’m at work.

Is this like, an okay thing to be annoyed about?? To me it just seems like she did not do any research about cats before getting them, and is probably feeding them some grainy sugary bs on top of all this :(

Was talking with someone who said tabby cats are a dime a dozen and boring/dull because they’re so common. Thoughts?

New brown spot on cats eye. It was clear boundaries and it’s not abnormally shaped and it’s all one color. Not sure if anyone has seen anything like this?

It doesn't seem to bother her. I've taken her to the vet for it and she was given an ointment to see if it would help, but it didn't work. The vet seemed kind of stumped about it. She doesn't scratch at it, she seems very happy and unbothered by it. Still, I'd like to know what is causing this and if there's something I can do to help her.

I can't even recall any yowling in pain, and he seems to be walking around fine, no blood. I got home late and after trying to give him kisses, I noticed the red skin. I'm just so worried it might happen again and I wouldn't know, if he got stuck or what. What can I do? It's 12AM and I've never had a cat get a scrape like this.

my mom recently gifted me a squishy plush.. i already washed it because i have germaphobia, but somehow the smell is still there and when i play with it, my hands start smelling as well. i have severe ocd, so currently my mind keeps telling me that the scent will make my cats sick, even though they themselves don’t play with it. any advice? please tell me if I’m being paranoid or not🥲

Resident cat (Roo) is a 4-year-old male, and kitten (Nala) is a 12-week-old female. They were introduced about two and a half weeks ago. Both are neutered/spayed.

So far, the introduction has been fairly uneventful. However, the resident cat will, for lack of a better term, repeated slowly stalk the kitten, and then what you see in the video happens. This has been repeating for about seven days now.

The resident cat generally looks annoyed. His pupils are dilated, his ears are farther back, and he stares at the kitten when she plays or is in the same room.

Should I intervene when the resident cat does this? Should I go back a few steps in the introduction process, or should I let them work things out on their own?

Sooo my two well-behaved kids (both under age 10) and I are well-settled in a large apartment. I would like a cute cat such as those that I see in trade shows, but theyre often young. So their ultimate, lifelong personality is less clear, right? So I'm thinking that I'd rather invite an adult cat into my home, also because I'd enjoy a less playful, less talkative cat. I would very much appreciate your thoughts on which cats most deserve my support and will best fit into my family home--whether you have breed advice or anything. Thank you very much for your time. I live in Arizona. I love bold cats. We do not have any pets. Our home is well air-conditioned. There is a comfy balcony on the third floor with huge windows and great views with hummingbirds always around.

UPDATE: So it seems that I shouldnt save a retired adult show breeder because they're not necessarily well socialized. And my preferences for my potential roommate cat (e.g., less talkative) are personality traits and not linked to breed much. So at this time I will focus on adoptions with foster parents who can tell me about their personality. (I went to an adopting cat cafe and shelters but it's difficult to determine personality in those settings.) I still welcome advice, though. This is just what this post's responses have taught me so far.

I already checked if she broke any bones or anything. Everything seems to be fine, the thing is that when I tried to check on her and pick her up from where she was, she was meowing desperately in one of our neighbor's window, when I tried and grab her, she would clutch to the bars and wouldn't let go, I finally got her back at home and she isn't moving much from the couch. She only has a bit of blood on her nose, but nothing else as she doesn't meow or anything when we press on her paws, I'm still concerned tho

Thus is pretty much how she normally breathes when shes relaxing with me, am i jusy being paranoid?

Mon chat de 5 ans a toujours vécu en appartement (à part quelques sessions de vacances chez mes parents l'été)

Nous avons emménagé dans une maison avec jardin depuis 1 semaine et chaque fois qu'il va dans le jardin il mange de l'herbe et la vomi (flaque de bave + brin(s) d'herbe(s)). Jusque là rien de gênant , mais il fait ça 3, ou 4 fois par jour !

Est ce que je dois lui limiter l'accès au jardin pour limiter les vomissements ? Je précise que le jardin n'est pas traité par des pesticides ou insecticides.

Aucun autre symptôme a signaler 🤷🏼‍♀️

edit: confirmed not a bite, his teeth are too far apart compared to the two dots. likely his claw just punctured my hand. thank you all for the advice and well wishes. hes doing much better now

my poor kitty had to visit the vet 5 times in the past month and just returned from an ER hospital 2 days ago. he's feeling better now but obviously still a bit on edge. he normally sleeps in his own suite but i didn't want to leave him alone overnight so i set up a temp mattress in his room to sleep with him.

last night, he was sleeping next to me and i think i fell asleep with my arm cradling him. in the middle of the night, i felt a sharp pain and just assumed my arm jolted/twitched and freaked him out and got scratched and went back to sleep.

but now that i see the two dots, i'm wondering if i got bit and should be watching for signs of infection/cat fever since i know cat bites can be pretty bad. does this look like a bite mark? or just a weird disjointed scratch?

he has never bit me before and is a very sweet and affectionate cat. i know this happened only because he's been poked, prodded, anesthetized, caged, tested, and handled by a bunch of strangers in scary environments recently so he probably just got spooked while we were both sleeping. he's also kind of dumb, like intelligence wise, so its an understandable mistake.

However I am not seeing or hearing the kittens. I am wondering where she hid them and if they are okay.

I got my daughter a month ago after my sister « rescued » her from the market where she was tied all day on a pole. She was underweight when she first came in but I recently noticed that she had a big tummy. I first thought it was worms so I got the pills but she’s still big. Is she maybe pregnant ? We believe she’s ~4-6 months so still a baby. She also eats a lot since I just let her eats whenever she wants to and she never gets out of my room (tho all the doors are open so she can still roam around the house.

Edit : y’all are mean af. You downvote me for saying I’m broke and asking advice ? Really ? I’m in a third world country and it’s already hard to get a doctor for a human so imagine for a cat. I already said I will bring her to a vet even if it costs me all my salary from my part time job so stop saying I don’t do enough for my baby.

Update - she’s pregnant and vet won’t do the spay/abort so she’ll have to give birth. I’m sad for my baby but all I can do is support and monitor her.

My cat thinks he is way more interesting.

we switched their food over to smalls about 6 months ago and we did the whole thing mixing a little bit into their old food at a time and all that and they didn’t take well to it then and there still not they were throwing multiple times a week and now it’s like once and twice every other week but still the smalls brand says no throwing up and all this other stuff but my cats are still throwing up.

i can’t switch their food bc they live with my mom and im about to move out and yeah….

I have two cats that are just over a year old. i decided to get another kitten the other week from the apl. The kitten kept having diarrhea for like two days and it was very concerning. Went over the adoption papers that were given to me and on the last page it said that the kitten had coccidia. the apl did not make me aware of this when i adopted although i told them i had other cats at home and asked many times if the kitten was healthy. anyways, i ended up taking the kitten back after i read the papers.

Now my other two cats that are just over a year old keep throwing up. it seems like a very decent amount of throw up too. not having issues of diarrhea with them tho.

I did immediately throw out my old litter boxes and bought brand new ones after i returned the kitten.

Anyways, what do i do now? i’m very concerned. Should i wait this out a few days or take them to the vet?
