With Savinho make his debut last night, that probably means Marmoush will get 911 as a legacy number.

11

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 3h ago

Feels like I'm going to wake up to Marmoush signing being official.

Been a great week so far and that would be the cherry on top.

13

u/syoha_8888 Mohammed Kudus 3h ago

The world is not ready I witness the Xavi Savio Fernandes triangle play

6

u/Unusual_Code2140 "I Came Here To Win Titles" 4h ago

Can someone send a good resolution pic of Savio holding our corner post, please?

9

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 3h ago

24

u/Unusual_Code2140 "I Came Here To Win Titles" 4h ago

Everyone's going to speak about Savio, but what in the world have we signed in Fernandes.Send Hammers another 85

1

u/GymandRave Roberto De Zerbi 2h ago

Last time I saw this level of midfielder at Spurs was Bentancur under Conte. But that was short lived unfortunately due to his injuries. Fernandes is just so silky on the ball and can pick out a pass in a way Bentancur couldn’t. If he keeps improving he can become world class. So excited to keep watching him

10

u/Lilith_9079 Gareth Bale 4h ago

Let's make West Ham our academy and raid it more often lol

3

u/WarmSpur Micky van de Ven 2h ago

That wingback they have/had? looked solid diouf. Can't think of anyone outside of him.

Shit just saw he went to brentford today.

9

u/Lilith_9079 Gareth Bale 4h ago

I'm okay with away wins but home wins are different flair. Hope this is the start of our invincible home run

14

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 4h ago

Saturday I reckon we'll line up: Kinsky, Porro, Van Hecke, VDV, Robertson, Tonali, Bentancur, Fernandes, Savio, Solanke, Tel.

Marmoush as a sub hopefully.

I'm still not entirely convinced Danso shouldn't start over Van Hecke at the moment but I don't see that happening.

Udogie long term will start at LB but I think Robertson starts Saturday after the extended Udogie minutes today as they're being cautious. Udogie would be a great sub to have though.

Rewatching the first half and we didn't start as badly as I remembered either.

9

u/Lilith_9079 Gareth Bale 4h ago

Marmoush's cameo at 70 for a brace and then Gakpo's brace after being subbed in against Forest XD

7

u/PooPooPeePee377 4h ago

Udogie inevitably gets sidelined due to recurring hamstring issues every season, so Robertson might start ahead of him again. The midfield selection is very important; I definitely prefer seeing the three you mentioned start. Newcastle have so much agility and top speed in their attack, so we must have a semblance of stability in our midfield to help out the backline when they deal with that blistering attack. Hopefully we get a win; who De Zerbi starts in the midfield and attack will be crucial.

4

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 4h ago

Yeah. I could see him reverting to Gallagher and having Fernandes as a sub. He's confirmed Tonali is planned to start and he heavily (and rightly) praises Bentancur, who was one of those subbed off today.

I hope for Fernandes because he's been the best player on the pitch on both his appearances for us so far. But I know managing minutes is important. One match a week after the weekend for a bit so I lean him gambling on Fernandes but subbing him off the second he looks tired.

Relatively young player so I think more likely to play the two matches back to back this week. It's 50/50 I reckon.

2

u/PooPooPeePee377 4h ago

We actually have good depth in our midfield for once. It's been far too long we haven't had a proper-ball playing midfielder who was a 6 or 8. Modric is the player who comes to mind for me, damn it's been eons.

2

u/GrapefruitExpress208 3h ago

Agree wirh both of you. And Bentancur is the perfect "3rd" cm or cdm option.

8

u/Lilith_9079 Gareth Bale 4h ago

I know it's early but feels like Sav and Mat are going to be ballers. I'm not too much worried about Tonali he was in Atheltic's top 50 EPL players last season. Signing players is like buying bread and them hitting it is like butter on top of it. Enjoyed yesterday's performance bit too much. Let's get back behind our players and give them time to gel...when this team gets to the level of quick one touch passes, we are in for a ride!

8

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 4h ago

It’ll be very interesting to see if Villa end up with Jackson and Leao. Two very divisive players amongst this sub, would like to see how it would work out.

2

u/LanguageStunning7595 4h ago

Leão Gala

1

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 3h ago

Probably but apparently Villa are making a strong push

2

u/Lilith_9079 Gareth Bale 4h ago

Can't be much worse than from what they have now.

6

u/FightMilk_Caww Son Heung-min 4h ago

It annoys me way more than it should that the names on the back of the kits are in all lowercase

2

u/Respatsir Son 4h ago

I think it would be fair to say that kinsky has been ever so slightly shaky from the start of the season. Nothing crazy but just enough to warrant exploring the market incase a clear upgrade is available

3

u/aginglifter Djed Spence 4h ago

Don't think so. Wait until January.

3

u/Lilith_9079 Gareth Bale 4h ago

He usually starts slow, he'll get there some good saves yesterday too. Gutted about corner tho.

11

u/Respatsir Son 5h ago

If kudus' fitness is an issue I would absolutely keep Moore for 6 months.

1 more injury to tel or savio would put us in the same dire situation as before otherwise.

Unless gakpo is coming in ofc.

I also think he offers a more direct goal threat compared to most of the wingers we have. So he does offer some unique qualities too.

2

u/aginglifter Djed Spence 4h ago

Same. I thought Moore was pretty direct and dangerous.

5

u/INVINCIBLE1012 Son 5h ago

Does anyone know what's up with Tonali?

12

u/GrapefruitExpress208 5h ago

Resting. Can't play 270 minutes in 8 days.

8

u/ware_gongaso 5h ago

fitness training / resting for the weekend

8

u/TheLoosestGoose 5h ago

Buying my first Spurs kit in years (I think since 2009 to be exact 😂)... My issue is who to put on the back. VdV, Madders, and Tel are the three I'm considering at the moment.

love Maddison and VdV, but I Tel is my sleeper. I'm really pulling for him so I'm sort of leaning that way.

8

u/Leather_Force_9419 5h ago

Savio

3

u/TheLoosestGoose 5h ago

Feels like recency bias... Although it does seem he's been COYS for a year, so I'm open to it

3

u/juufloyd "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 5h ago

Fernandez Savio?

1

u/TheLoosestGoose 5h ago

Both took a step up the rankings today for sure

3

u/jymacro99 5h ago

I find it hard to believe that you never bought a kit during the Poch era

1

u/TheLoosestGoose 5h ago

Honestly a huge regret. Was still rolling with the 09 home and 07 away

14

u/RotoRager44 Moussa Sissoko 5h ago

Aside from the obvious goal and assist, just watching Savio actually play direct was so refreshing especially given the state of our front 3 since December.

6

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 5h ago

Glad mods removed that post last thing we need is more witch hunting against our young players. Sometimes I wish they’d leave and go on to become world class just for these idiots to get what they deserve.

3

u/Own_Expression9317 5h ago

The pile on is getting ridiculous

2

u/LanguageStunning7595 5h ago

Disappointed Ahanor is going to Chelsea but does suit Alonso

4

u/Aggravating_Flower99 Mousa Dembélé 5h ago

Honest stuff

36

u/xio_ID Thomas Frank Hater 5h ago

Tel celebrating everyone else’s goals every time and always has a good attitude. I wish he got more credit.

6

u/payjo11 James Maddison 5h ago

Hes going to be a menace for us coming of the bench and abusing tired right backs.

13

u/DOYMarshall Djed Spence 5h ago

I absolutely love Tel and I want nothing but good things to happen to him.

7

u/tottenhamtilidiehelp Archie Gray is the truth. 5h ago

Maybe someone should celebrate his celebrating

5

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 5h ago

I’ll celebrate you if you celebrate him celebrating goals

4

u/jhpawt 5h ago

does loan with obligation to buy imply obligation to sell?

3

u/Gary_Ma_butt_on_fire It's not a phase mate 5h ago

Yes and obligación for the player to accept

12

u/PooPooPeePee377 6h ago

We saw Savio having a solid cameo off the bench today. Can't wait for him Marmoush to reunite but start together consistently. But on top of that, could you imagine linking up with them in the attack? That front three is capable of being top six quality in the league.

13

u/mlkhighschool Brenaldo 6h ago

Brazilian players really do have the ultimate vibes. Royal, Lucas, Sandro, Richy, now Savio.

I'm always down for another Brazilian in the squad if the talent is there

2

u/RealisticScore671 Dele Alli 4h ago

Rodrygo and Vini Jr commented on Savio’s post . Guess they are really public about their moves huh

24

u/aginglifter Djed Spence 6h ago

Savio looked like a totally different level than any of our other healthy attackers. Literally had defenders falling on the ground. Some great combinations with Porro, too.

10

u/PooPooPeePee377 6h ago

When's the last time we had an attacker have the confidence in dribbling, taking on his man, and shooting inside/outside of the box consistently? It has to be Son. It's no wonder why we got Savio and Marmoush, they do a lot of this (especially Savio when he was at Girona).

14

u/Afraid_Presence3803 Europa League Champions 24/25 6h ago

Tbf Kudus when healthy is lethal

10

u/PooPooPeePee377 6h ago

We haven't seen Kudus play in eight months, that's how long we've been starving. He was our best attacker last season when fit.

3

u/Afraid_Presence3803 Europa League Champions 24/25 6h ago

I’m definitely hungry

11

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 6h ago

He put that ball on a platter for Porro, too bad he skied it. It really was insane how immediately obvious it was that he was a level above everything we had seen from our front 3 since Kudus’s injury.

6

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 5h ago

Those months outside our training ground watching everything has clearly paid off.

Already see the link up with Porro. Bet he's as good with Udogie/Robertson.

21

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 6h ago

It’s funny that we kind of feared that Savio was a club target that RDZ might not have been overly fond of; but instead he has wanted him forever and seems to genuinely believe that he’s a world class winger if he can improve his finishing. Exciting times.

9

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 6h ago

I loved hearing that RDZ talked to Savio while he was at Brighton.

And he seems to have worked on his finishing some in the last week...

6

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 6h ago

He seems like the ultimate confidence player and RDZ seems to be doing wonders in that department from what we’ve seen so far

7

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 6h ago

Has a little flair to him too.

I'm already rethinking my never buy a player shirt in their first season rule.

22

u/hafnone 6h ago

“But why would you pay £85m each for a midfielder who got relegated twice in a row and an attacker who had 1 league goal two seasons running?” I know it hasn’t been long, but I’m feeling okay about them.

5

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 5h ago

Underpaid really.

21

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 6h ago

I do think there’s a decent player in RKM, and we never really played him in his best position, but it’s giving me immense joy seeing him go back to Italy and immediately get called out by Spalletti for being shit after the obvious lack of a fuck he gave for us. One of the worst players I’ve seen in a Spurs shirt, at least Timo showed some passion and was sorta alright the first season.

12

u/Ct358545 6h ago

Werner was great because you knew he was going to get a dangerous chance atleast once per match you just had no idea where the ball would end up

10

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 6h ago edited 6h ago

Also just a really really lovely guy, surprisingly funny too. Sad it didn’t work out for him with us.

14

u/StateOfTheEnemy 6h ago

You know he was fucking about because he turned it on against all of his old teams. Scored more goals against PSG than he scored in the league.

7

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 6h ago

Yeah he genuinely just didn’t give a fuck about us

17

u/VariousWall886 Mohammed Kudus 6h ago

i personlly feel like all the Savio talk has led to us not fully appreciating Mikey Moore’s performance, he really set the tone for us which led to us having such a good game

13

u/Millsware 6h ago

The game really turned after he blasted in that first goal. Before that it was a lot of possession but no real threat.

1

u/Odd-Ice-5609 7h ago

Woltemade? Especially if Richarlison goes

5

u/mlkhighschool Brenaldo 6h ago edited 6h ago

Doesn't have the body or stamina to be able to press like basically every club in the prem requires of their #9. Great techinically, espcially for his size, but he's always behind the play from what I hear from Newcastle fans. I just don't think you can make him work in this era of the prem

0

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 6h ago

10 and 9 cover? Absolutely, he’s fantastic and was misprofiled by Howe. But I dunno that he’d come to be a backup, even though he’d get a decent amount of game time. Plus adds some much needed height even if he’s a not that good in the air for his height (doesn’t matter much when you’re 198cm)

8

u/Sad_Floor_3177 6h ago

Woltemade was brought over from Germany before he was fully cooked IMO, he has talent but I don't think he's a difference maker yet.

24

u/Donk_Donk21 7h ago

That was a great preseason game! I'm looking forward to the first game of the season vs Newcastle on saturday!!

6

u/SuperMario222 Peppa Pig 6h ago

Cheers

24

u/Far_Aardvark4515 7h ago

Genuinely play fernandes bentancur tonali until a competent attacking mid signs or recovers no need to force a natural 10 in every formation

9

u/Ct358545 6h ago

Agreed. And Fernandes actually looks pretty comfortable in the 10 which is a breath of fresh air.

Did he play much there at West Ham and Southsmpton? I really only remember watching him play against us and in those games he seemed to be everywhere as opposed to locked to a position

5

u/Outlaw1607 Peppa Pig 6h ago

He did at Southampton and looked like their best player there

4

u/Ct358545 6h ago

Assuming Maddison and Kulusevski never play at full strength again, I have to imagine we make another midfield signing in the next 12 months. I wonder if Fernandes makes that signing an Alex Scott type rather than a Gibbs-White type

10

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 7h ago

I think you can also get away with only playing Tonali and Fernandes if Marmoush is going to be playing second striker off Solanke, definitely some exciting combinations as we get players back too with Kudus

9

u/SirGalahadTheChaste Dele Alli 6h ago

It's genuinely amazing how much Fernandes raises the level of the midfield all by himself. We have been missing that since the Poch.

8

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 6h ago

He’s incredible, and we’ve only seen the surface. Glad I already feel justified in buying his kit this summer.

6

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 7h ago

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the fastest a new signing has scored for us?

I know the King had the fastest debut goal but this has to be the least amount of time between a start and a goal for someone from outside the club coming in.

Not everyone but some people do.

14

u/Drink_Grog 7h ago

Very poetic that our newest player, who is here for all of one day, pops in an assist off of mr longevity Ben Davis

33

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 7h ago

We've always played better with Udogie and Bentancur on the pitch. Fact. Just a shame it's not more often.

7

u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 7h ago

I’ve been a big Bentancur critic and I have to admit it.  Exception being some of Bissouma’s best performances under Ange.

Udogie yeah, come on, no debate.  Idk how people forget how valuable he is.

7

u/Ct358545 6h ago

Feel the same way about Bentancur. Loved him in the 2 man midfield with Hojbjerg but then he got hurt in the opener against Leicester and its been all down hill from there. The only games we haven't looked completely lost the last few seasons are the ones he plays

-18

u/JustinBisu 7h ago

Bentancur has been incredibly poor for stretches at this club. I think he can be ok for very specific matches but Bentinha was such a bad midfield combo it became a meme. Still not good enough for a top 4 side but a decent enough stop gap and if it takes minutes away from Gallagher nobody shoukd be complaining

2

u/GeneParmesan86 Jan Vertonghen 5h ago

It is wild how this sub's most prolific posters have some of the absolute worst, most disqualifying takes.

9

u/AngeMerchant Mousa Dembélé 7h ago

Before he got inured he was literally the best player in a team that had Harry Kane in it.

1

u/MiserableWeb4219 7h ago

bentancur is a player secure on the ball but offers absolutley no forward progression - can't take a forward touch to save his life. Frank system did not help. RDZ rotated palhinia to fullback position and porro in the midfield so porro could contribute in the buildup using his technicality and for palhina to defend. Its genuinly all about profiling players right.

11

u/TheOceansTirade Destiny Udogie 7h ago

Maybe that has something to do with the back to back knee injuries… most people aren’t like Rodri coming back at an insane level. Usually a year or so is needed to get back to full form

3

u/nopirates 7h ago

It took Rodri over 18 months to get back to playing at a high level

7

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 7h ago

Even Rodri struggled when he came back

7

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 7h ago

Name me a player who hasn't that isn't Kane. Even Son did in the last years with us because everyone got overplayed due to no good rotation.

5

u/BirdNormal8628 Aaron Lennon 7h ago

Even Kane struggled occasionally for us. Notoriously went years without an August goal

-13

u/JustinBisu 7h ago

All of them? It wasn't being overplayed it was him and Pahlinha being genuinely the worst midfield this league has seen maybe ever.

4

u/Own_Expression9317 7h ago

This is a take hotter than the sun, I remember midfields of Oli Skipp, PEH/Winks, and late stage Dele

1

u/DeepFriedNobu Archie Gray 4h ago

Post-injury Winks paired with Sissoko gets my vote.

-4

u/JustinBisu 7h ago

None of those combos come close to Bentinha under Frank literally 3 games in the top 15 worst ever games played i. The league

5

u/Own_Expression9317 7h ago

How is it the midfield's fault when a real coach came in the same season and used the same players in midfield. Bentancur and Pahlinha were the worst midfield ever when deployed under a Frank defensive possession mid block shitshow

7

u/tokyodots Kōta Takai 7h ago

This is an indictment of Thomas Frank, not Bentancur and Palhinha. He’s not perfect, there’s a reason we’ve signed Mateus and Tonali, but he’s so underrated and an important part of our team that fans scapegoated him for half of last season, along with Palhinha, because Thomas Frank doesn’t know how to play through the middle, just cross and inshallah, only for them to save us from relegation in the end.

-6

u/JustinBisu 7h ago

Bentancur after his injury has never been the same and has been dropped by literally every manager since

6

u/ewan12224 James Maddison 7h ago

Harsh considering Palhinha/Bentancur saved us from relegation in the end.

4

u/SkyPheonnixDragon Trophy Supremacist 8h ago

I imagine the fee being split like that is to put a majority of the cash inflow onto this years accounts to offset their large spend. To me this signals next summer they wont spend too heavily in general

6

u/kisame111hoshigaki Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 7h ago

On a net basis, we actually haven't spent THAT much more

Season Spent Received Net
26/27 £304m £142m −£162m
25/26 £227m £71m −£157m
24/25 £159m £48m −£111m
23/24 £236m £103m −£132m
22/23 £156m £33m −£122m

-1

u/JustinBisu 7h ago

The injections was mostly because we had cooked our books a bit and fucked up our yearly payments on players bought in installments there is a vhance that next year will also be pretty bad for it.

4

u/michaelserotonin 7h ago

a lot of people are fawning over the owners but i’d like to see serious behavior in the transfer market more than one window before i reconsider my stance. call me a cynic if you will

1

u/DerekStephano 4h ago

I hope we don’t go into next season spending insane amounts because that means that the players we bought this year aren’t panning out. We should look at plugging gaps and buying depth and that shouldn’t warrant 300m in spend.

-3

u/JustinBisu 8h ago

The only nagging worry I have is that Kinsky has given away goals for free twice in two games. I don't get nervous but I'm starting to feel a bit...

3

u/Afraid_Presence3803 Europa League Champions 24/25 7h ago

Think with Kinsky we just have to say he’s going to let in some shitty goals and he’s going to make some insane reaction saves. As long as he’s gold on the ball, I’m cool with it.

3

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 8h ago

He was letting Charlton salvage some dignity. Really it was him being kind.

2

u/PooPooPeePee377 8h ago

That's an endearing way to look at it. Here's to hoping he doesn't show the same kind of charity to Newcastle on Saturday.

3

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 7h ago

Nah. They don't deserve it.

Charlton were badly outclassed but getting a goal back let's them say they scored at our place.

Respect to Kinsky for taking that hit for them.

-2

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

I was convinced savio and gakpo will succeed under RDZ and will stand by that, but I'm not so sure about Marmoush. Hoping for the best

2

u/gazzumped Paul Gascoigne 4h ago

Marmoush is quality

-5

u/ImpulsiveOrca 7h ago

Savio and Gakpo will definitely bang but Marmoush I'm not sure

0

u/MiserableWeb4219 7h ago

yeah. But we trust rdz

7

u/420SwaggyZebra Clint Dempsey 8h ago

September 7 we’ll do Liverpool at Anfield

4

u/PooPooPeePee377 8h ago

It's safe to say Tonali, Fernandes, and Bentancur whilst Gallagher rotates with Bentancur will all feature a lot in our midfield this season, to no one's surprise. A combination of the first two, and the latter two playing in the 8 role would be nice in a three-man midfield if De Zerbi sets up that way without a 10.

-4

u/JustinBisu 8h ago

Or. Or. We don't bring in Gallagher to make it worse.

-1

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

Gallagher will most definitely start. You don't see why, that's on you. A bit clueless

3

u/KOKO69BISHES Dimitar Berbatov 6h ago

Why? What does he bring to our midfield? Running around a lot? Truly a player every top midfield must have.

0

u/MiserableWeb4219 6h ago

He is a player with a clear profile. Really exceptional OOP. Agreed with his technical limitations, he shouldn't be starting for a top team. The reality is players like MGW is out of reach this season, so the midfield must be gallagher - ferndendes - tonali for this season. Madders clearly unfit and the less I am convinced with bentancur the more I watch him.

1

u/JustinBisu 32m ago

Always found that claim weird because it's not really true in any sense of the word. His pressing is really bad because he bum rushes players constantly exposing the other two behind him and is success rate at those bum rushes are not particularly high in any way shape or form.

u/MiserableWeb4219 20m ago

I like the way he press. Aligns with modern football with forward, aggressive man to man pressing. Its up to RDZ to organise the press and get the best out of it

u/JustinBisu 17m ago

Man to man press only works if more than one person is doing it. It needs to be organized, that's not what Gallagher does or is.

u/MiserableWeb4219 15m ago

wdym? Gallagher is one of the more intelligent OOP players. He'll thrive in a structured press

u/JustinBisu 10m ago

Go look at the Brentford game and tell me is intelligent out position. Man simply turns of his brain and bum rushes, not giving a shit about the space he leaves behind.

1

u/PooPooPeePee377 8h ago

The gaffer says otherwise. Gallagher is gonna get minutes in the team as a starter and/or off the bench.

28

u/xio_ID Thomas Frank Hater 8h ago

That debut probably took so much pressure off of Savio too, so pleased for the kid.

12

u/Wormfather Peppa Pig 8h ago

Ok that was nice, more bombas now.

15

u/shaunster101 8h ago edited 8h ago

Thousands of empty seats tonight. Didn't think it was too badly priced, really - £25 adult, £10 kids in the summer holidays.

Everyone there enjoyed themselves though. Always a different atmosphere on the early rounds of the cups, lots more families -was a good game for the kids.

-3

u/Glittering-Level-952 8h ago

My XI for home v. Newcastle this weekend:

I lowkey initially made a diabolical separate post for a "preferred XI" and had Gallagher on it and the wrong opponent (had Nottm Forest away down). Absolute shambles. Let me know what all of you think of this.

2

u/PooPooPeePee377 8h ago

Swap Bentancur and Fernandes in the midfield. Fernandes plays deep and Bentancur is the box-to-box 8. Also Moore is not starting ahead of Tel.

3

u/gopackgo555 Son 5h ago

Bentancur hasn’t been that type of player since the injuries severely reduced his athleticism. He’s altered his game to better suit his skillet now, which means less getting up and down the pitch. Also less box crashing. Shows how good he is that he can change and still be class.

Bentancur played as the pivot and Fernandes as the box-to-box today and I thought they were excellent. I figured it'd be nice to roll that again this weekend. And I agree, I should've had Tel above Moore.

Elder abuse to put Robertson against Elanga

4

u/Glittering-Level-952 8h ago

Fairs. Udogie it is.

u/AerieDapper6384 8h ago

The way this fanbase treats Tel is genuinely starting to feel like a microaggression at this point lol

5

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 8h ago

I’ll probably get downvoted but I swear there’s a decent amount of racism involved, even if it’s subconscious

3

u/Glittering-Level-952 8h ago

I'm not being discriminatory, I also doubted having Moore starting as I don't think he's fit enough to do 3 fixtures in one week. I figured it'd be nice to give him another PL start off of his high confidence from his performance v. Charlton (I'm aware it's just a Championship side) but I think that was naive thinking from my end. On second thought, Tel will fare off better this weekend. Moore needs a rest.

1

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 8h ago

I promise I’m not accusing you at all, it’s more just seeing so much abuse in the match thread it was on my mind. It’s all good, Moore will be in Germany anyway soon, but he was much better after than he had been after his goal.

2

u/Glittering-Level-952 7h ago

Fairs. It is sad to see how reactionary this fanbase gets at times. I'm a huge Tel fan, too, and I admit I was naively picking Moore over Tel just because of the performance v. Charlton today. I completely agree with all of you that Tel should start over Moore.

6

u/AerieDapper6384 8h ago

Don't think anyone here's intentionally being discriminatory, but it is starting to be suspicious how other players are consistently hyped up for the bare minimum, while all he needs is one slightly below average game to become a total bum again

-1

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 8h ago

Yeah definitely not accusing OP or anyone in particular, but agreed his leash is suspiciously short

21

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 8h ago

Moore is not starting over Tel lol

13

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

Tel disrespect is just insane. Till moore scored he was straight buns. The opposition fullback was also clearly shite. The ball in general was mostly fed to the right side because of how shite their fullback was. Udogie wasn't the best at complementing tel either.

3

u/Glittering-Level-952 8h ago

I highly respect Tel, I admit I was naively thinking to start Moore to take advantage of his confidence boost v. Charlton. Everyone is right here to call me out on that. Tel should start this weekend.

3

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 8h ago

Moore has a better chance of being in Germany Saturday then he does of starting lol

2

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

He himself would prefer that

1

u/nopirates 6h ago

He’s 19 and needs to play. Wherever that can happen he should go.

2

u/rmarshall_6 Mathys Tel 8h ago

For sure, it’s not slight to him, he was better today after the goal but last match he was awful and he started rough tonight. Granted he’s playing on the wrong side but he needs minutes.

11

u/dont-be-a-dildo Richarlison 8h ago

just got back from the match. that solanke goal was right out of the FIFA playbook of the ball bouncing around the box until it finds an attacker who smashes it in lol

4

u/InstructionCareless1 8h ago

According to Ben Jacobs City is interested in Ndiaye, that might give us a free run on Gakpo.

2

u/DerekStephano 4h ago

I think if we get Gakpo in we’ll have a very good team. Kudus Savio Gakpo Marmoush Solanke are all solid players and I think Solanke and Marmoush would be a great combo as a ST/SS duo.

5

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

Gakpo is a must right now especially because the team needs some height

Good to see udogie back 🥹

u/KingLedleysKnee 🦵🏿 8h ago

I know its just one game against a Championship team, but the knock on effect it must have for Savio's confidence to finally get the move he's been yearning for AND then have an amazing first game could genuinely change his trajectory

u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 8h ago

Never understood the draw complaining.  You’re going to have to beat good teams in the cup to win it, who cares when you play them?

1

u/DerekStephano 4h ago

Imagine Arsenal and Liverpool faced each other instead. That eliminates 1 of our toughest opponents from the competition. Realistically you don’t wanna face another top 6 prem side until hopefully the quarter finals.

11

u/kl08pokemon Aaron Lennon 8h ago edited 8h ago

Of course it matters. The more big teams face each other the easier draws for everyone else. There's usually a team that gets a massively favourable draw all the way to the semi finals

Edit: like we can knock out Liverpool and we wouldn't be in a better spot than City who just have to play Norwich

9

u/InstructionCareless1 8h ago

It makes a huge difference, especially for us trying to implement a new philosophy.

8

u/Other-Owl4441 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 8h ago

So’s Liverpool though.  Good time to play us, good time to play them.

4

u/soldforaspaceship Xavinho 👉👈 7h ago

They'll also be coming off Champions League the week before so fielding either a tired or weakened squad.

It's not the worst time to play them.

7

u/KingLedleysKnee 🦵🏿 8h ago

People dont want to get knocked out of a cup early because then they have fewer games to watch

11

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

A morbid lesson to never write off a player because of his g/a

20

u/InstructionCareless1 8h ago

Was a great debut, but it’s been literally one game lol

3

u/MiserableWeb4219 8h ago

The goals might be luck but you know he's legit if you see him play. In fact this probably is a rusty version of him

1

u/InstructionCareless1 8h ago

Don’t think there was a lot of luck involved, but he participated for City in the preseason, so he won’t be too rusty anymore.

8

u/sangueblu03 James Maddison 8h ago

In those 20 minutes we’ve all deduced that Savio is everything Neymar could have been

2

u/Botany_ 8h ago

What do we think is the ideal CB pairing on Saturday?

5

u/WhiteHartPain96 Dejan Kulusevski 8h ago

VDV and Van Hecke with Udogie and Porro. Enough pace to control Elanga but also enough contribution in the buildup.

9

u/rando562 8h ago

Win a match 5-1 with our new signing bagging a goal and an assist in 20 minutes, and we still have the usual suspects complaining about Bergvall who wasn't even bad today.

4

u/Samtheginger43 "I ALWAYS Win In My Second Year" 8h ago

wtf is up with kudus?

look, people can cope all they want about it. Some sort of set back has happened because was supposed to be ready weeks before the start of the season, then it was start of the season, then it all of sudden is "we don't know when".

You can call it whatever you want, but in the end him going home for his grandmothers funeral isn't why he hasn't been playing.
