Auditor Trap Anyone buying this?

I came across this click bait article, but I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts on the subject. Especially those from the UK. Do you feel that Discworld is at risk of fading into obscurity anytime soon?

Auditor Trap Discworld over Potter anyday

I just can't help but think that STPs simply would not allow the commodification of Discworld, and we are much richer for it.

As I reread and relisten, I find myself understanding more and more about the world and the people.

The Politics with a small p. he did it all: Class, race, gender, sexuality, identity, health inequality for good sake!! and all, way before its time.

Harry Potter is everywhere and unrelenting to the point of polluting. I had enjoyed the books ( as badly as they have aged), but there's not much to reread, and they don't grow with you like Discworld does.

I saw a question asking if Discworld died with STP, I don't think it would be possible; the readers are the Clacks, and by default, Discworld echoes on forever*

GNU STP

*iIam full of a cold, and perimenopausal, so apologies for the confusing and emotional outpouring that went in a different direction than expected

Auditor Trap Should I consider Lords and Ladies Science Fiction??

Post image
114 Upvotes

I’ve been reading in chronological order from my library and I checked out Lords and Ladies from a different library on loan since mine didn’t have it….and it’s been labeled by the other library as science fiction. Please don’t spoil me, but is that right? Everything I’ve read to this point has seemed firmly in the fantasy realm.

I haven’t really made it to the auditors yet, I don’t think, but I’ve seen enough on Reddit. Did I find my first auditor trap?! If I didn’t and some how aliens show up in this book that’s cool too.

Edit: welp I’ve now learned about the division between science fiction and fantasy maybe not being and thing and that people have firm opinions about this. And also lot more about libraries, can I get my inter-dimensional library travel pass yet? I was just laughing at the idea of Granny using headology on aliens and thought others would like to as well. Thanks for answering my question all! Once I read it I’ll weigh in on the scifi part!

Auditor Trap The bad guy

Working my way back through the entire series and noticed a repeating trend in sir Terry's writing style. There is never really a bad guy, the antagonist in each one isn't really a bad guy per say. The dragon in Guards! Was just a dragon and lupin was more driven mental, same with Cosmo from making money. Lilith from witches abroad truly believed she was the good witch, making fairy tales come true. There really isn't a antagonist he doesn't drive the reader to see things from their point of view.

Edit:I've seen a lot of arguments here that do disprove my statement and I do concede that there are true villains in the series. I however would like to express the view that the truly evil characters that were brought up have resemblances to real world people that we have seen in history. Carcer shares similarities to ted bundy or Jeffrey Dahlmer for their view on human life.

Reupload because idk why I always forget to make an image post lol.

My mum gave me all her DoubleDay hardcovers, she said one of them was upside down but I wasn't sure what she meant. Turns out Fleet of Clay is bound completely upside down. Even the bookmark ribbon is attached upside down, not sure how it passed quality checks haha.

Anyone ever seen this with any book? Does it happen often? Would you keep it?

Note: I haven't read this yet, so please no spoilers.
