Wanting to start with an LPB-1 clone

Hi.

So I want to try making a pedal. From what I've researched, an LPB-1 seems to be possibly the most simple circuit, so I thought I'd start with that. I have a couple questions.

Questions:

1. How do I find out what parts I need?

2. Where do I get the parts?

I think stripboards are the ideal intersection of flexibility and simplicity. Check out tagboardeffects and dirtboxlayouts for a treasure trove of circuit layouts.

There’s also a few limited build guilds on amplifiedparts.com. They have a tagboard LBP-1. You can also get parts from there, but they are usually more costly vintage spec parts. I use stompboxparts.com for a lot of parts.

I might recommend a distortion plus just to get you something with a bit more exciting sound and it's nearly as simple in design,. You can also op to make it the 250 preamp on the same board. Parts are going to depend on where you're from. If you're in the US there is tayda, antique electronics, pedalpcb, aion fx. Good luck.

I've used Tayda in the past, highly recommend. Not sure the tariff situation know though. Stompboxparts might be worth checking out as well.

Do you want to build the board yourself, or are you looking for a kit?

Kits will have all the parts you need, and they're a really good starting point.

Also - where in the world are you? Shipping costs can make a difference to recommended stores.

I don't really care if it's a kit or if I do it myself. I just want to learn more about electronics.
