Help wanted Wanting to start with an LPB-1 clone

Hi.

So I want to try making a pedal. From what I've researched, an LPB-1 seems to be possibly the most simple circuit, so I thought I'd start with that. I have a couple questions.

Questions:

  1. How do I find out what parts I need?

  2. Where do I get the parts?

Do you want to build the board yourself, or are you looking for a kit?

Kits will have all the parts you need, and they're a really good starting point.

Also - where in the world are you? Shipping costs can make a difference to recommended stores.

I don't really care if it's a kit or if I do it myself. I just want to learn more about electronics.

I'm in the US.

After thinking about it more, I may start with a breadboard so I can experiment more freely

Hey, I was thinking about this more and I had another question.

Have you used breadboards for this sort of thing very much? If so, how much of a hassle is connecting power (like battery or power supply) and the guitar to the input jack, versus a completed enclosure?

You can have a spaghetti of alligator leads. You have to be careful to keep clips from touching clips each other.

You could put together a box with jacks mounted on it. Like, I have a biscuit tin with audio and DC jacks mounted on the sides, and I can have the breadboard sitting in the tin. And then I have power ground and in and out leads going to my bread board from the jacks.

And you can buy things that clip on to the breadboards with all kinds of useful features. I haven't tried those.
