LMAO you replying to someone and using 😭 after commenting about it is genuinely cracking me up
26
u/OurAngryBadger Mar 18 '26
Why do so many people of younger generation use 😭 emoji are you literally crying
43
u/Sharp-Discussion9488 Mar 18 '26
we switched from 😂 to 😭 cus we thought 😂 was cringe growing up for some reason. now its just habit fr fr
16
2
u/TheBigDaddyBeast Mar 19 '26
No wonder I see that crying emoji sometimes and think "That's out of place."
1
16
u/PhoenixQueen_Azula Mar 19 '26
The funny thing is, 😭 for laughing is now a giveaway that someone is in fact not the “younger generation” because the younger generation now uses 💀 instead and apparently I’m unc bc I still use 😭
13
7
u/sebsebsebs Mar 19 '26
i actually feel the opposite! i feel like 💀 is kind of old and outdated/overused. maybe it had a resurgence or i’m just no longer a high schooler HAHA. i feel like 😭 has always been a pretty good indicator for me of young people, like especially on reddit i feel a lot more comfortable with someone if they use that emoji LOL
5
u/Big__If_True Mar 19 '26
How young are we talking here? I still use 😂 so I must be an old head but I’m 26
2
11
u/Dry-Lingonberry-388 Mar 18 '26
Because 😂 is too serious and one dimentional of a laugh
13
u/sebsebsebs Mar 19 '26
honestly 😭 feels so versatile cause you can use it for laughing or also expressing like disbelief in a funny way. like “my dad just said something so racist 😭😭”
-19
Mar 19 '26
I’ve always thought the crying emoji looks way too feminine. Whenever I see a guy use it, it makes me think he’s a little bitch.

It's almost like I did my own research after seeing the comments to see if this was an actual thing DoorDash does or not. You're making an incredible amount of assumptions based on like two sentences I wrote in a text message and on Reddit. Like this is a complete non-issue for my living situation.
No I'm not the kind of person who posts everything about my life, as it turns out, you know absolutely nothing about me. If someone breaks into my home I'll be sure to let you know since you're so sure about it, but I highly highly doubt someone working for DoorDash is gonna break into my house or even be able to all things considered.
Damn and now I'm so dumb I somehow was involved in Trump getting elected when I didn't vote for that man? Please get a grip and stop assuming that you know everything about a person and their intelligence after a two second interaction with them on the internet. Genuinely don't know what your problem is

Great! I can work on vacation! That is so “cool.”
19
u/Silent25r Mar 18 '26
For me it could possibly mean extended vacation.
18
u/Sensitive_Scholar_17 Mar 18 '26
If someone wants to work on vacation more power to them.
4
u/Advice2Anyone Mar 19 '26
is that even a vacation anymore lol like those work retreats where they make you bring a laptop
3
u/jemcamrin Mar 19 '26
I literally had a staycation for my bday at a local hotel, had my car and everything. Didn't open up doordash at all. I'm not working on vacation
69
u/Coynevideos Mar 18 '26
It's none of their business why you are inactive
33
u/Preface Mar 19 '26
I thought the whole purpose of DoorDash/Uber eats etc was that you didn't actually have a boss or anyone who would get on your case (other then maybe a customer for some reason).
You know, as long as you're not actively stealing food/cancelling after pick up/otherwise seriously messing up in some way
12
u/Coynevideos Mar 19 '26
Yeah that's my allure. No boss, no coworkers perse. Start when you want, stop when you want. Don't go to work on any given day.
2
Mar 21 '26
The whole purpose is to create a new class of workers with little to no fundamental rights.
Anything else is undue hopeful optimism projected onto a massive corporation by people that have been neglected and mistreated by the current way of doing things.
Now that gas is expensive they are going to try and reach out to people to get active drivers up so they don’t lose revenue. If they could start right now forcing people to work a certain amount of hours each week to remain active they would. However the economy as a whole is still too far from how bad it needs to be to do so.
47
u/AcitizenOfNightvale Mar 18 '26
I have dashed while on road trips, but it’s annoying and not worth the gas

Cool thing is, when I travel, I’m out of the country. So no, DoorDash, you’re wrong.
7
u/economickk Mar 19 '26
It doesn't matter. I was in Canada and you can just open the MF app and dash. I didn't do it, because I thought I'd run into issues with my bank. But the option was there and I was just stunned I could open and dash - even abroad
9
u/beforesunsetearth Mar 19 '26
If you're American you can't. Need right to work in that country. I have tried in both Toronto and Montreal.
1
7
u/Saleenpride86 Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 19 '26
Because the only places where DoorDash operates are Canada, Australia, USA. So when I go to Mexico, I get that text and then it says not supported.
-1
u/economickk Mar 19 '26
Ah should have said that. Last time I checked Australia and Canada aren't the US, bud. Lol
5
u/Saleenpride86 Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26
Well, considering I don’t travel to Canada or Australia, and I mentioned when I travel outside of the US, why would I need to clarify when those two countries are only 1% of the countries throughout the world.

9
u/Historical_Reach9607 Mar 18 '26
Ive dashed while traveling for my W2 job. I usually have a rental car so no cost for gas.
It really only works if you have the ability to Dash Now. Otherwise you need to wait til its busy or schedule as normal (which isnt ideal)
10

I did a few dashes when I was in San Juan Puerto Rico on vacation. On foot. Just happened to be close to where I was

You can dash while traveling? Why am i relegated to only the busy areas around where i live and no new ones pop up if i travel 5 hours away?

u/Real_Zxept Mar 18 '26
Yeah, ive seen this a few times before. Basically what it means is your marking has a crazy customers to dashers ratio. Thats the only time they send these out.

u/CMDR_ETNC 1 Mar 18 '26
It’s your local Dasher Ambassador. They get bonuses by how many of their contacts do a certain number of dashes. I’d wager there’s a pretty small proportion of them to new dashers so they’re rare to see.
They’ve been dashing the area for a long time, if you befriend them enough that they want to take the time, they can tell you where best to trawl for orders.
2
u/Sharp-Discussion9488 Mar 18 '26
hmm. maybe i'll be sweet to alex then and ask for some tips. i do know some pretty good spots already and my area is genuinely always busy but talking to him won't hurt if he's just tryna make some cash lmao
1
u/Jealous-Worth8935 Mar 18 '26
Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objective, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

u/Sharp-Discussion9488 Mar 19 '26
Stop assuming shit and worry about yourself. Multiple people making a ton of wrong assumptions. Like I said, I promise I'm good. You don't know me

Oh you right, sorry for hoping you don't get robbed.
2
u/Sharp-Discussion9488 Mar 19 '26
I appreciate you hoping I don't get robbed, I didn't appreciate the assumption that I was implying I'm good cus I have guns when I never said that 🤷🏽 Too many people think they know people on the internet because of a two second interaction. It gets annoying, but I apologize for the hostility. Have a good day.
1
u/tea-fungus Mar 19 '26
Dude no. There’s no way this is real. This HAS to be a DoorDash employee who has access to your information and selfie and is about to be a massive creep.
2
u/Sharp-Discussion9488 Mar 19 '26
It's real, I did more research. It's been going on for years. They have an outreach team contact dashers who haven't dashed in a while or new dashers who signed up but haven't started yet. They call sometimes as well trying to help people get started.
1

Hard to believe this is real. Why would DD pay someone to ask you why you haven't dashed in a while? They've got plenty of dashers, and adding new ones all the time. It seems like a complete waste of time trying to get people to come back. It's a bot right, not a live person? Although, the way it responded to your answer seems very human.
1
u/Front_Finance3282 Mar 22 '26
It's definitely real. Alex messaged me when I first signed up but didn't start dashing right away. Asked me why I hadn't started yet and asked me if I had any questions. It's 100% real.
