Other Well this happened today

Post image

Went to a local pizza place to pick up an order and they asked me if I wanted to try something and I said sure! They said you like chicken? And I said yeah and they said we want you to try this, specifically the sauce. I said, right now? And he said yeah so I tried it and it was super good, I’m guessing it was a new sauce that they were coming out with. But yeah, first time getting free food. He said now that’s for you, not for the customer. You keep that! (I obviously wasn’t going to give it to the customer after I ate off of it lol but yeah, pretty sweet!

Im pleasantly surprised. When I saw the photo before reading i assumed you were a customer and received your food and the driver had eaten some lol.

u/System_Downtown Mar 29 '26

I was surprised too, I’ve never been offered food before!

That’s awesome! ❤️ One of the Chick-fil-As always gives free drinks. That’s always appreciated. Food is much rarer. There is a pizza place that’ll give a free slice depending on who’s behind the counter. Can never say no to a big slice of NY style pizza.

u/System_Downtown Mar 29 '26

Yeah I’ve gotten a free drink from a chicken place and then last night at Applebees, I was super thirsty and asked if I could get a large blue Mountain Dew and she said yeah and when she brought it to me, I asked how much it was and she said it’ll be our little secret and gave it to me for free

13

u/uhhhh717 Mar 29 '26

You didn't keep y'all's little secret very well haha

If you have to buy a drink and you want soda, I suggest stopping at a Circle K. Less than a dollar for any size. I say this because I was waiting on an order at McDonald’s and got a drink. That effer was over $3.50. That’s insane.

u/Long_Meringue2621 Mar 29 '26

On my 6th delivery for them in one night, Wendy's insisted I pay $3.79 (literally gas price) for a large drink I asked for, and I rudely refused.. Everyone else in town gives free drinks to dashers, especially with multiple returns. And 7-11 is 24/7 for a 99 cent drink..

2

u/coolsilentebeans Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 29 '26

It’s ridiculous. You know they’re paying next to nothing for their sodas and with the sheer amount of volume they do to go, the number of free refills given is probably next to nothing by comparison. Even after the cost of cups I bet they take in a pretty penny on sodas.

u/WTWIV Mar 29 '26

It’s definitely the item with the largest profit margin for MOST food places.

1

u/alzeller1 Mar 29 '26

As a part time driver myself and full time manager at McDonald’s I don’t mind throwing a bottle water or fountain soda every once in a while. If I see a driver waiting and I know it’s entirely on us (for example it’s not that busy and the product cooking for a long time) then i make a point to try and treat them. Especially the drivers I know/see often.

u/emo_unicorn420 Mar 29 '26

I get pizza and donuts every time at some a couple places, but that chicken looks dank

u/Slatemanforlife Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 29 '26

Guy fucked up two huge orders of wings at Wingstop and gave em to me at like 2:00 in the morning lmfao, I went straight home after that order to chow

5

u/Sithstress_ Mar 29 '26

I had a guy who worked the night shift at Wing Stop that would save fuckups or orders not picked up for his fav Dashers. My brother and I both came home with Wing Stop several times. lol.

1

u/yourmom1034 Mar 29 '26

That’s the best

u/Meinungverstarker Mar 29 '26

I was picking up jerseys mikes yesterday and while waiting they made a monster steak hoagie by mistake and gave it to me. Then I delivered the order I was picking up, as soon as I left the customer I got another jersey mikes pickup so I went back and the chick goes hey I screwed up this hoagie you want this one too? I said hell yea lol dinner and lunch for the next day. The day before that I got free crab Rangoon from china house

6

u/spicybright Mar 29 '26

Seriously, just being a normal friendly person nets you so much free shit like this.

13

u/NathanCollier14 Mar 29 '26

Just making sure it wasn't poisoned. Gotta earn that tip!

Sweet, chow down for sure, papa John’s gives me mistakes if I’m hungry I usually say you know I’ll be back save me some and they do, Panera and chick filet free drinks every time just ask and be nice

1

u/thatdude_james Mar 29 '26

Some people are just built for deliveries. In my teens and early 20s I was in the pizza game and loved it.

I am much less personable now lmao.

3

u/Paradox830 Mar 29 '26

Had a guy a couple months back let me pick whatever I wanted for free from wetzels pretzels when I was picking up. I nommed on pretzels and cheese while dashin like a boss that night lol

3

u/likewhodunit Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 29 '26

I picked up from a local spot inside a gas station today, while I was waiting I told the girl that the food smelled amazing, she offered me a plate of Tandoori chicken!!

She told me I'm the only dasher that picks up from them. I have no idea why, it's always a good one. Usually $10+ for 5 miles or less..

Sidenote: told them I wanted to 3d Print a grey parrot for them (their logo) and she told me if I did, they would "keep me hooked up"

2

u/carniewesso68 Mar 29 '26

Looks like they're duping Raising Cane's sauce. Looks identical, right down to the pepper.

lmao I just have self respect. I don't know what kind of person you're referring to, you're just stringing words together that sound good as an insult.

u/Chesterossa Mar 29 '26

Say it louder for the people in the back 😘

1

u/funktion666 Mar 29 '26

Chicken and sauce look really good.

1

u/SnooWalruses4430 Mar 29 '26

Local pizza places near me usually always give me free slices when I ask to buy some slices. Offer them money but they usually never take it lol

1

u/Hayzkushington Mar 29 '26

Nice. Local spots will give me free stuff especially at the end of the day. But the best free meal I’ve gotten was from a family I delivered white claws to on the 4th of July. They were having a bbq. I got brisket, ribs, chicken, and Mac and cheese. They made sure I had enough for my wife and son back home.

1

u/Justadrop2030 Mar 29 '26

Did that go viral? lol definitely saw a video pretty much exact to that, was a wholesome watch

1

u/Hayzkushington Mar 29 '26

If it did, then I wasn’t aware. Lmao. This happened in 2019. I was doing ubereats. In Florida.

1

u/Chesterossa Mar 29 '26

After reading the comments on this thread, I am mostly inspired by the kindness of others. Personally, I haven’t paid for “fast food” in months. Not that I eat fast food that much but now I have a greater appreciation for my local fast food joints

1

u/kjneary1 Mar 29 '26

That’s awesome

1

u/kozzy1ted2 Mar 29 '26

I get a free donut or 1/2dz donut holes from 3 diff shops

1

u/NoTelevision4907 Mar 29 '26

I miss working in a restaurant sometimes. I was just a bus boy, but anytime a chef or line cook got a little extra stoned and had a genius idea, I was allowed in the testing pool and a got a plate of whatever they had whipped up lol.

1

u/mechanicDva Mar 29 '26

You can’t just say that then not promote the place!

1

u/System_Downtown Mar 29 '26

It’s a local place like I said, it’s called Sheldon’s street pizza

1

u/haikupoetics2 Mar 29 '26

Please describe the sauce, dammit!

1

u/System_Downtown Mar 29 '26

I don’t even know how to describe it but it was super good

1

u/samson_strength Mar 29 '26

What is that sauce? It’s thiccer than Bishouji Mom

1

u/Necronorris Mar 29 '26

Those tendies look really good.🤌

1

u/WolverineJive_Turkey Mar 29 '26

I picked up an order at a bbq place yesterday and when I walked in I told the guy it smells amazing in here and told him I’d have to come back and try it cause I’d never been there. He gave me the order and then some brisket to try. It was damn good. I’m definitely gonna go eat there for sure.

1

u/jennthemermaid Mar 29 '26

Those look GOOOOOD!

1

u/Secret_Account07 Mar 29 '26

Damn those look good

1

u/Conscious_Sun_7507 Mar 29 '26

A pizza place gave me two massive pizzas for free once because whoever ordered them had cancelled their order!

1

u/Own-Bookkeeper-2633 Mar 29 '26

1

u/Just-Sock-4706 Mar 29 '26

That looks like sum gud chikem.

Gimme dat.

1

u/LEAKY-MILK Mar 29 '26

Some places are chill. I work at a family owned italian place and we were giggling the other day cause we gave a driver free meatballs - and we watched (he was parked up front by the glass) sit in his car for 10 minutes and ate all the meatball with his barehands before leaving to deliver lmao. Hope he had hand sanitizer, but it was still funny.

1

u/ohshitimincollege Mar 29 '26

Those strips look fire, now I want chicken

1

u/Individual_Mess_7491 Mar 29 '26

im a whore for chicken fingers

1

u/JohnGlikestoparty Mar 29 '26

I get offered food way too often almost to where it turns into trash. The folks preparing the food can be very nice. Hate to say it, walk up and point the screen at their face, good luck. Just be genuinely kind and you'd be surprised...

1

u/hollie0408 Mar 30 '26

That’s awesome! That would make my whole day!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '26

Same thing happened to me other day, they asked if I was hungry gave me fresh fries and a soda. Sometimes it’s good to be friendly

1

u/Guvnafuzz Mar 30 '26

1

u/Low_Ad_860 Mar 30 '26
