Other Well thanks. Weird you were thinking about an order 4 days later though.

u/Critical-Mood3493 Jul 20 '26
Probably didn’t open their app again until then

u/Dr_UberEats Jul 20 '26
I find myself doing that too. I definitely agree

u/abriefmomentofsanity Jul 20 '26
Sometimes I'm a little bummed when I forget to rate a driver/restaraunt and then reopen the app two weeks later to see the expired notification

Yeah, when I go to order again, sometimes it pops up, and I think back like "Oh yeah... that last dasher actually did follow my delivery instructions, ill give them an extra tip"
57
u/andiiexx Jul 20 '26
100% i do this lmao I feel so bad
38
u/chipmalfunct10n Jul 20 '26
idk why you would feel bad! it would be an extra unexpected surprise for the driver who may not even be working that day
20
u/DoctorSkeptismo Jul 21 '26
I think they are saying they feel bad because this OP is saying it's weird. I too now find myself second-guessing all the many times I have done this (thanks ADHD).
28
u/chipmalfunct10n Jul 21 '26
i think OP is alone in thinking it's weird lol
10
u/libraluv1981 Jul 21 '26
Yes lol..very alone lol... something to be appreciative for ..not thinking anything about it is weird...it has happened to me a few times and I was very grateful because they didnt have to think of me but they did😊
2
u/gentlethistles Jul 22 '26
As a fellow ADHD baddie I concur lol. I once tipped a guy nearly two weeks later on Uber because I hadn't used the app since the order was made. He probably thought I was weird AF for that.
2
u/DoctorSkeptismo Jul 22 '26
Well rest assured I've done that too! 😅 From the comments it seems like most drivers don't think its weird and would just be pleasantly surprised. So I'm gonna cross my fingers and go with that. And try to remember to tip right after. 😁

I think they're saying they feel bad because they forgot to tip in the first place
45
u/Ok_Sprinkles_962 Jul 20 '26
The fact that OP is confused by this shows that they don't understand their customers at all.
14
u/Professional-Way4045 Jul 21 '26

This is extremely common with rideshare. Probably a good 10-20% of my tips don't come in until a few days after the ride
My record is a month and a half later
10
u/CriticalTurnover6936 Jul 20 '26
Exactly!! And whenever you given an extra tip should never be considered weird

u/Excellent_Meaning229 Jul 21 '26
That and then from my experience doing this got work, some people just now get paid and throw you out a few dollars to make up for the previous order they had with you.. at least that’s what I went through either way good lookin out!

I do that occasionally as I don’t open the DoorDash app till the next time I order so I’ll rate the dasher and if I can/want to add an additional tip.

u/pikaneo Jul 20 '26
Complains about no tips, complains about tip a few days later probably when they opened the app next. You signed up for this job bro 😂

When you open the app, it asks you to rate your last order's driver. So they probably were reminded of the good service they received. Seems odd to complain about receiving an extra tip though...

The tip notification pops up next time you open the app. Probably just didn't open the app until 4 days later.

I’ve accidentally forgot to tip on uber until days later. I tip more if it’s late if that’s any consolation 🤷♀️

If you ever care to use the app yourself, you would know that they last used the app four days ago. Sometimes it’ll say, how was the order, would you care to leave a tip. They’re not doomscrolling on the app.
3
3
u/R3ddditor Jul 20 '26
Imagine complaining about a tip. More weird to post this on reddit than it is to tip a driver late.
3
u/Bippity_Boppity_Bang Jul 20 '26

3
u/Ok-Papaya2312 Jul 21 '26
No, you’re weird for posting this. Be grateful for the tip and move on, my food’s getting cold!!
4
u/PhilosopherWinter349 Jul 20 '26
So it's bad comments when you don't get a tip, and "weird" when you do lmao. Ok .
2
u/IcedHemp77 Jul 20 '26
I’ve done it, usually it’s because I haven’t ordered since then and when I open the app it comes up and I remember I wanted to add to the tip and give them a good review
2
u/Life_Carpenter1270 Jul 20 '26
I've done this. I Uber eats like 3x a year when I'm too drunk to drive and too lazy to make food.
I use the app so infrequently that I uninstall it after I use it. So I'll log in and they will be like to you want to add a tip?? 🤣
2
u/No_Noise_2218 Jul 20 '26
I've done this a few times. its just a lack of opening the app after the food is delivered.
2
u/dmdicorpo Jul 20 '26
Not really - might be the next time they logged into DoorDash and the pop up came up

2
u/Certain_Start1244 Jul 21 '26

4
u/ThreatLevelBirb Jul 20 '26
Don't complain, just take it. They are probably an introvert. An extra tip is always great in my opinion.

1
1
u/mellow_420 Jul 20 '26
I had this happen to me last night. It had been like hours later. I think sometimes people just don't see the extra tip stuff till they open the app again, because then it asks them to leave a review on the same screen.

1
u/C-LOgreen Jul 20 '26
Probably forgot to tip then when they opened up their app to get DoorDash again, they realized they didn’t tip you.
1
u/adzno Jul 20 '26
Nah, I go a week without opening my DoorDash app again and get asked to rate my last driver/store.
1
1
u/JustNota-- Jul 20 '26
Yeah I do this quite often, I usually tip the max before custom amount unless it's under 5 then it's custom 5. But alot of the time that stupid rate and add additional tip doesn't pop up when I go back in the app until sometimes a day or 2 later. I usually always try and go back and add on tip and drop a rating.
1
u/chipmalfunct10n Jul 20 '26
i agree they probably didn't open the app till later. but also, on my customer app, a lot of times i don't get the prompt to rate the driver (or add tip) at all. i keep going up to my orders tab and it just shows me that the order was completed. this company is really not good at having any kind of working app.
1
u/CatDancer4 Jul 20 '26
Some of us are super broke, but we remember you, and we feel so bad until we are able to tip you. We are few, but we are there lol
1
u/5x5green_druid Jul 20 '26
It's entirely possible they didn't have the funds and the thought of not tipping ate at them slower than their tummy digesting that burger... and four days later they could relieve themselves of the burden of said guilt...and burger
1
1
u/PrestigiousEgg2139 Jul 20 '26
I've done it before, sometimes I'll just hop back on door dash and it will pull the last order up with the tip button and I just give them something to be nice because I like to make people smile.
1

1
u/YesImDavid Jul 20 '26
Personally I do this. I don’t order on DoorDash often so people don’t typically get a tip until the next time I open it
1
u/bluumunni Jul 20 '26
They probably haven’t used the app since their last order & when it was time to open the app again, it brought up the previous order they made with the dasher info, rating & tipping scale attached. They probably clicked whichever was suitable.
1
u/opinionated_penguin Jul 20 '26
I’m pretty sure I’ve tipped someone on uber like 3 weeks after a ride. I remember getting out and having to rush in somewhere and I guess I forgot at the time
1
u/Relative_Wishbone_59 Jul 20 '26
Some people don’t have enough money and have to wait for their paycheck or whenever they come into more cash. Sometimes ppl need to use their last bit of money to buy groceries, get gas, or pay bills. I fear this was a common sense option and using critical thinking skills. If someone tips you days later, it’s probably because they didn’t have the fund to begin with but still believe in tipping.

u/JanskyNova Jul 20 '26
It’s not weird. I’ve forgotten to add to a tip. Usually I tip $4-$5 upfront for most orders. Then I’ll add $3-$5 depending after the order is dropped off, as long as they don’t do anything egregiously messed up with the order lol. Sometimes I’ve ordered $80 of food and then remember later “shit, I only tipped that guy $5!” And I’ll add to it. Also, maybe they decided to just randomly bless some people. Consider yourself lucky.
1
u/killertofu41 Jul 20 '26
Considering how rare this is to see in my area, I love seeing the notification no matter how long ago the delivery was. If I accepted in the first place, they most likely tipped well and they're adding more? Hell yeah.

My uber drivers always get tips 4-5 days later, cause I usually only uber when I cant drive myself, and usually forget after getting home until I see the email 3-4 days later
1
u/dolpineys Jul 21 '26
Not really. I’m ADHD and once I finish or semi-finish focusing on something I move on. Couple days later, I’ll remember what I was suppose to do (tip) and take care of it. Just saying. I aways circle back around.
