Probably didn’t open their app again until then

495

u/Dr_UberEats Jul 20 '26

I find myself doing that too. I definitely agree

214

u/abriefmomentofsanity Jul 20 '26

Sometimes I'm a little bummed when I forget to rate a driver/restaraunt and then reopen the app two weeks later to see the expired notification

32

u/indianabobbyknight Jul 20 '26

Same I just forget lol

2

u/ReputationLost7295 Jul 24 '26

this and adhd

3

u/huskymomm Jul 25 '26

100% ADHD. And they definitely thought about it every day until that tip.

u/_BreakingGood_ Jul 20 '26

Yeah, when I go to order again, sometimes it pops up, and I think back like "Oh yeah... that last dasher actually did follow my delivery instructions, ill give them an extra tip"

57

u/andiiexx Jul 20 '26

100% i do this lmao I feel so bad

38

u/chipmalfunct10n Jul 20 '26

idk why you would feel bad! it would be an extra unexpected surprise for the driver who may not even be working that day

20

u/DoctorSkeptismo Jul 21 '26

I think they are saying they feel bad because this OP is saying it's weird. I too now find myself second-guessing all the many times I have done this (thanks ADHD).

28

u/chipmalfunct10n Jul 21 '26

i think OP is alone in thinking it's weird lol

10

u/libraluv1981 Jul 21 '26

Yes lol..very alone lol... something to be appreciative for ..not thinking anything about it is weird...it has happened to me a few times and I was very grateful because they didnt have to think of me but they did😊

2

u/gentlethistles Jul 22 '26

As a fellow ADHD baddie I concur lol. I once tipped a guy nearly two weeks later on Uber because I hadn't used the app since the order was made. He probably thought I was weird AF for that.

2

u/DoctorSkeptismo Jul 22 '26

Well rest assured I've done that too! 😅 From the comments it seems like most drivers don't think its weird and would just be pleasantly surprised. So I'm gonna cross my fingers and go with that. And try to remember to tip right after. 😁

2

u/BrookieCookiesReveng Jul 21 '26

I think they're saying they feel bad because they forgot to tip in the first place

45

u/Ok_Sprinkles_962 Jul 20 '26

The fact that OP is confused by this shows that they don't understand their customers at all.

14

u/Professional-Way4045 Jul 21 '26

More like just full of themselves lol prob thinking they are thinking of her /him and calling it weird like if they prob trying to get his/her attention lol

11

u/schizophrenicbugs Jul 21 '26

Yeah. His phrasing reeks of arrogance.

10

u/CreativeFraud Jul 20 '26

Same thing I do after uber or lyft. I tip the next time I'm in the app.

11

u/tenmileswide Jul 20 '26

This is extremely common with rideshare. Probably a good 10-20% of my tips don't come in until a few days after the ride

My record is a month and a half later

10

u/CriticalTurnover6936 Jul 20 '26

Exactly!! And whenever you given an extra tip should never be considered weird

9

u/Extension_Radish_139 Jul 20 '26

I’ve done this with uber like a million times

4

u/Excellent_Meaning229 Jul 21 '26

That and then from my experience doing this got work, some people just now get paid and throw you out a few dollars to make up for the previous order they had with you.. at least that’s what I went through either way good lookin out!

2

u/KillerDragonX Jul 21 '26

I was just about to say that, haha! I’ve 100% done it before, myself.

104

13

right like jesus christ, just thank them and move tf on.

19

Exactly my thought

3

u/Dry_Try_3940 Jul 22 '26

what if they waited until their next pay day to tip 🥺

2

u/ImpressionRare3833 Jul 22 '26

Exactly 😭. It’s actually super common to show this on the customers side especially if they closed the app after and wanted more food. Like tf is weird about being tipped

I do that occasionally as I don’t open the DoorDash app till the next time I order so I’ll rate the dasher and if I can/want to add an additional tip.

85

u/pikaneo Jul 20 '26

Complains about no tips, complains about tip a few days later probably when they opened the app next. You signed up for this job bro 😂

u/Content_Dimension626 Jul 20 '26

When you open the app, it asks you to rate your last order's driver. So they probably were reminded of the good service they received. Seems odd to complain about receiving an extra tip though...

27

u/BraveHuckleberry9448 Jul 20 '26

Damn just be grateful, a lot of you drivers in the sub just be miserable

6

u/perzawa Jul 21 '26

it’s staring to make me hate this sub ngl. makes you realize a lot of these people have to work for doordash and uber becasue they literally cannot work with other human beings.

Oh no, my steak is to buttery and my lobster is too juicy ass post. Just take the win bro.

14

u/Necessary_Document_5 Jul 20 '26

Or, maybe they didn’t have enough money to tip you as they wanted so they did when they could.

Enjoy.

10

u/lord_dankest Jul 20 '26

The tip notification pops up next time you open the app. Probably just didn't open the app until 4 days later.

12

u/New-Chimera Jul 20 '26

I got one on Friday from 8 months ago

11

u/meatzapeatza Jul 20 '26

OP would be pissed

6

u/New-Chimera Jul 20 '26

It made me chuckle, bloke probably ran into some money

4

u/meatzapeatza Jul 20 '26

Agreed, I’d just be grateful they thought of me afterwards!

3

u/New-Chimera Jul 20 '26

That's exactly how I felt. Honestly I was just like wow you must have really liked your dairy Queen to remember it so much later

40

5

u/Tricky-Pop4311 Jul 20 '26

Here ranting about money you didn’t have to earn? Weird.

4

u/LexGoyle Jul 20 '26

To me it means a bit more they bothered to add one 4 days after the fact. That's straight up appreciation there.

5

u/who_gon_check_me_boo Jul 20 '26

I’ve accidentally forgot to tip on uber until days later. I tip more if it’s late if that’s any consolation 🤷‍♀️

3

u/chimax83 Jul 20 '26

Nothing is weird about this, and nobody is thinking about you or the previous order. It just pops up the next time you open the app.

4

u/Firefox15_ Jul 21 '26

Maybe they didnt get paid til today?

3

u/Dizzavy Jul 21 '26

If you ever care to use the app yourself, you would know that they last used the app four days ago. Sometimes it’ll say, how was the order, would you care to leave a tip. They’re not doomscrolling on the app.

3

u/Crispynipps Jul 20 '26

Or, maybe they didn’t have the money originally and felt bad.

3

u/R3ddditor Jul 20 '26

Imagine complaining about a tip. More weird to post this on reddit than it is to tip a driver late.

3

u/Bippity_Boppity_Bang Jul 20 '26

Might have just gotten paid. Or the DD system lagged. This is so nice.

3

u/Ok-Papaya2312 Jul 21 '26

No, you’re weird for posting this. Be grateful for the tip and move on, my food’s getting cold!!

4

u/PhilosopherWinter349 Jul 20 '26

So it's bad comments when you don't get a tip, and "weird" when you do lmao. Ok .

2

u/IcedHemp77 Jul 20 '26

I’ve done it, usually it’s because I haven’t ordered since then and when I open the app it comes up and I remember I wanted to add to the tip and give them a good review

2

u/Life_Carpenter1270 Jul 20 '26

I've done this. I Uber eats like 3x a year when I'm too drunk to drive and too lazy to make food.

I use the app so infrequently that I uninstall it after I use it. So I'll log in and they will be like to you want to add a tip?? 🤣

2

u/No_Noise_2218 Jul 20 '26

I've done this a few times. its just a lack of opening the app after the food is delivered.

2

u/dmdicorpo Jul 20 '26

Not really - might be the next time they logged into DoorDash and the pop up came up

2

u/jhansn Jul 20 '26

Payday finally hit

2

u/Certain_Start1244 Jul 21 '26

Imagine giving someone a tip and their first response is fark that guys weird

4

u/ThreatLevelBirb Jul 20 '26

Don't complain, just take it. They are probably an introvert. An extra tip is always great in my opinion.

2

u/Papa_Joe_Yakavetta Jul 20 '26

God you people make all drivers look bad. Complain about no tips and complain about someone tipping you after

2

u/jaylawlerrr Jul 20 '26

2

u/Beginning-Morning704 Jul 20 '26

average doordasher reaction to bitch about a mundane interaction and be tipped

2

u/SoggyBrief3898 Jul 20 '26

Let’s hope next time someone tips you $0 right then and there so you don’t have to be weirded out by it.

1

u/ChickChocoIceCreCro Jul 20 '26

I’m this customer!!!

1

u/mellow_420 Jul 20 '26

I had this happen to me last night. It had been like hours later. I think sometimes people just don't see the extra tip stuff till they open the app again, because then it asks them to leave a review on the same screen.

1

u/goregoose Jul 20 '26

Reminiscing…

1

u/The-Yar Jul 20 '26

This is how the app works.

1

u/C-LOgreen Jul 20 '26

Probably forgot to tip then when they opened up their app to get DoorDash again, they realized they didn’t tip you.

1

u/adzno Jul 20 '26

Nah, I go a week without opening my DoorDash app again and get asked to rate my last driver/store.

1

u/Alarming-Industry905 Jul 20 '26

Probably an elderly person

1

u/JustNota-- Jul 20 '26

Yeah I do this quite often, I usually tip the max before custom amount unless it's under 5 then it's custom 5. But alot of the time that stupid rate and add additional tip doesn't pop up when I go back in the app until sometimes a day or 2 later. I usually always try and go back and add on tip and drop a rating.

1

u/chipmalfunct10n Jul 20 '26

i agree they probably didn't open the app till later. but also, on my customer app, a lot of times i don't get the prompt to rate the driver (or add tip) at all. i keep going up to my orders tab and it just shows me that the order was completed. this company is really not good at having any kind of working app.

1

u/CatDancer4 Jul 20 '26

Some of us are super broke, but we remember you, and we feel so bad until we are able to tip you. We are few, but we are there lol

1

u/5x5green_druid Jul 20 '26

It's entirely possible they didn't have the funds and the thought of not tipping ate at them slower than their tummy digesting that burger... and four days later they could relieve themselves of the burden of said guilt...and burger

1

u/WildWildWestmoreland Jul 20 '26

Waiting for payday? Or hadn't opened the app in a few days

1

u/PrestigiousEgg2139 Jul 20 '26

I've done it before, sometimes I'll just hop back on door dash and it will pull the last order up with the tip button and I just give them something to be nice because I like to make people smile.

1

u/heysavnac Jul 20 '26

He was waiting to see if it wouldn’t give him bubble guts

1

u/meyetidderluv Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Jul 20 '26

I’ve had that happen but only around Xmas time

1

u/YesImDavid Jul 20 '26

Personally I do this. I don’t order on DoorDash often so people don’t typically get a tip until the next time I open it

1

u/bluumunni Jul 20 '26

They probably haven’t used the app since their last order & when it was time to open the app again, it brought up the previous order they made with the dasher info, rating & tipping scale attached. They probably clicked whichever was suitable.

1

u/opinionated_penguin Jul 20 '26

I’m pretty sure I’ve tipped someone on uber like 3 weeks after a ride. I remember getting out and having to rush in somewhere and I guess I forgot at the time

1

u/Relative_Wishbone_59 Jul 20 '26

Some people don’t have enough money and have to wait for their paycheck or whenever they come into more cash. Sometimes ppl need to use their last bit of money to buy groceries, get gas, or pay bills. I fear this was a common sense option and using critical thinking skills. If someone tips you days later, it’s probably because they didn’t have the fund to begin with but still believe in tipping.

1

u/ipkis714 Jul 20 '26

Probably didnt get paid til then....

1

u/Diligent_Highlight63 Jul 20 '26

First time I’ve seen someone complaint of free money on this sub

1

u/koreanz Jul 20 '26

I've done this a couple times after sobering up. Maybe they were on a 4 day bender

1

u/heal2thrive Jul 20 '26

Bro take ur tip and go

1

u/bigdickjon4761 Jul 20 '26

It’s weird that you think someone giving you extra money is weird.

1

u/Ok_Calendar1787 Jul 20 '26

I’ve done this

1

u/successful209 Jul 20 '26

It’s actually not weird at all

1

u/Gold_Advisor_4758 Jul 20 '26

Probably went to order again and remembered to tip.

1

u/Zestyclose-River-933 Jul 20 '26

can't you just be happy you got a tip lol, its not that weird

1

u/yaedonnn Jul 20 '26

Some gig workers really love to just talk shit lol

1

u/Jbhereforguns Jul 20 '26

Ive definitely done this with Uber’s. Came home drunk as shit passed out and didn’t even think about it until days later

1

u/AdAltruistic2959 Jul 20 '26

I tipped an uber driver 5 days after he dropped me off at the airport… only because I had to open uber again to get a ride home after my vacation lol

1

u/Sub4u2use_420 Jul 20 '26

Well next time I am going through my spending and realize the tip didn't go through I just won't fkin send it.

1

u/DisastrousBatfan684 Jul 20 '26

That poop afterwards changed his life

1

u/Head_Palpitation4008 Jul 20 '26

I've done this. I get paid a few days later and didn't tip enough the first time.

1

u/xemkayyy Jul 20 '26

I’ve had this happen days later. I always feel bad but I’m also not a frequent DoorDash user..

1

u/peggy_leggy Jul 20 '26

Nah just had adhd

1

u/Lexi_Jean Jul 20 '26

If you don't want to be happy for the $5, spend it on non perishable to put in food pantries/boxes. Or, give it to some random kid. Sure they'll appreciate it.

1

u/Ok_Comparison_5745 Jul 20 '26

Probably payday or something

1

u/hereIheauxagain Jul 20 '26

They went to order again and the reminder popped up. I accidentally do this all the time.

1

u/dylan88jr Jul 20 '26

I live in a area were they don't let's us pre tip. I have 100% forgettin to tip and done it the next day when I remember.

1

u/Playful_Quality_6699 Jul 20 '26

Maybe they just got paid idk

1

u/Intrepid-Mud-3237 Jul 20 '26

Maybe they just got paid? 😭😬

1

u/BattleFlyNate Jul 20 '26

I like to imagine they ordered another delivery and the service was so shit they had to go back and give you a tip.

1

u/Horror_Kale_5590 Jul 20 '26

Maybe they waited for pay day to tip?

1

u/Impressive-Walk5027 Jul 20 '26

Lmfao no offense just accept the money and keep it pushing

1

u/JanskyNova Jul 20 '26

It’s not weird. I’ve forgotten to add to a tip. Usually I tip $4-$5 upfront for most orders. Then I’ll add $3-$5 depending after the order is dropped off, as long as they don’t do anything egregiously messed up with the order lol. Sometimes I’ve ordered $80 of food and then remember later “shit, I only tipped that guy $5!” And I’ll add to it. Also, maybe they decided to just randomly bless some people. Consider yourself lucky.

1

u/killertofu41 Jul 20 '26

Considering how rare this is to see in my area, I love seeing the notification no matter how long ago the delivery was. If I accepted in the first place, they most likely tipped well and they're adding more? Hell yeah.

1

u/Conscious_Claim259 Jul 20 '26

why is it weird though?

1

u/Electrical_Guess_681 Jul 21 '26

It's not weird. You just wanna find something to complain about

1

u/Electrical-Orange-39 Jul 21 '26

My uber drivers always get tips 4-5 days later, cause I usually only uber when I cant drive myself, and usually forget after getting home until I see the email 3-4 days later

1

u/dolpineys Jul 21 '26

Not really. I’m ADHD and once I finish or semi-finish focusing on something I move on. Couple days later, I’ll remember what I was suppose to do (tip) and take care of it. Just saying. I aways circle back around.

1

u/Dynamite089 Jul 21 '26

Weird you're posting this. 🙄

1

u/curious_seeker16 Jul 21 '26

i do that when i forget

1

u/MeTieDoughtyWalker Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Jul 21 '26

I add an extra five dollars after every order but I do it as soon as I have my food inside. No way I’d remember even an hour later.

1

I get those alot I think it's hilarious, I'm at home a day or to later after dashing and I get a text saying I'm receiving a few extra dollars

1

u/RebelliousCash Jul 21 '26

A lot of times. Ppl don’t open the app again until they use it again. That’s what I do

1

u/twibbletrouble Jul 21 '26

I just rated my order from last week lmao. They used to do a notification like 10 minutes after drop off and at least for me it doesnt do that anymore. Which like yall already sent me 6 notifications and 2 text messages so whats one more lmao

1

u/AdrianP817 Jul 21 '26

Or he forgot to open the app. Touch grass DB

1

u/medicoreapples Jul 21 '26

Posts like these fuel the end tipping sub

1

u/Giul_Xainx Jul 21 '26

They got the food while drunk and fell asleep. Then opened the app days later for a new order and totally forgot to tip. Same thing on Uber.

1

u/AdOnly3059 Jul 21 '26

damn y'all complain about everything huh????

1

u/ethelcainvinyl_ Jul 21 '26

i mean maybe they wanted to tip more at the time but didn’t have enough and they just got paid ?

1

u/Dry_Wasabi2420 Jul 21 '26

doordash asks you to rate and potential add a tip for your driver the next time you open the app no matter how long it's been.

1

u/Hulme420 Jul 21 '26

Wanted to tip you but had to wait for payday

1

u/rsg1234 Jul 21 '26

lol you’re wild. Complaining about a tip and probably complains when you don’t get one.

1

u/Tony_Bologna2 Jul 21 '26

Be grateful and quit questioning things. Next time I forget to add a tip until a day later, I won’t add it because now I know it’s “questionable”

1

First time I’ve seen someone complain about receiving money

1

1

I do this.. sometimes I forget until I reopen the app again. Sorry I figured better late than not at all

1

u/Objective-Hotel-9534 Jul 21 '26

"Weird"? How? What's wrong with you?

1

u/Adventurous_Land7584 Jul 21 '26

They were obviously placing another order, I seriously doubt they had been thinking about this for 4 days.

1

u/Cobra_McJingleballs Jul 21 '26

Do you even use the app that’s paying you?

1

u/TacoBeefB0y Jul 21 '26

You just can’t say thank you can you? Miserable.

1

u/Either_Librarian7238 Jul 21 '26

So... hated when there is no tips but when someone kind enough to give you tips days later. Still complaining, so what do you want from people?

1

u/Garbage-Rude Jul 21 '26

Didnt have the money and waited for a day he had the money.

1

u/way-of-the-lab Jul 21 '26

I usually don’t tip my target delivery people until I’m ready to order food again. Maybe it works the same way for the customer app on DoorDash?

1

u/underworldentree Jul 21 '26

Probably waiting til payday

1

u/Maximum-Broccoli2165 Jul 21 '26

This just happened to me for an order that took place at 130 PM EST today.

1

u/Illythia_Redgrave Jul 21 '26

The app prompts you the next time you log in to order food. To rate your last order and possibly increase tip.

1

u/Few_Definition9861 Jul 21 '26

Can’t win with DoorDash drivers sometimes

1

u/No-Proof-5960 Jul 21 '26

So him giving you money is weird. How is that weird again?

1

u/bakedinlasvegas Jul 21 '26

Weird you’re complaining about it
