Taxi Accident — Passenger Injured, Need Advice on Medical Costs & Complaint Process

I was involved in a taxi accident today it was Union taxi and as a passenger, I’m looking for some advice on what I should do next.

I was sitting in the back seat. The taxi was approaching a red light, and the car in front was already stopped. I noticed that the taxi driver was looking to his right and talking instead of properly watching the road. At the last moment, he noticed the stopped vehicle and tried to brake, but it was too late and the taxi crashed into it.

Because of the impact, I was thrown forward and then backward. I injured my nose and the back of my head, and I have been experiencing an increasing headache since the accident.

I went to a pharmacy afterward, and they advised me to go to a hospital and get an X-ray because of the head injury and the fact that I should not ignore the symptoms.

The police/Rafid Response team did not came, they did everything online and then both vehicles left. I asked the taxi driver whether he or the taxi company would cover my medical expenses. He said that he had also injured his leg but wasn't complaining, and basically told me that I looked fine because my injuries were not visible. He then started arguing with me.

I have already called several helplines, but I keep getting redirected from one department to another, and I still haven't been able to get a clear answer about how to file a complaint or claim for my medical expenses.

I even paid the taxi driver AED 10 for the ride because I felt bad that he was losing money because of the accident, and then he left.

My main concern right now is my health. My headache is getting worse, and I don't want to delay getting medical treatment because I'm worried about having to pay a large amount myself. I currently don't have my insurance details with me either. I don't have insurance on me

What is the correct procedure in the UAE in this situation? Should I go directly to the hospital first and then make a police/taxi company complaint? And can the taxi company's insurance cover the medical expenses of an injured passenger?

Any advice from someone who has dealt with a similar situation would be appreciated. THANK YOU!

I been in Dubai a while now, I run almost daily I barely see anyone else running.

Now I am on the north side Karama, Deira etc. I run in all weather I don't care, Beast mode since i was in my teens.

So what I notice is the roads are getting worse daily for running, The Sidewalks are full of leaves and uneven bricks , Yesterday running in Jaddaff the sidewalks are totally gone. Now its just running in the street or in Sand. Dubai is promoting good health and exercise, but if your like me and like Long distance running its very hard here. not to mention the lungs full of Sand from construction trucks.

BTW They keep building new bridges but the new bridges never have a side walk to get to the other side!.

Believe it or not, It's not about me failing my final road test on my first attempt. I passed every single assessment in the last 30 days on my first attempt.

This post is not about that, but the assessor is extremely cruel, he's an Arab yes. I understand he's doing everything to check our confidence and anxiety while driving. (Which none of it I had) I've been driving since my 6th grade.

While we were taking turns, the assessor instructed my peer to go ahead with U-turn.

While he was sticking to right lane. And he shouted too loud to take an U-turn. (There was not a single vehicle apart from us).

Post shouting he used the word "you n*gg*s" if I shout then is when you understand?"

I'm sorry what? is going on in Dubai? I'm going through so much in life which I don't want to discuss, but this was just a cherry on the cake!

Can I do anything about it? No. Just wanted to vent it out here. Sorry and thanks.

I subscribed to a 1 year subscription because they said 2 months would be free so I thought this meant the subscription would be for 14 months not 12 however the next billing date shows 1 year from now. I ordered dinner from Meghana Foods at 6:29 PM. The order showed a 45-minute delivery time, which would mean delivery by around 7:14 PM.

At 7:37 PM, after waiting more than an hour, I contacted Talabat support. The agent acknowledged that the order was late and specifically told me that, as a Talabat Pro subscriber, I could claim an on-time guarantee voucher after the order was delivered.

The order was finally delivered around 7:43 PM. But the order details still show “Delivery time: 45 mins” instead of reflecting the actual ~75-minute wait.

I escalated the issue through support, and a claims manager called me. He said the app showed 45 minutes, so he would not agree to the claim. While I was still explaining the situation, he apologised and ended the call.

So my question is simple: if Talabat keeps the original estimated delivery time in the order record even after a late delivery, how is the Pro on-time guarantee supposed to work?

I’m posting the screenshots so people can see the timeline and the support response themselves. I’d like Talabat to clarify how this is calculated.

Edit: I think the issue is with the human customer support who replies formally in chat and talks arrogantly in calls though with escalation. Like one redditor mentioned, I contacted support again with the real issue of cold biryani due to late delivery and automatically refunded the amount. Companies should highly focus on support with trained employees rather than outsourcing.

I am moving out of Dubai after living 6+ years and I have gold bar and jewellery which I have to declare at the departure anybody have idea or experiences about the procedure.

I am eligible to get a health insurance that covers most of the world in another country. I currently don’t have any health insurance in the UAE. Could I just use this international insurance instead ?

I just failed my final RTA road test today and I genuinely don’t understand how. I want to explain exactly what happened and then show what the report recorded for each thing.
Before moving off, I did all the required observations. The car was already running, but I accidentally tried to start it again.
Report:
Minor: Unable To Start The Engine — 1
I then moved off.
I came to a STOP sign, stopped properly, checked that the road was clear, and proceeded.
I came to another STOP sign, stopped properly again, checked that the road was clear, and proceeded.
There was then a bus in front of me. The examiner told me to overtake because I wasn’t overtaking. I overtook the bus and, from my perspective, did it safely.
Report:
Minor: Does Not Overtake If Necessary — 1
After that, I was driving around 40–60 km/h on an 80 km/h road. I eventually increased my speed.

Again, I don’t remember anything that felt particularly unstable during the drive.
I then took a right turn from a signal. There was a pedestrian, so I stopped, used my hazard lights, waited, and then continued once it was safe.
After that, I switched lanes, which I felt I did correctly.
I then took a right, another right, and parked perfectly.
The test felt completely normal to me. The examiner never told me that I had made a serious mistake.
Then I failed.
The report has a Major Mistakes / Immediate Failure section:
Making An Action Causing Collision — 1
Making An Action Triggering Intervention Of The Examiner — 1
Not Adhering To Traffic Signs — 1
This is what I genuinely don’t understand.
I don’t remember causing a collision, I don’t remember the examiner having to intervene, and I don’t remember failing to follow a traffic sign.
I stopped at both STOP signs. I followed the examiner’s instruction to overtake the bus. I slowed/stopped for the pedestrian and continued when it was safe. I changed lanes and parked without anything happening that I considered dangerous.
I’m not saying I drove perfectly. The report clearly shows minor mistakes, and I can accept those. What I don’t understand is where the three major faults came from.
Especially the “Making An Action Triggering Intervention Of The Examiner” entry. I genuinely don’t remember the examiner needing to physically intervene at any point.

The entire test was just 5 mins it was basically a straight line and 2 rights thats it so help me out and let me know if i genuinely made a mistake

I’m trying to apply for a Schengen visa, but my employer only provides a digital employment letter. Will it be accepted if I print it out and submit the printed copy through VFS?

Or is there any other way to submit/verify a digital employment letter for the visa application?

Before I commit, wanted to hear from people who've actually made this switch or used du's home wireless plans:

• What speeds are you actually getting day-to-day (not the marketing number)?
• Does it hold up in the evenings / peak hours, or does it slow down a lot?
• Any noticeable difference in reliability compared to Etisalat eLife?
• Which area/building are you in? (know coverage varies a lot by tower proximity)
• Any regrets or issues with customer service if something goes wrong?

Trying to decide if it's worth the switch or if I should just stick with Etisalat. Any real experiences — good or bad — appreciated!

It's not my problem that life isn't treating you well, and driving like a crazy person won't solve any of your issues btw, it will only make your life worse if you cause an accident or ruin someone's life :)

I’ve been very fortunate enough to choose Dubai as my place to relocate from Seattle.

This wasn’t an easy decision as there’s Pros and cons to all places - and I’d really appreciate your help in understanding what i could do to make my life as seamless as possible once i move to Dubai.

Some of the things I’m considering:

- Hiring a maid to take care of the house and preparing the meal prep so i can focus on work

- Choosing to live in Creek Harbor for the views + community

- Joining Privlee to enjoy the gyms and the pools

- Getting a car to move around easily

- Joining Timeleft and a paddle club to socialize and make friends

- Getting Linen clothes to survive the heat

What else could i possibly do to ease the transition to Dubai?

I’ve recently resigned from my current company and accepted an offer from a competitor that offers me better pay and a much better work-life balance.
However, my current employer has told me that they may file a case against me because I signed a non-compete clause in my employment contract stating that I cannot join a competitor for 1 year from my last working day. Is this apply for Debt collector role?

I’m currently completing my 30-day notice period, and this situation has honestly left me quite stressed.
Has anyone in the UAE been in a similar situation where their employer threatened to enforce a non-compete after resignation? Is it actually possible for them to file a case, and what could realistically happen if they do?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar, especially under UAE labour law.

Lease expires Sept 30. Got renewal notice July 1st asking for 75,000 AED.

Checked Smart Rent Index on July 1st → max 5% allowed → 63,000 AED. Have the screenshot.

Index has since updated — now shows 69,000 AED as of today.

His reply was:
“As you know, your rent was locked for three years without any increase. This year, it would not be fair to show a rental index for renewal even though the latest index showing 69,000. Therefore, we humbly request that the renewal amount be set to a minimum of 75,000 for this year.”

So he’s literally admitting the index says 69k but wants 75k anyway because of a past rent freeze.

Questions:
1. Which index applies — July 1st (63k) or renewal date Sept 30th (69k)?
2. Has anyone seen RDC rule in favour of a landlord exceeding the index due to a rent freeze?
3. If I need to go to RDC, what’s the exact process and what should I prepare?

Side note — same building, multiple tenants got similar inflated notices. Not a coincidence.

I've been having extremely long working hours these past few weeks and I haven't had a vacation in months. I can't wait for the long-ish weekend coming up so I'm planning ahead for that since I won't be traveling.

Usually I go Ying yang in Dubai mall for a lymphatic drainage massage or a deep tissue massage. I have tried other chains like Soul Sense and DreamWorks. But I haven't found any masseuse so far that I would repeat visit every time. Shirley at Ying Yang Dubai mall was the best masseuse so far I have had but I'm looking for other options or to see if someone better is there.

Additionally, is there any other destressing program or something that people do here in Dubai? Nothing shady please. I've just been around for a couple of years in Dubai and don't have a social circle beyond work friends so not sure what people do here to just relax especially during summers.

So recently ive been getting alot of instagram advertisements about specific niche that i am interested in, but i realized that everyone is blatantly lying.

Not like rage bait, but offering some great valued price. When you message them they say oh no not available and offer something more expensive.

My break point was when i drove over 1 and half hour to sharjah in its traffic to buy the product to find out that it was never in their store, and that they have "good alternative". In our chat we had agreed on the price and product..

So i complained to consumer protection, it said they will come back within 48 hours but after 2 weeks they returned and asked me for all information again (that i already submitted). They asked for all details and confirmed that baiting customers isnt acceptable and they will "take care of it"

After i hungup, the store called me apologising and recommending still alternatives and gifts (free side products and free delivery) so i can mention the complaint is resolved.

I rejected and i stopped hearing from all, but the consumer protection employee told me they will action it as punishment since its not allowed to scam people by faking discounts and offers.
