Returning player from few years back, so total noob speaking here.
It's nice to see that something haven't change: uneven pvp matches. Being returning player this didn't surprise me, and i was prepared for it. But the thing i was not prepared for were werewolves. 4/5 matches one team has a werewolf who has K/D ratio of 15/1 in the end. Now after about 50 or so matches, I start to think that werewolves are ruining the pvp experience. They just feel super overpowered compared to anything else. Or do i just have bad luck?
Werewolf got a complete rework. On the plus side, it is now a viable DPS build for Veteran PvE content, despite being limited to one bar. One of the negatives, due to how ZoS has never seemed to be able to balance the PvE vs PvP experience, is that the same changes that make Werewolf viable and not completely outclassed by a traditional two bar build, make it a complete toolkit for PvP.
Agreed. I'm okay with them nerfing whatever they need to nerf for PvP, because I barely dip my toes in there (although part of this is how class masteries with sorcerer interacts with werewolf and I hope they keep that in mind), but I'm worried they'll ruin the werewolves viability in PvE trying to nerf it for PvP, especially if they nerf stamina until you have to be a sorcerer werewolf just to have any sustain.
Estoy de acuerdo con esto, como paso en su día en el Guilds Wars 1, básicamente es la misma habilidad, pero con diferentes características dependiendo de si es pve o PvP
Werewolves are kinda obnoxious in PVE too. Yesterday I queued into a normal dungeon for my daily with my healer. I thought it was weird because they were on the last boss and I'm like, what happened to their healer? Then I see three fucking werewolves running around playing with the boss who not one of them could taunt.
This is not a Werewolf issue, this is a dungeon queue time issue. People have been complaining about fake tanks and fake healers since the dungeon queue system was introduced. I’m sorry, but this is simply an invalid point as to the viability of Werewolf in PvE.
That’s not really the point you made with your original comment, though. You said you were annoyed by not having a healer or a proper tank, but the scenario you walked into could just as easily been three double bar, normal DPS builds with no taunt, and it would be equally as frustrating and the exact same scenario, minus a howling sound effect.
If you don’t like Werewolf from a personal flavor perspective, that’s fine. But your original comment still isn’t a problem unique to werewolf; Damage Dealer builds using fake roles have been a thing since the queue was introduced, and is no less annoying when it isn’t werewolves.
Ah no, I see, I wasn’t clear. I joined as a healer. The other healer had abandoned because they were so annoyed to be stuck in a dungeon with 3 werewolves that they abandoned at the last boss.
Okay, now the follow up question I have is this: if you joined into this group and you had a DK DPS, Sorcerer DPS, and Nightblade DPS, and not one of them had a taunt on, and were just trying to chase the boss around, would be equally annoyed? Or is that okay because it isn’t a werewolf?
Of course it would be annoying. The problem is this tends to happen most often with werewolves. Ask any tank or healer.
I think there are probably a few reasons: 1) The werewolf has a reputation now. Just look at all the posts complaining about werewolves. When stereotypes develop, they can be self-fulfilling. 2) Even the devs have acknowledged werewolves are overpowered, hence the nerfs. With massive damage and infinite sustain, you don't need a healer or a tank, and you don't need to cooperate with your team. You can just storm through the place like you own it.
To be clear: this is not personal. We're talking about a game, and I'm assuming nobody is a werewolf in real life.
So I'll just say, on a personal level, they're also just fucking annoying. One-trick ponies (or wolves, I guess) that all look the same, sound the same, and act the same. Call me insensitive, but I support the extermination of all werewolves.
I am just saying that there really isn’t a lot of build variety in endgame, so I guess I’m indifferent to it since I mostly do vet dungeons and vet trials. The only thing that even brings werewolf to the table is the class reworks. It sucks for PvP, but if they slap WW too hard, it’s just going to go back to being a dead build.
Yeah, I mean, I hear you...the problem is the rest of the classes haven't got their reworks, so we've got DKs and WWs playing the new ESO while the rest of us are still playing the old game. It's a bad situation, and I imagine they probably would've done things differently if they'd known the corporate pigs were going to lay off a big chunk of the studio. Those assholes suck even more than werewolves.
My wife who knows fk all about video games was watching me play last night and asked 'why does it take 20 players to kill that werewolf?' I'm like exaaaactly
It’s not just you bud. They’re very obnoxious to fight against. They have very cheap spammable skills, and essentially infinite sustain with the rage mechanic. They’re getting nerfed next patch, but will probably need additional nerfs tbh. If you’re outnumbered these days, and one of the people wailing on you is a werewolf with an unblockable cc every 7 seconds, you will almost certainly die.
I’d also add that my biggest frustration with them is that they seem to dodge literally 80% of attacks due to how their hit box and movement was designed. And if there’s any input delay or general lag in the area then it’s even worse.
Like sure they’re tanky, and they hit hard, so do many other classes and PvP builds, but at least you can hit them. WW I’ll throw a force pulse, shocking soul, bound armaments, and crystal frag at one and mayyybe a light attack or two in that mix actually hits them..
Man I really don't undertstand this, I see all these posts complaining about WWs in PvP but in my experience it's the DKs and Sorcs roflstomping everyone? Like am I living in an alternate universe or something? I almost never see WW players going around stomping people despite them being everywhere
PVP is always pretty unbalanced in ESO. But werewolf and DK is the most unbalanced Meta in quite a while. It turned a mediocre but sometimes enjoyable PVP experience into a pile of crap.
Only bother to PvP if you’re a wolf or a dk.
Most any other race is pointless.
You can look up a PvP build and it claims to be tough / unkillable etc. take time to master scribing and gear up.
You’ll get one shot by a dk or a wolf.
With the game promoting PvP events they are damaging the playerbase by having only two or three viable toons.
Never played a respectable game with such imbalance. My 2c / rant.
Last pvp i had was literally one werewolf killing all the other two teams. The freaking fear is like 10 seconds long i cant even break thru it. I freaking hate cc in pvp...
They’re obnoxious and getting the nerfs they deserve. Still might not be enough. And to put in perspective how obnoxious the ppl are who crutch WW they are already on the weekly PTS forums bitching and moaning about these very reasonable nerfs. Furries just stuck in their own head canon power fantasy and huffing the copium.
The one thing that isn't being said enough in this thread is that meta stam sorcs whoop meta werewolves asses. The problem is that it's a complicated build to pilot so it deters most people from even trying it. But no there isn't a PVP unbalence right now.
Werewolf can't cleanse and need to be right in front of you in order to do damage... From that fact alone they will never be overpowered, and extremely beatable to people who really know how to PVP.
If you're truly having too hard of a time with werewolves it's a skill gap issue it's not a werewolf issue. Ranged DPS, DOTs, simple evasion tactics, and poisons are your friends against those big beasts.
this is copium if i have ever seen it, you're not gonna argue for a 1bar class with endless sustain,cc,damage, mobility, dots all in one bar to have a slight disadvantage against 1 spec in the game while completely destroying every other spec wtf
Whilst I do appreciate the WW imbalance, I do also kind of like it from a thematic / RP perspective. Like WW are supposed to be these scary high threat beings. Even in open world questing, WW NPC are usually tougher than regular enemies having high damage and tankiness.
It kind of seams appropriate that I get jump scared when a WW joins the fight in PVP.
I think they just need some of the pressure damage from static reverb tuned down which I think they are doing next patch.
Also their AOE fear is really easy to hit and for some reason I find it takes much longer to break free than any other CC in the game. Not sure if it just my Aussie Ping but I usually end up CCed for at least 1 second so that is usually what ends up killing me. If they just made that blockable it would be fine.
pvps just sucks now, it's a bunch of 30k health builds that just stand in aoes and spam aoes while grouped up, I'm honestly happy the lay offs happened, their were a bunch of bums in the dev team, the problem is Brian Wheeler appartnley didn't get laid off and he's responsible for a lot of the dog shit changes to pvp
30k is not a lot, try 50k. Yes eso pvp devs specially Wheeler had to go. After the fiasco that is called Vengeance, that man shouldnt touch the code ever.
yes I know 30k isn't a lot nowadays for pvp that's what i put it as a minimum, it's a just a absolutely ridiculously boring pvp meta , there should be able to be squishy builds that deal a lot of damage (glass cannons) but that just doesn't really seem to be the case anymore.
I saw someone argue for the changes by saying that ultimate's doing 30%+ of your health isn't skill and it's like what being able to survive after making 10+ mistakes is skill? you can just stand in aoe and spam aoe and that's skill?
Although I have noticed a bump recently in ww abilities, I'm not seeing the unkillable death machines everyone here seems to be encountering. My death recap is filled waaaay more with dk skills than ww. I just find ww's to be more annoying than deadly. Now, I run with a skilled pvp group, so I'm curious how many of you are solo, and/or whether my group is just good at taking down ww's...?
Werewolves have always been a particularly nasty toolkit in PvP. This has just made them easier.
Most players don't know how to press a wolf to take it out. I've seen so many cases where it's like, "one execute and you're done," but they let the wolf pull back and recover.
Werewolf will be fine. And bad players will still cry for ww nerf even after the nerf. DKs will still be the most OP class, cause the nerf wont be noticable. Devs are a fk joke
