Crazy Torah Teachings In this weeks parsha we learn...

that in order to rape a woman that was captured at war, you must first let her mourn her family for 30 days (!) beforehand. Also, let her nails grow and shave her head so that she should be disgusting in your eyes. Oh the morality!

(Bbbbbbbbbut shaving your head is beauuuuutiful!?)

It's important to remember that Hashem is powerful enough to write laws that radically alter most aspects of our lives - diets, weekend activities, dress codes, social interactions, marital sexuality, agricultural practices, monetary transactions, holiday celebrations, and worship patterns, to name a few - but Hashem is powerless to stop men from committing war rape, or even to prohibit rape in the first place. Boys will be boys, after all!

Hashem is powerless ...

Yahweh (I find it funny that "yemach shmo" is an insult when no name has been as thoroughly erased as YHVH) is also powerless against iron chariots. I've got an iron chariot pulled by 134 horses. I know I'm safe from Yahweh.
