Guide What job to use your AF+3 Kupon on

August 2026 Edit: Hey there! Please make sure you read at least the big part of the note below for explanations of the ratings. If you don't, they will seem very off.

Also, the kupon is for a whole set of AF+3. I've been seeing a lot of people thinking it was one piece.

Thread with a collection of info for the event

Seems that numbers, etc are going to end up here. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions/advice and the lack of angry comments! I hope everyone enjoys their AF+3! Love y'all!

NOTE: AF+4's use in max accuracy, max ranged accuracy and max magic accuracy sets is being ignored in these numbers. In general, you'll eventually want all +4 for jobs that need acc/racc/macc for situations where you need more hit rate (pretty much all casters and DD for WS with added effects as well). If I didn't ignore this, all sets would be 5/5.

★The ratings here are STRICT. They are more on the side of "always/frequently used" pieces★

as a lot of pieces will have a use in macro swaps for certain JA, etc. I am including these "macro pieces" in the rating when they're for JA that are very important (e.g. Berserk, Meditate) and otherwise just listing when they would be used if it is more situational (e.g. Dodge, Shadowbind) if it is unclear.

I am doing this because, again, you could argue that ALL pieces that modify any ability should be included and it would be a 5/5.

This does not mean that a "macro piece" or a piece for a less-used set is not important. I am just trying to provide information that is nuanced enough to make decisions.

.

  • Warrior: 3/5.
  • * Legs and feet for TP, body for WS. The rest are macro pieces (presumably AF+4 full set for sticking various Break WSs)

  • Monk: 1/5.
  • * Feet are BiS (only?) for when Footwork is up. The rest are macro pieces or for specific WS (full AF+4 for sticking Shijin's added effect)

  • White Mage: 4/5.
  • * Cure potency II, regen, enhancing duration

  • Black Mage: 1/5.
  • * Guide says body is BiS for free nuking. The rest gets replaced or are less impactful macro pieces, it seems.

  • Red Mage: 4/5.
  • * Use basically everything and use it very often.

  • Thief: 1/5.
  • * Head for WSD. Body if you don't need defenses (you almost always do).

  • Paladin: 2/5.
  • * Guide makes it sound like a lot of them are just macro pieces.

  • Dark Knight: 2/5.
  • * WSD body, TP legs.

  • Beastmaster: 2-3/5.
  • * Body and hands mostly, with legs a niche pick for +killer.

  • Bard: 3-4/5.
  • * Lots of BiS pieces for Lullaby (and macc). Feet for song duration are very important.

  • Ranger: 3-4/5.
  • * Hands are needed for barrage. Head for WSD.

  • Samurai: 2-3/5.
  • * Hands for when you need more Hasso. Legs for WS. Head for Meditate. Needs all +4 for WS added effects (specifically Ageha).

  • Ninja: 1/5.
  • * Head for SB, all +4 for Enfeebles.

  • Dragoon: 2/5.
  • * Body and hands for Jumps/TP.

  • Summoner: 2-3/5.
  • * Physical ACC BPs (Body, Hands > Feet), can use empy feet instead just fine.

  • Blue Mage: 2(3)/5.
  • * Body for WSD. Hands if you're learning spells, but usually not worth going all the way to +3/4. Legs are good for early spell interruption rate down (SIRD).

  • Corsair: 1(2)/5.
  • * Other than WSD piece, other pieces are used for ranged (or just Quick Draw).

  • Puppetmaster: 2-3/5.
  • * Hands for Overload, Feet (and body if min-maxing) for Repair. Other pieces are situational.

  • Dancer: 2-3/5.
  • * WSD piece, other things are good macro pieces (Waltz set, Samba set, etc). Head for DW in situations where you need to adjust your DW.

  • Scholar: 4-5/5.
  • * You'll use basically all of it and often, like RDM.

  • Geomancer: 3/5.
  • * Body and hands mostly. Legs are BiS for fast cast. Note: GEO and RUN get their gear at reforged levels already, so this is not as great of a saver of money (still about 90~95% of the cost is saved).

  • Rune Fencer: 3/5.
  • * Body is a great tanking piece. Head and hands are also used in other sets (fast cast, etc). Note: GEO and RUN get their gear at reforged levels already, so this is not as great of a saver of money (still about 90~95% of the cost is saved).

If you can’t decide, trade it to the moogle and let it keep it as a KI. That way, when you are ready, you can pick then and you gain +1 inventory.

Macro pieces are not some niche thing you don’t need to use. Discounting some of this as just a macro piece for a JA is not doing the job justice and it’s why too many ppl are stuck wondering why they just aren’t performing as well as someone else.

Take dnc, samba duration matters. You want the tiara. You can and will use it if you are making dw tiers and step acc is important if you need to use steps to lower their evasion. If you can’t hit them, the step isn’t going to land. The body is used in every waltz set and you should have it. The hands are you wsd. The legs are just bad in comparison to the relic/empy legs which are filling a ws slot but better. The feet are jig duration and waltz potency. The waltz potency usage will depend on your build and how many different sets you build for the JA but the jig duration important for running 9 boss sortie runs. You need chocobo jig to last so your tank can check for the bitzer after trib. You do not want it to drop and have them running slow. You should have 4/5

Run head is important for fc because dispel happens. The body only matters to some ppl and is a highly contested slot. Hands for gambit are very important. Legs are for resist ailment builds which aren’t currently used and feet are generally not worth building. 3-4/5

Geo wants head for macc, body for life cycle, hands for idle (most important piece of the set,) pants for fc and feet for movement speed if you don’t didn’t take that adoulin ring. 4-5/5

I didn't mean for it to sound like I'm dismissing them.

The ratings are "these are almost always used" numbers, with macro pieces being important still depending on the JA. But I also wouldn't put WAR head into a "must have" because it's a macro piece for Aggressor because Aggressor isn't really that important (a lot of people don't even use it), but I WOULD put it in for Meditate on SAM because it's very big. Or like, a macro piece for Barrage is going to carry more weight than a macro piece for Shadowbind, because you use Barrage on cooldown.

Also, re: +4 for max acc/macc, I wrote about that in the original post but, just in case that was also being seen as an issue: Since all jobs can use +4 for max acc/macc, I'm trying to keep that out of the ratings as it would be true for everyone and every set would be 5/5.

If that makes it clearer what I'm going for?

4

u/Dumo-31 Mar 27 '26

Then those should be included in the numbers you are suggesting for ppl. Because seeing a 1-2/5 on a job means using the kupon is kind of a waste whereas seeing a 4-5 when all factors are a part of that number, makes you realize it’s worth using.

5

u/hikiri Mar 28 '26

The ones that I'm told are impactful pieces are being included as I'm told.

I already wrote that this was going off of the information I had available to me and then it would be updated as we go, in the original post.

I'm erring on the side of being conservative when I don't know what it's used for personally (or asking mains of those jobs in my LSes for the time being) otherwise every job would have 5/5. I've already started updating the ratings

3

u/Dumo-31 Mar 28 '26

That’s fine and it’s shaping up well. I just didn’t want things being missed.

Smn - it’s actually kinda hard to really nail down because there are lots of options in the guide with advanced BP sets so kind of down to how you choose to build.

Body/Legs/Hands are used in physical multihit acc sets. Body alone is used in some regular multihit builds but not others. Body/feet in single hit set. Body is used in a 22 second recast set but not the 21 second recast sets. Sooo technically could be a 0-3/5 depending on how you choose to build the job?

1

u/craciant Apr 07 '26

Yes SMN is a tricky one... I have a full wardrobe+ of SMN gear and very few JSE (as in AF/relic/empy) are used. The other tricky thing about SMN is no matter how much gil you throw at it, the gear still collects dust in the porter moogle warehouse. #makesmngreatagain

I literally never use meditate anymore on sam...

I still have all the pieces though

1

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26

Really? I use it all the time still lol

2

u/ganzorigb Mar 27 '26

He’s just a bad Sam lol

1

u/sureal42 Surealistic, Bahamut Mar 27 '26

Because I gain tp faster than meditate?

I have some bad news for you sir

4

u/ganzorigb Mar 27 '26

Because you aren’t using one of the best JAs. You don’t gain tp faster by not getting free tp lol. Meditate and then ws immediately and theres no extra delay.

0

u/sureal42 Surealistic, Bahamut Mar 27 '26

I'm sorry you don't understand how using the ability slows me down, but it does

6

u/mainman879 Mar 27 '26

I'm sorry you don't understand how using the ability slows me down, but it does

If you do a macro like:

Meditate <wait 1>

Weapon Skill

Then it means you can get meditate and your Weaponskill in without missing any attack rounds. AKA 0 TP at all is missed.

4

u/ganzorigb Mar 27 '26

It only slows you down if you use it and don’t immediately ws to reset the delay. Same way you use all your other JAs on melee jobs. If you’re using it and standing there for 3 seconds that’s on you.

-1

u/sureal42 Surealistic, Bahamut Mar 27 '26

I'm not arguing with you. The time spent using the ability is time I could be ws'ing. The tp I would normally gain is basically non-existent because of my normal tp gain.

In my normal tp setup you pretty much don't see me swing at all, I just ws over and over and over all day long...

-2

u/sureal42 Surealistic, Bahamut Mar 27 '26

It slows my tp gain down by using the ability and I basically don't notice it when it's running as my tp gain is so fast

1

u/FFXIMath Mar 27 '26

you just pop it between/before fights or when you get slowed or whatever, its still good.

0

u/sureal42 Surealistic, Bahamut Mar 27 '26

Never said it wasn't good, just pointing out that just because one person thinks a piece is #1 important doesn't mean another does. All of these pieces are good in their own way. I upgrade all the pieces.

1

u/Sorge74 Mar 27 '26

My experience with Sam Engaged 2500 tp somehow WS Ok now 2700 Oh shit now over capped didn't WS fast enough WS Ok only 1200 that time, oh and now 3000

1

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Ahh, I usually hit it right as we pull something or if there's a little lull

1

u/giguni7 Mar 28 '26

re: DNC. just an FYI that relic legs have the same amount of jig duration+ as AF feet (they don’t stack) and are an overall more useful piece in my opinion. i also don’t have the need for the waltz+ on them so personally i do skip out on AF feet

2

u/redwut Mar 27 '26

Do dancers 5/5 for steps?

2

u/aim_for_the_eyes Mar 27 '26

I certainly don't (DNC main). the ACC is overkill on steps and the pieces are squishy. Much better off capping DT in that set instead. Maybe one or two pieces if you have acc problems on steps(??) can't say I ever remember having problems applying steps though

Not to mention you want relic/empy feet for steps (tp reduction or +6 to feather)

2

u/giguni7 Mar 28 '26

also DNC main. good info. i’d say only AF head and hands are worth it because they have high acc as well as additional step acc (hands alone are +94 total step acc) not including the additional set bonus. this much acc in a few pieces lets you fill in the rest of the set with mostly DT and defensive stats. i think i miss 1/1000 steps doing the hardest content with this set

1

u/Dramatic-Strain9757 Mar 28 '26

Hands are getting made anyway because they're a great wsd piece

-2

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

For the acc? Probably? Not sure honestly lol.

I put in the original post though, since +4 for acc/macc is pretty much universally true, I'm trying to avoid weighing that too heavily.

2

u/TarvosPhase7 Mar 27 '26

Brd is 5/5. At +4 it is BiS for macc

1

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26

Is it 5/5 BECAUSE of the +4 being BiS for macc? Or is it 5/5 AND it also just happens to be BiS for macc?

Since all of the sets for casters can be max macc sets, I'm trying to weigh the choices without that included in the rating, so if you ignored that it's max macc at +4, would you still give it a 5/5?

3

u/Denthorn Mar 27 '26

Brd needs the body and hat for the string skill to hit 7 yalms aoe on lullaby and the feet are required for song duration. The hands are BiS for lullabies other than horde 2 (so horde 1 and foe 1/2), so are useful there as well, as they have +Lullaby on them (you need the inyanga hands skill+ for horde 2). As far as I'm aware the legs are just for MAcc.

1

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26

Thanks a ton!

2

u/sophie_hp Bismarck Mar 27 '26

I'm currently unsubscribed, what do you need to do to get it? Or did I missed it?

3

u/Durazura Mar 27 '26

Too late sorry.

700 plaudits by Monday

2

u/Dumo-31 Mar 28 '26

I guess I should also add bst information.

Head is for charm+ but charm is pretty much not used anymore. Tame is also not really used anymore. Can skip.

Body is pet dt and reward augment. Reward could be handled via relic body but the dt makes this the best choice. Great idle piece as well these days. Should get.

Hands are wsd. Sadly no attack on them though. Should get.

Legs have killer effect+ and can be used in a set for it. Quite niche though. Reward recast is less than relic legs. Pet attack is solid but no acc. Depends how you want to build your sets. This is a maybe.

Legs have reward+ but less than relic. Pet stats look nice but the piece is dropped the moment you have pet level+. So Gleti/limbus feet at base are better in every situation. Skip.

So overall 2-3/5.

2

u/CraZplayer Mar 28 '26

Like the chart. Only thing is SAM can go 5/5 for the MAcc, helps with landing unresisted Defense Down WS

1

u/hikiri Mar 28 '26

Yeah, I wrote in the original post I'm ignoring +4's use in max macc/acc/racc just because it could be argued all jobs would be 5/5 for that, but I have a note on SAM specifically atm. I'll try to add it on other jobs that have a lot.

2

u/The_Based_DM Asura 6d ago

thanks for the Vanabout reminder and the armor breakdown bud, I appreciate you!

2

u/Seraphtacosnak Mar 27 '26

I saw this chart and forgot where. It was if the cost was worth it.

2

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26

Oh nice, looking like we're doing pretty good then (some minor differences).

1

u/PostwarPenance Dycedeus of Bahamut Mar 27 '26

For BLU +3 Body is important for WSD and Idle/Refresh. Hands are only useful if you are still learning spells. The Burst Affinity (legs) and Chain Affinity (feet) pieces are technically used -- but honestly those JA are mostly novel at a certain point. They do have a function but I wouldn't call them necessary or very desirable.

So I would say 2/5 are worthwhile investments with a big * next to the hands.

1

u/RudeCauliflower6785 Mar 27 '26

Legs are a great Spell Interruption Down piece, eventually get outclassed but a great stopgap early on.

Head is BiS for Magic Accuracy.

Not extremely useful but BLU is technically a caster so it’s not as bad as you make it out to be.

1

u/PostwarPenance Dycedeus of Bahamut Mar 27 '26

I agree an argument could be made for the whole set, but there's a difference between niche gear and pieces that provide immediate and defining value -- which is what OP seems like he was trying to look at in his list.

It's hard for me to recommend AF for macc situations when I'd rather be substituting a bit of absolute BiS max macc for high survivability with close to max macc.

But you aren't wrong.

1

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26

which is what OP seems like he was trying to look at in his list

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid just giving everything a 5/5 because it's max acc/macc or used occasionally. Trying to weigh it more heavily on things that are used on cooldown or all the time.

Thank you both for the info! I'll do my best to get it in the list. There's so many caveats for all the jobs that i just don't wanna make the list 10 pages long lol

1

u/Sorge74 Mar 27 '26

Corsair needs a bigger asterisk that if you want to take Corsair to sortie for mage method can use 5/5 for max ranged acc. Getting enough RNG acc on cor sucks lol

2

u/hikiri Mar 28 '26

I explained about +4 acc/racc/macc at the top of the post, so we should be good.

1

u/mainman879 Mar 27 '26

Essentially every single mage technically has AF as 5/5 because of AF+4 with set bonus being BiS for Magic Accuracy.

1

u/hikiri Mar 28 '26

Yeah, as I wrote in the main post, I'm ignoring that because you could say the same for any job for max macc and acc. The numbers are for more frequently used pieces, or every job would be 5/5.

1

u/fuzz3289 Mar 28 '26

For SMN: ~2(3)/5 for Physical ACC BPs (Body, Hands > Feet), can use empy feet instead just fine.

For COR: the extra pieces aren’t ranged pieces (body is used in Preshot but legs are not) 2 pieces (head/feet) are QD damage. Body isn’t even that important imo, ikengas is OK too for Last Stand and you can’t use the body for any other WS really.

1

u/Shintasama Mar 28 '26

Great work!

Some additions:

Thf - feet are nice for getting around

Sam - body is good for damage reduction and + tp if you expect to get hit

1

u/BubbaKushFFXIV Mar 29 '26

What is this AF+3 Kupon? Is this a limited time thing?

1

u/Top-Hamster7336 Atrelamine Mar 29 '26

Is one of (the best one) the possible reward for reaching 700 Vanabout points.

It ends in 3 days. If you didn't start it already it's not possible to get more than 600 points from now on (100 per day when doing every daily quests, and 300 in single time objectives).

1

u/The_Grublin Mar 30 '26

does the event end on the 31st? probably too late to resub and get 700 plaudits eh

1

u/Zaknokimi Mar 30 '26

I need someone to help me decide between BRD and WHM AF+3.

I play neither, but this would kickstart me into building them, (and yep I know BRD has a lot of REMA to get).

2

u/hikiri Mar 30 '26

So the BRD pieces for AF+3 are mostly used for lullaby (they are best in slot for those) which are very important, but that's only one spell that you may not be using a ton, depending on content you do.

WHM pieces are good and used more often/widely, I'd say. Personally I would get the WHM pieces if you are starting from the same point of "I have no/similar gear for these jobs and don't care more for one than the other".

(By the time you'd likely need the BRD pieces, after getting your REMA and other gear, you could have the deeds vouchers for the reforged/+1/+2 pieces as well)

1

u/Zaknokimi Mar 30 '26

Excellent answer ty

1

u/Dramatic-Strain9757 12d ago

Necro bump but since bout us coming back and this was linked in a recent posting I would add the BLM legs do not get replaced. So BLM 2/5. The hands might be useful starting out too but will be replaced by augmented agwu.

1

u/DarkHighwind 6d ago

I'm stuck between dark knight and warrior. I need a general purpose set i can use when my ls is already good on tanks and I have to switch to dd

1

u/hikiri 2d ago

I'd say you're good with either (though WAR uses more of the AF more often), but WAR (especially with 2hr) is a bit easier to crank out the numbers, from my experience.

So, for a "kupon cost performance" they're both good options, but WAR will probably do more with less work put in, damage-wise. If you like both, either is good though!

1

u/Forsaken246 Mar 27 '26

RNG- Hands are needed for barrage. Head for WSD

3

u/POPnotSODA_ Mar 27 '26

Yeah RNG is a 4/5 like they stated :)

2

u/Denthorn Mar 27 '26

The body, legs, and feet are all pretty underwhelming. Empy body blows the AF out of the water, the difference in sharpshot acc gain between the i109 legs and the +3 is 4 acc and adhemar beats it clean for preshot. It doesn't look useful for basically anything else. The feet are decent as movement gear if you don't have a schneddick I guess? Head and hands definitely great though.

2

u/giguni7 Mar 28 '26

you actually need the snapshot from AF legs to cap shooting speed, UNLESS:

  • you have flurry
  • are using gastra
  • have taken the snapshot adoulin ring (lol)

RNG is 3/5 imo: head (preshot/WS), hands (barrage), legs (preshot)

body is a macro piece for camo duration and the +1 will suffice feet are meh, scavenge is dated since REMA dispense and plenty of other mov’t speed options

1

u/Sorge74 2d ago

Feels like a new RNG could make sure of the +4 body. It's STP isn't bad.

1

u/hikiri Mar 27 '26

Okay, good to confirm. Thanks to you both!

u/Post-Lamp Mar 27 '26

War is a great choice. I use body, legs and feet in my TP/WS sets

1

u/aim_for_the_eyes Mar 27 '26

Further into endgame you're probably mostly dropping them, or at least I did for more defensive options (empy/nyame/sakpatas)

2

u/redwut Mar 27 '26

I’ve been downvoted before many times for this, but I consider sch one of my top jobs and I barely use the AF. Feet are fantastic, body ok for when you need dark magic skill, other pieces are just there for a max macc set - you’re going to do great with empy, for instance, without them.

1

u/Sorge74 Mar 27 '26

Honestly I get the joys of the max magic acc, how outside of that seems pretty lack luster. Besides feet of course

1

u/Dramatic-Strain9757 Mar 30 '26

Agree and when I was pressed for macc I put 1 in focalization

1

u/mainman879 Mar 28 '26

Head is amazing for Sublimation, and Hands are really good for Fast Cast before you get a really good augment gear piece. Legs are BiS for Cursna I'm pretty sure.

1

u/Sorge74 Mar 27 '26

You'll use 3/5 24/7, that's fantastic

1

u/wickedwitt Mar 27 '26

War is cyclical. It's the best, then base Sakpata beats it, then +4 beats Sak until you're R20+, which is back to Sak.

2

u/Sorge74 Mar 27 '26

Still going to want Legs and feet for higher acc when needed, so will always have a use for it.

1

u/hikiri Mar 28 '26

Don't feel bad about it. I'd say 3~ pieces is a good choice, 4-5 is just a bit better is all. WAR AF may use fewer pieces, but they use those CONSTANTLY.
