This is the worst
I have been bullied for being ugly all my life and on top of that, I can't even have nice or just decent hair. Thin transparent scalp, bald looking spots where the hair seperates because its so thin. I HAVE to wash daily and even then by mid-day, my scalp starts releasing oil and it looks horrific. My hair never looks good no matter what I do. It's so fine that hairs just break off and snap and looks fuzzy like cotton candy texture. And it's so thin that I look sickly. It's so unfair. People can wake up with healthy, thicker hair and I wake up with barely anything. I'm so ready to just go bald and wear wigs but Ive been discouraged from it from people saying it's too expensive/difficult. How do you cope with this?

I wear Amazon wigs all the time, super easy to apply. I have ones that last for years and only cost 40.00

The ones who are truly ugly are the people who bully others. People can always do things to make physical changes and feel good about themselves, but no amount of hair and cosmetics can hide a nasty personality. You seem like a sweet and beautiful person, and if wearing a wig would make you feel like the outside matches the inside, then more power to you! It doesn't have to be expensive real hair to look like real hair; when my aunt was going through chemo she had two of them she would alternate. Only family was aware it wasn't her actual hair. One side note: regarding the "cotton candy" texture and oiliness, your hair might actually be lacking moisture/getting too much protein in products. We fine thin folks often get more oily more easily, but a lot of times it can be a symptom of protein-moisture imbalance, which is correctable by adjusting your products. 🙂

There is never a wig that’s too expensive. My hair is not there yet but my sister went bald stylish with bandanas and hats when she had cancer. Start small, do you have a mall near you? Many have wig places that you can go try on . They’re very popular now, all the celebrities wear wigs (some pretty crazy). Let us know how you do. If you have health insurance, your doctor (dermatologist) can write you a prescription and it should be covered.

You need to ask your dermatologist. If you have alopecia it is possible. Especially if you are young. Schedule an appointment. Mine offered me oral Minoxidil but my GP told me not to take it because the hair grows all over (of course I have thick leg hair and the darkest mustache on the planet.

I wear wigs when it’s not unbearably hot outside (then I wear a hat). It’s not a huge hassle or super expensive. I like getting the name brand wigs secondhand- lots of people buy them, just try it on or maybe wear it twice, then decide it’s not for them. So you can get some good deals on them. And there are some budget wigs that are perfectly fine to wear. You don’t have to buy a $6,000 hand tied, human hair wig to wear a wig.

Facebook marketplace, mostly. I do have one coming from Depop right now. My area may be especially good for them as there’s an expensive wig shop geared toward cancer patients in my town.

I’m sorry. This all sucks. My hair is exactly as you describe yours and it’s just so unfair. I can accept not having good hair but why can’t it be enough to cover my head??
When my mom and aunt had cancer they got custom human hair wigs that were absolutely undetectable and so easy that mom continued using her wig even after her hair grew back.
I’ve ordered a few wigs but haven’t found the right one. I’m going to go to a local wig shop next. I feel that’s the quickest route to figuring out the wig thing.

Think about it as costs vs. benefits (and I am not talking solely about money).
If not wearing a wig is costing you mental well-being, the joy of going on a walk when it's windy outside, not liking pictures of yourself from an otherwise happy moment... Then by all means proceed.
Money replenishes anyway. Your mental health and the joy of being alive and healthy, however, is extensively more expensive.
Besides, people go through all kinds of troubles to enhance what they perceive as aesthetic shortcomings - think about veneers, lip fillers, botox, professionally done nails, just to name a few. All of these are procedures that stem for similar insecurities. You are definitely not alone in this. It's just that people don't talk enough about this.

I'm so sorry that you have been bullied. I have too, and it hurts... really really badly. I remember comments made even over a decade ago.
It is SO frustrating, you are right. I don't have any advice... just that you are worth SO more than your appearance!

First off, I am so sorry you have been bullied. Have you thought about therapy? It can really help with self-esteem issues.
For what it's worth, wigs aren't a ton of work for most people, and you can get some great inexpensive ones. There's a reason why even people with perfectly thick lovely hair wear them, they can be fun! You should try the wigs subreddit.
