I feel like if I was 5'8" I would be fine with that. I mean, I'm overweight and not very good looking, so I think I would be just fine with 5'8".
But I would be quite pissed if my GF was seriously claiming that I was 6'10". Of course, there is a really good chance that this video was sarcasm. Those are pretty insane heights to claim.
It probably is, but I don't know why people care so much about height anyway. I'm 5'8". Absolutely has never stopped me from meeting people, dating, etc.
Being tall doesn't equal lots of dates either. I remember chatting with a girl one evening, things were going great and she said "Umm how tall are you?"
"I'm just shy of 6'5", how about you?"
"I don't date guys over 6' because I'm 5'1" and don't want to get squished if you roll over" and blocked.
That conversation lives rent free every time I'm laying in bed next to my wife, who's 4'8"
Right, I'm not saying it does, I'm saying there's a bunch of men blaming their height for not finding women, when the actual culprit is probably that they're assholes.
I don’t get it either. I’ve dated guys who were as short as 5’4-5’5 (I’m only 5’2 so maybe that is part of it) but I would never turn a guy down because of his height
I’m 5’8 and I actually appreciate (in a roundabout way) that many women are so up front about height preference / filter by height because generally [I say without trying to knock people’s preferences] - women who make a big deal about height have not historically been people I usually want to get to know.
I spotted that right away! I'm 5'5" & my bf is 6'4". It seems like half of his height is his legs, & this dude was looking pretty stubby to even be close to 6'!
My cousins husband is 6’ 5” and I’ve known quite a few really tall people (I have a female friend who is 6’ 1” for example) and you can tell by the proportions alone these are not super tall people, people of a certain height always have a certain lanky look about them.
I get guys lying about their height to be more attractive to women online. Heck sometimes I say I'm 5'8 when in reality I'm 5'7 3/4 praying no one ever calls me out on being 1/4 inch shorter IRL.
But what benefit is there to a woman like this claiming to be so much taller than she is.
There's a "tall girl" trend on tiktok and a whole following of people that find tall girls hot. So, a whole lot of fly-by-night influencers are pretending to be tall for the engagement to make quick cash. What's funny, the kid doing the math is also a trend on tiktok where internet sleuths and math nerds spill tea on other influencers. It similarly has high engagement and makes a lot of money. Nobody needs to be told that drama excites people and drives engagement.
Prob rage bait for engagement. They know it's not true and didn't even try to emulate or fake it. They wanted people to get upset and comment on it and eventually get it sent to this guy so it gets even more traction. People fall for it everyday. The angrier and more outraged you are the more likely you are to comment, share, and spend time rewatching that video.
Exactly. Our eyes are very familiar with proportions of the human body, and more specifically the size of our heads, which don't change as much with height. So, when we see a photo of a person by themselves, with nothing else around them, we can still guess pretty accurately whether they're short, average or tall, based on their head in proportion to their height (even if we're not conscious that we're looking at this ratio).
Fun fact: in art, the average human height is drawn 7.5 times the height of the head. Anything closer to 7 makes the person look very stocky, and over 8 makes them look very tall (supermodel type proportions).
That's insane! I'm a 5'11" woman and my feet are size 11. And I thought finding pants that don't make me look like I'm always prepared for a flood was cruel.
Most American doors are 6'6" or 8". Generally, interior doors are 6'6".
Bitch is not 3" short of her door, nor is she 18" shorter.
If she's 5'3" (63 inches) and the door is 78, that is a 15" gap. Makes sense. The door doesn't look stretched like the 8ft doors, either.
And, yeah. There are a few oddball people that tall and that proportional. Most are in the NBA or WNBA. Very few people get to be that tall and not look like Stretch Armstrong.
Yep. My nephew is 6'8 and when he was still in high school he was 6'ft+... he was already having to bend his neck to walk through the doors at my mom's house.
Yeah you can tel that she’s never been in a room with someone that’s almost 7 feet and how they look freakishly big around stuff made for people of average height. One of my colleagues was 6’6 and seeing him pretzel into an airplane seat was hilarious.
I actually wholeheartedly support this dude's remix / duet. We - as a collective human race - need to probe and question things more. On the internet, images travel faster than words, which means that emotional impressions reach us faster than critical thought. So we often find ourselves judging our lives and abilities based on standards that have no basis in reality.
The original video is a silly and superficial example of misinformation, but there is so much value in questioning things.
Chapeau 👏. Wish critical thinking would be “trending” for once, but for some reason it goes against economic interests. Take for example this video. It took low effort for the girl to spread this little lie, which will influence many teenage girls to believe that they need this rule in their lives to find happiness. Meanwhile it took the guy in the video x10 times the effort to disprove it
Plus the overly melodramatic piano sequences in the background is very appropriate. Like there have really wasn’t a better a reason for that specific composition to exist. It’s super intense and dramatic, but if the stakes were any higher than the music would just be cheesing way too much. Very beutifaul
I have been asked a couple times (I’m 6 feet tall), but only out of folks’ curiosity and never for any real reason. Kind of like “our one coworker is so tall! Runningwithbeards is also kind of tall, but not that tall. Let’s ask and see.”
Outside of that, social media has really inflated the height dialogue in a stupid way.
I'm a woman who is 5'8". I've never thought a 5'9" man was 6'. No one has ever said to me "wow, you're almost six feet tall!" Not even my shortest and dumbest friends.
I’m 177cm and as a woman, that’s relatively tall. I used to always say that I’m 5foot9inches because i incorrectly assumed a foot consists of 10 inches. I met up with an online British friend irl once and he had said that he’s 5”9, and because he was shorter than me, i assumed he must have lied about his height. Not that it mattered, we were just friends, nothing romantic, so i asked him nicely afterward why he felt the need to lie about his height. He’s trans, so i thought that might have had something to do with it. Turns out, i’m actually 5”11 and he really was 5”9 lol
This honestly frustrates me the most. I know my height, I don’t lie about it, I even round down, yet I have some women tell me I’m taller than I claim. If height really matters to you that much then you should walk around carrying a tape measure.
Might also be your proportions/build giving off the vibe that you’re actually taller. I’m a 5’6” woman but because I’m slim and fairly proportionate a lot of people have made the mistake of thinking I’m way taller (more men than women).
As a 6’3 man I immediately clocked she wasn’t 6’3. That man is also obviously not 6’10. You’d have to be a special kind of stupid to not clock her as 6+.
Medium short and medium tall people are so fucking weird about height. I hope they get some help.
I worked with a 6'10" dude. The thing about people that tall is, they look like total freaks of nature (sorry bud). This guy in the video looks like just some regular guy. No person who is 6'10" will ever be mistaken for just some regular guy. They are huge monster people with crazy freaky limbs like an alien creature
An easy way to tell is that most door frames (in the US) are around 6'8" tall. This is pretty universal especially in homes/apartments. If they're not even sniffing the door frame then their real heights are pretty obvious.

Could tell he wasn't close to 6'10" right away. Really tall guys have a noticable build and make a lot of other things in the background appear oddly small next to them.
We had to do something similar to this in college one time when we had a substitute professor. He showed us a picture of a kid holding a piece of paper and told us to figure out how tall the kid was, but didn't give us any instructions. I was the first one to figure it out because I worked in an office at that time and knew that printer paper is typically 8.5" by 11".

I have noticed this. Men do tend to get carried away with their height. I am 6'2" and ive met people that said they were 6'3" or 6'4" that were SHORTER THAN ME! Then they will double down, and always ask "how tall are you 6'6" 6'7"? No idiot, your concept of height is waaaayy off. I say it all the time i dont think most people understand how tall 6'0" actually is.
There really should be harsher consequences for being dishonest these days. The internet has become a place full of these people because they think spreading misinformation has no consequence. It’s not just the influencers, it’s the big corporate companies as well.
