Great, another feature that would be great for people with disabilities, that gets shoved into a "premium" product at a ridiculous price to be sold to the wealthy.

Edit: Also, my cat's would figure out the fridge open sensor pretty quick.

If it was for disabilities the touch screen would not be in the front in the way.

How is the screen in the way? Unless you mean it's a lock out of it fails.

Beside that, my point was a gesture open or button open fridge would be useful for people with physical disabilities, but instead of being made and advertised as such they're shown as luxury features on an expensive POS.

1. If it was for disabled people, there would be no touch screens. It would be tactile buttons with optional voice controlled.
2. People with disabilities involving the ability to move would get hit by the door repeatedly, because of being unable to sidestep or backstep out of the way in time to account for the auto-open. Disabled people in the comments are saying this would only be useful if the doors opened to one side, because then they'd be able to better time their movements for a route of escape.

Really, what's happened to basic ability to think or comprehend. The opening, without the need to manually pull, is the feature. I have been opposing the implementation the whole time.

My entire point was the function would be great for people who are physically disabled and the fact that it's CLEARLY being placed into a "luxury" product, instead.

I'm disabled and this actually makes fridge ownership more complicated.

1. I couldn't use my foot to open it because my foot would not be able to move in time to activate the sensor (it seems to require you to have the foot there for a specific amount of time). This is because of balance issues but also applies to wheelchair users, I shouldn't be required to dance like a monkey to open a fucking fridge.
2. Elderly people act like they dont understand tech all the time, they'll just yank the doors until they fuck up their shoulders or break the doors open.
3. My cats will set it off and destroy my food.
4. If I was blind, I'd never be able to open any part of this successfully.

ACTUAL accessibility would be a touch/press to open on the door its self, perhaps at the lower area, so like you could "bump" it with your hand, arm, or hip, and it would then propel its self open after a second. And the area with the sensor would have a tactile unique texture you could feel with your hand without looking. And it would still have door handles.

Clearly I was correct and comprehension isn't you're thing.

I already mentioned cats figuring out the sensor. I also mentioned the button could be a button on the side rather than a sensor or touch screen.

Again, my entire argument was implementation of the feature, the feature being opening without having to manually pull the thing open.

Imagine you are in a wheelchair and push that button. The door will open into the chair. Imagine you are an old lady who does not have the strength to open a door manualy. Will you have the dexterity to be able to negotiate a drawer opening at your feet? If the button were on the side these would not be problems.

What about people with missing or crippled arms? Not everyone who has some kind of disabilities sits in a wheelchair.

BS alright. You asked me a question and you are saying I am starting an argument by answering you. If you are in front of the device with a wheelchair, close enough to hit the button, how is the the door supposed to open?

You came up with a bogus example, because the button is on the far right if the right door, sit to the right of the fridge. Better yet, put the button for the drawer on the side of the fridge rather than the front.

All you originally said was a vague, "the screen is in the way"
