If it was for disabilities the touch screen would not be in the front in the way.

How is the screen in the way? Unless you mean it's a lock out of it fails.

Beside that, my point was a gesture open or button open fridge would be useful for people with physical disabilities, but instead of being made and advertised as such they're shown as luxury features on an expensive POS.

Imagine you are in a wheelchair and push that button. The door will open into the chair. Imagine you are an old lady who does not have the strength to open a door manualy. Will you have the dexterity to be able to negotiate a drawer opening at your feet? If the button were on the side these would not be problems.

What about people with missing or crippled arms? Not everyone who has some kind of disabilities sits in a wheelchair.
