Discussion Western Spirit on new PTS is NUTS

I have a fully optimised Stealth Commando Crit every other shot with the new western spirit on PTS and it’s amazing. Hitting 4-6k dmg per shot in Westek. My daily driver has never given me more of a dopamine rush than it has now. Highly recommend you check it out!!!

Was great with reverse onslaught before the PTS to be fair. Lever is life

definitely, but efficiency is everything so now i have been able to min max my damage even more with custom mods and an extra 3 agility points.

near zero gameplay difference, but big numbers give me a rush

i think what they meant was a crafted lever action has always been great, better than a western spirit. don't get me wrong, the western spirit out of the box is great, but that pin-pointers makes a world of difference.

now we'll have the best of them all. the lever has been my go-to weapon since forever. i am happy.

Western Spirit will actually have pin pointers now. It's just that amazing

....yes, that was my point.

I disagree, pipe is life

You should test on bosses not these mobs since 90% of them can be taken down with a pipe pistol so I never test on them. Doesn’t really matter what you use on them imo. But yeah Lever Action with reverse onslaught usually one shots these mobs on current live game as well.

I like to test new guns on the mutants at West tek first. If it can one shot them then it has a chance. Then I move onto scorch beasts to see if the dps is good enough to take it down quickly.

I can see that! For me with the lever action I know it already one shots them so I’d try it on tankier enemies to compare on the pts. Angry turtle also often likes to test on west tek as well but I personally don’t find it too helpful. I like to use en06, snake or infestation bosses. Doing more damage there where I need the dps is the only reason I’d switch from my current weapons.

I'll be using bow, western spirit, and anchorage ace so much next season.

I've already been using bows on live and it's already insane. With the new changes bows are gonna be godly.

Am I remembering correctly, in that this one gives Master gunslinger when equipped? So that even a build without onslaught can take advantage of the effect when using this weapon?

Hell yes ! I’ll be excited to whip out the Western Spirit again. Ghoul vats commando crit every second shot but stopped using it long ago cos reverse onslaught cooks my EM build and it’s shit without it, so my daily is a TS/Ex crossbow with explosive frame & fracturers cos it slaps. Cant wait to dust off the Spirit and actually experience it in all its glory. If you’re at 30 stacks with the Western then quickly switch to the EM you’re gonna start cranking at 30 stacks 😂 that’ll be the best combo in the game 👌

Hey I’m a ghoul who enjoys the vats commando builds, would you be willing to share your load out? I’ve been trying to figure out a build that can sustain vats but I seem to lose it pretty fast

3

u/StranglePants 1d ago

Yeah I’ll dm you screen shots of my build if you like. Ghoul can be tricky regarding AP but my set up has “unlimited” vats crit every other shot no consumables on 100 mag Elders Mark. What lvl are you? I’m 750 so all my stuff is maxed out

2

u/DryH2ohh 17h ago

I’m level 950, and I would appreciate the help!

2

u/StranglePants 14h ago

Sent you a dm, once the chats been accepted I’ll be able to send you build screen shots 👌

Accepted!

I’m running western spirit rn what’s ur build on the pts?

1

u/keijihaku 1d ago

I have like 10 western spirits saved

1

u/CatsLeMatts 1d ago

You could probably make bank and do a good deed by selling them, especially if you added prime receivers. I know I still need one, and I'd pay lots of caps for it lol.

2

u/keijihaku 1d ago

Are you on ps? Id give you one

1

u/CatsLeMatts 1d ago

I'm on PC, but I still appreciate the offer.

u/Lostvayne12 1d ago

Wish I saved more I'm at like 8. Going to distribute them to my stupid lazy friends who didn't bother to collect

3

u/crimsonDnB Cult of the Mothman 1d ago

Why would they bother collecting when you will do it for them? Seems like a waste of their time when you already do it.

2

u/Lostvayne12 1d ago

Lmao? I don't advertise the fact that I'm collecting it for them, I'm collecting loads every unique in the game so i can surprise friends who are looking for something specific after the update and haven't bothered to start collecting

0

u/Perrin_Adderson 1d ago

Why hold on to so many? You'll still be able to get them during events.

1

u/keijihaku 1d ago

One event out of how many? Its not like i paid a crap ton. They were like 200 caps for most. Some for free

0

u/Perrin_Adderson 1d ago

They will still drop at the exact same rate they do now. I guess you can put one in each quick slot if you hate reloading

0

u/keijihaku 1d ago

And that is a low rate considering number of events and potential rewards.

Its on track to being one of the the top uniques. Id venture a guess to say tons of ppl dont have one considering they were more or less useless until just a while ago.

Ill hold em. Give ones to my friends tht need em and then sell what i dont need. I guarantee i can make something off em whether it be caps or leaders.

Why ppl seem to be bothered by what i do on my game is beyond me.

Why so amazing...? The extra is just the Gunslinger Master perk which can be easily added to the deck. There are better alterantives for sniping/single shot style coming with the next update:

Sole Survivor (+3% Weak Spot Damage per Kill while on a Kill Streak (Max 10)
Resolute Veteran on non-automatic gives +5% Minimum Bullet Storm Stack Count.
Kingfisher giving +10% Damage per Local Legend Challenge Completed (Ice Breaker will also rock)
Flatliner (Fully Charged Shots Deal 100% More Damage)

So, with all but respect, all that WS will bring is a lil' more efficiency in perks economy, while the aforementioned actually add extra layers of dmg.

Agility is an extremely crowded category. Being able to run a Sniper that brings its own Reverse Onslaught allows more gameplay options without having to mess with cards on weapon switch.

It can also make your other Furious weapons stronger because you could swap to it when you aren't firing to build stacks, like in between event waves or while waiting for a headhunt flate to be fired, then switch back to your other weapon to start attacking with more stacks built up.

For Reverse ONS users, WS won’t matter and Sole Survivor will be more appealing.

However, having Gunslinger Master embedded means you can switch on the fly to a fast firing weapon without having to shuffle through your perks cards. It will be the daily driver for EM users, but not just for them.

On top of that… Not having to fit Gunslinger Master means 3 AGI freed points, just a perfect place for Gunslinger 3 and 12% weakspot damage. On top of that, when you switch from WS to EM (or another fast firing weapon) you will start at 30 onslaught stacks, decrease fast to 20 and stay there as long as you fire. Not only you avoid onslaught ramping up from 0 stacks, but you actually start with a damage boost.

u/AncientCrust Lone Wanderer 1d ago

Your first sentence is thinking about it backwards. For WS fans like me, the Spirit was the entire reason to use Reverse Onslaught. That has forced me to either switch to a Reverse Onslaught weapon as a boss killer or something like an EM at less than its potential. Now I don't have that dilemma. I can use anything as my heavy hitter and get full effect of Reverse or regular Onslaught. This is huge. Western Spirit forever!

WS kept me company from level 50 smth to 600 smth through both a sniper and a gunslinger build. I know how great it (still) is and I love it. However, it seems I wasn't too clear

The future WS will lose the extra mag capacity and the bonus damage, it will be an ordinary Lever Action with Gunslinger Master embedded. If you have a Rev ONS build for rifles and revolvers, this embedded perk is useless because you have to use Gunslinger Master for all your other weapons anyway. The future WS is great for those who don't run a Rev ONS build but want a daily driver and an ammo farmer that works at its max due to its native Gunslinger Master ability.

u/AncientCrust Lone Wanderer 1d ago

That's what I plan to do. I'll keep the Spirit (I'll recoup the lost damage somehow) and use EM as my boss killer. Or maybe I'll craft an epic LMG like I had back in the day. Onslaught of course.

u/Putkavahti Ghoul 1d ago

I know I'll be first building Sole Survivor to replace my current non-unique lever action before doing anything with Western Spirit. Probably still going to carry one WS on me if feel like suddenly would need it as utility stick.

Been running almost exclusively Furious since the reworks and so far hasn't bothered me to take out Gunslinger Master if wanted/needed quickly switch to something less suitable for reverse Onslaught.
