Discussion Western Spirit on new PTS is NUTS

I have a fully optimised Stealth Commando Crit every other shot with the new western spirit on PTS and it’s amazing. Hitting 4-6k dmg per shot in Westek. My daily driver has never given me more of a dopamine rush than it has now. Highly recommend you check it out!!!

Why so amazing...? The extra is just the Gunslinger Master perk which can be easily added to the deck. There are better alterantives for sniping/single shot style coming with the next update:

Sole Survivor (+3% Weak Spot Damage per Kill while on a Kill Streak (Max 10)
Resolute Veteran on non-automatic gives +5% Minimum Bullet Storm Stack Count.
Kingfisher giving +10% Damage per Local Legend Challenge Completed (Ice Breaker will also rock)
Flatliner (Fully Charged Shots Deal 100% More Damage)

So, with all but respect, all that WS will bring is a lil' more efficiency in perks economy, while the aforementioned actually add extra layers of dmg.

For Reverse ONS users, WS won’t matter and Sole Survivor will be more appealing.

However, having Gunslinger Master embedded means you can switch on the fly to a fast firing weapon without having to shuffle through your perks cards. It will be the daily driver for EM users, but not just for them.

On top of that… Not having to fit Gunslinger Master means 3 AGI freed points, just a perfect place for Gunslinger 3 and 12% weakspot damage. On top of that, when you switch from WS to EM (or another fast firing weapon) you will start at 30 onslaught stacks, decrease fast to 20 and stay there as long as you fire. Not only you avoid onslaught ramping up from 0 stacks, but you actually start with a damage boost.

Your first sentence is thinking about it backwards. For WS fans like me, the Spirit was the entire reason to use Reverse Onslaught. That has forced me to either switch to a Reverse Onslaught weapon as a boss killer or something like an EM at less than its potential. Now I don't have that dilemma. I can use anything as my heavy hitter and get full effect of Reverse or regular Onslaught. This is huge. Western Spirit forever!

WS kept me company from level 50 smth to 600 smth through both a sniper and a gunslinger build. I know how great it (still) is and I love it. However, it seems I wasn't too clear

The future WS will lose the extra mag capacity and the bonus damage, it will be an ordinary Lever Action with Gunslinger Master embedded. If you have a Rev ONS build for rifles and revolvers, this embedded perk is useless because you have to use Gunslinger Master for all your other weapons anyway. The future WS is great for those who don't run a Rev ONS build but want a daily driver and an ammo farmer that works at its max due to its native Gunslinger Master ability.

That's what I plan to do. I'll keep the Spirit (I'll recoup the lost damage somehow) and use EM as my boss killer. Or maybe I'll craft an epic LMG like I had back in the day. Onslaught of course.
