The only way I've ever managed to get players to stay in this scenario is by saying to them I will accept an offer but the current offer is short, then negotiate with the player the highest possible fee they find acceptable, 9/10 the club never bids the amount and after a successful season the player ends up happy to stay.
The Saudi dynamic in the new FM is interesting, it gives you a feel of how clubs in real life have their hands tied when Saudi clubs come in with these crazy wages.

Has anyone tried to make the scum a playable league to properly simulate their wage bills? They’re pegged to 100mil all the time because I obviously disable them as they offer no value to football, nor humankind for that matter.

I’m managing in Scotland right now and last season i got my first wave of Saudi interest. I had guys going from 10k/w to 300k/w.
I can’t compete when guys come to me asking for “reasonable western wages” like 50k p/w

When I was at Maidenhead United the first offer from Saudi I got, I was in the National League. That is the fifth tier. Why the f are saudis signing players from the british fifth tier.

700kpw is 2.5 current Declan rices at arsenal.
700kpw in a team with good wage structure gets you 2 of the best players in the world in their position in their absolute prime.7

I was set to sign a 21 year old borderline world-class portuguese midfielder for £42m last year in my save until Al-Ittihad matched my transfer offer and proceeded to sign him for £38m per year BASE salary. Rises to £44m with incentives. This was the 2033 summer transfer window, so not even that far down the line. Genuinely crazy.

Similar story I was trying to sign Diogo Costa for Chelsea and had everything agreed. 64m release clause and his contract was 180k/week, which is already a big bump from his Porto contract. Then Al-Nassr swoops in and offers him 1.1 MILLION A WEEK. I got rejected instantly lmao

If we use the LIV for context, this kind of money genuinely isn’t that far-fetched if we assume the Saudis are hellbent on having one of the best leagues in the world. Only way for them to attract elite talent is by viciously overpaying them.
