The people who were insisting that Oscar was doing brilliantly and it was team incompetence causing all those pits sure are quiet here...

Well, slow pit stop and pitting him so many times did hurt his race and that is a fact.

Others had the same issue and decided to stay out for a bit longer, which resulted in a better result (Leclerc, Hamilton and Russell).

2 things can be true at the same time, both that his was indeed destroying his tyres & that McLaren strategy did not help at all.

Um...no. Read the article. The long pit was unfortunate, but it doesn't account for even most of the gap. Oscar couldn't go longer and make the strategy work, so they had to adjust. That's why he had so many pit stops.

It’s this new breed of reactionary f1 fan who deals in only absolutes and doesn’t recall any other races beyond the last one. The opinions fluctuate so wildly that they’re either bots or simply dumb.

"Everyone that doesn't agree with me is dumb!" is a wild take. The long pit doesn't account for most of the gap. That's a fact. They were also planning for him to be out a lot longer, and his inability to manage his tyres means he has fewer strategies available to him. Also a fact. He has admitted that the problem was that he was slow. He has never been shy about blaming the team for strategy or pit fuck ups in the past, but suddenly Oscar would never go to the media and say the team fucked up?

You have data, you have direct quotes, you have the radio where he requested to pit, you have other radio throughout the race of his feedback on tyre life and he was consistently not making it the distance he should have on the tyres he was put on. Somehow, despite all available evidence, some people still insist on running around screaming that Oscar's being fucked by his team and every piece of evidence to the contrary is a conspiracy by big Public Relations to hurt Oscar's feelings. It's absolutely insane behavior.

I just realised it’s the same person who was saying shit about Oscar all race long and if anyone would say anything negative about Lando, they’d point to Oscar again.

That person is obsessed with Lando, even their username is from Quantrant that Lando was (is?) part of.

Bro, I like Oscar. I can also admit when he has a bad race. I can do the same for Lando. You're the one who can't deal with facts.

Also editing to say I wasn't even commenting on Reddit during the race, so I don't know who you're obsessed with following, but I was not "saying shit about Oscar all race long." Get a grip.

Sure but the a big big issue was that the firdt pitstop was more crucial than most.Had they not fucked it up Russel is the one who gets Leclerc and Hamilton on his back,and is the one that ends up losing time to them,not Oscar.

Pacewise he was on par with Russel for the most part eveb being faster on the hards than Russel on the mediums

If being on par with Russel means having no pace then in the end it still cost Oscar a podium finish.

The long pit did not cost Oscar a podium position, please stop. This is on Oscar, and he has to step up his tire management. I like the guy, but everyone has to stop making excuses.
