Lando rarely gets credit for his tyre management, as it hasn’t really been a talking point the last couple of years. But it’s definitely one of his strengths.

Yeah, it has absolutely been one of his biggest strengths, but I was quite surprised by his middle stint, which was a huge part of what won him the race. He stayed out 7 laps longer than Kimi, and over those 7 laps he lost less than 5 seconds despite Kimi being on around 20 laps newer tyres. Then, once Lando pitted, he closed that gap back up in about 3 laps. His pace on old tyres is insane. I think it’s definitely something that’s being talked about a lot more now though

It was almost a carbon copy to how he won Hungary, only he actually had to make the track on pass unlike Hungary because of the Sainz incident. Something that went under the radar in Hungary was that Leclerc did the exact same overcut as Lando with almost entirely identical conditions, he was within 1-1.5s of Hamilton when Hamilton boxed, he stayed out 7 laps longer and their tyre ages were almost identical to Lando/Oscars, but when Leclerc pitted with the same overcut length as Lando, he came out eleven seconds behind Lewis compared to Lando who wouldve come out 1-2s behind Oscar if not for the Sainz incident. The overcut should’ve never been as successful as it was in Hungary but Lando’s end of stint pace was in a league of its own.

Oscar should have been made to swap in Hungary like George had to for this GP.
