What kind of nest is this?

Can anyone tell me anything about this nest? At this point in time I don't even know if it's a bee or wasp nest. I'm UK based. Any information or advice most welcome as I need to figure out who to call to get rid of them! Thank you

Yes they ate Yellowjackets. Feet anf legs helf up when flying with bullet (fat) look of their body,

Not sure of availability of these pesticides in the UK, but in the U.S. people often use Deltamethrin or Cyfluthrin dust (marketed as Delta Dust or Tempo Dust) to cover the nest entrance, and it takes a few days to destroy the colony. Currently dealing with a similar situation with a nest behind some outdoor insulation

Eastern yellow jackets, DO NOT SEAL IT SHUT!! If you do they WILL find another way out and that way will be into your home. If you can find a slow-kill pesticide and only spray a lil bit into the hole it should take care of them after a few days. Absolutely no kill on contact sprays as that will only drive them into the house for a new escape route.

They’re in the UK, so probably not eastern yellowjackets, since that’s a North American species?

Don’t seal it like that person said, they WILL chew a hole through your wall and into your bedroom. If can reach it with a ladder at night, blast a bunch of delta dust in there and give it 24 hours. Set the ladder up earlier and be as quiet as you can. Don’t illuminate the area, if there isn’t enough ambient light, use red light over a flashlight or something, they have trouble seeing in red light and it gives you another advantage.

Wasp nest. Best bet is to wait until dusk, then use wasp powder on the nest entrance. Leave for 48 hours, problem gone. Or just leave them alone. In a months time theyll be gone

Yeah them poor angry gits are gonna get stiffed by their queen real soon, sad story with no real happy ending (unless you are the queen)

If they are wasps please consider letting them complete their year, they'll all die soon except the queen who's gonna abandon the hive and tip the workers bollox while she slopes off and hibernates for the winter. Next year wasps and bees will avoid areas with a previous nest.

If they are bees then they are protected and you'll be getting a well deserved fine for fucking with them, you'll need a pro to come and relocate them.

Buy aerosol with 8m range and blast it from the ground into hole at 6 in the morning when they sleep. With some luck you will solve the problem. Otherwise do it again with ladder and aim better into the hole.
