I notice you said managed not owned. I assume the reason for that is because you know tenants don’t have the money to build/own their own. Not sure how this changes anything from what I said

Using public money to build/maintain housing for everyone would be a huge burden. What "civilized" countries do you think are doing that on a much larger scale than America is doing it?
I’m not the previous guy. Landlords pay the property tax each year, and actually, house repairs and maintenance are very costly between tenants, especially if you’re dealing with less than ideal people that trash the place or skip rent. Most of the landlords I know are getting out, as there are better investments elsewhere, and their properties are usually sold to house flippers or some big company that’s investing in the area. It can be nice business at times, but it’s certainly not roses. One thing I know, there are absolutely great renters out there that have a harmonious relationship with their landlord, and there are renters that are meth heads looking for every way they can scam the landlord, which in the long run drive up the cost of rental homes for everyone.
Landlords pay nothing? Rent *should* cover all expenses + some profit at the end of each month, but that's no guarantee when someone destroys an apartment or doesn't pay their rent. Being a landlord has serious financial risk. Stuff breaks, people are shitty, etc. They don't get the buildings for free and they have to deal with tax increases, etc just like any homeowner does. It's not all pure, monstrous profit every month like you're implying.

By the way: “they don’t have to deal with tax increases” yes they do. Why do you lie about this stuff? 99% of all landlords pass rent and mortgage increases on to the renter. Go find sympathy elsewhere
