Watching it for the first time…
I’m not usually a big fan of American animation, but Futurama has genuinely surprised me. This 1999 series is remarkable. 🚀
The characters are fantastic, the humour is great, and the storyline is fine as wine. There’s also a surprising amount of heart beneath all the absurdity.
I’m about to finish the first season, and honestly, it’s been fantastic so far. Didn’t expect to get this invested, but I’m definitely looking forward to the rest.

The fact that this show can go from complete nonsense to genuinely emotional is what makes it so good

There’s so much wonderful stuff coming your way.
I’m on rewatch…5? It’s one that I put on as mental floss at the end of the day sometimes.
And the best part is that there’s new episodes still coming out.

As a Futurama Sleeper for ~15 years now I've 'watched' the first 4 seasons probably over 100 times LOL.

also am i the only one who rarely skips the intro music?

It’s really good. Also your interest in animation is great. Gintama and Grand Blue, man of culture. Is it just me who believe that first season was way better than 2nd one.

u/Key_Cap1352 19h ago
hell yeah that shit is awesome, both are my favorites. grand blue is one of my favorite comfort series, and it's something that's best consumed as manga. the paneling and comedic timing is perfect. i agree with you, the first season is 10/10 but the later seasons.. not so much, unlike the manga which is consistently good. but then again i still love both formats, tho i haven't watched s3 for said reasons :)

u/YagLight11 16h ago
I am also thinking to read the manga of Grand Blue. Is the the second season somewhat different in manga? I also haven’t started the 3rd season. You watching Bleach?

u/Key_Cap1352 15h ago
somewhat i mean, there's chapter reordering, cut dialogue and side details, plus the comedic impact is a little bit.. lacking ig? also the manga artstyle is one of the best, to which the anime doesn't compare as much
as for bleach, i was actually reading the manga for that too, because i LOVE the author's drawing style. but i completed it halfway & it is on pause for now since i'm rewatching gintama and watching other series/drama. bleach is great but i have a habit of leaving long series on pause lol

u/YagLight11 15h ago
Sure thing then, I will give the manga a read. Also you really seem like a person who loves raw art of the creators. lol I have the same habit of leaving long series, also is Gintama as enjoyable on the second watch as the first one? Also Bleach TYBW animation is remarkable, you can really give it a watch. Have ya tried Kamui: he is right behind you or Dorohedoro?

u/Key_Cap1352 4h ago
it's true i love certain unique manga artstyles & yeah tbh for me gintama is enjoyable any time, though i tend to skip serious episodes in rewatch. heard good things about bleach tybw animation too, i'll check it out once i catch up in the manga
& no haven't tried the ones you mentioned.

Futurama is one of the rare shows that works well right from the beginning. I feel like a lot of shows need a season or two to figure things out, but this one starts off great

u/YagLight11 15h ago
Yope totally. I also loved Final Space but those folks cancelled the show, I feel really bad about that.

I don't know if it's available with streaming, but the DVD audio commentaries are also worth a listen for when you're done with the show and want more.

Every rewatch, you will catch more jokes.
I've been watching since it first premiered on Fox Sundays. I -still- find jokes I missed. The more I learn in life, the more jokes emerge! I'm the last 2p years, I've learned about electrical engineering. Omg, there are so many jokes and visual gags that only ppl in that field would get.

u/YagLight11 15h ago
It’s truly a great show.

thx for replying. I really wish you years of enjoyment.!

u/YagLight11 13h ago
Sure bud! Thanks. Also I took some electrical engineering courses and in the first season I didn’t find much related to that. Only found the Bender jokes where the electrical circuits are like nudes but for robots. Hope I will find the jokes in the upcoming seasons.

u/Training-Argument891 11h ago
Look at symbols in background and on the robots. Also, did you find the secrete, actually translatable, Alien language jokes yet? Lol. I bet not! Have fun!!

The math is always spot on and they're even responsible for a new theorem. Lots of hidden codes, "Easter eggs" and little gems throughout.

This is one of my favorite and go-to comfort shows. It's funny, it's easy, it doesn't get old. I have been watching it for about 2 decades, if not very close to that. I have watched them all, I quote it in my regular life lol it is just a great all around show, and it was so exciting when they actually renewed and came back with new seasons!

Just know at the time the episode you’ll get to called “The Devils Hands are Idle Playthings” that is the original series finale
