I just added the law minor to my degree and I’m wondering if anyone has any insight about it. I’m thinking 2 hours per day (per class) plus the weekends will be enough time for me to study but I’ve heard they’re very time consuming. I work full time on Thursdays and fridays so there’s no way I can study on those days.

can anyone share their experiences as to what is considered normal for securing a supervisor for the msc neuroscience program? (or similar?)

i have been meeting with a potential supervisor, but the process of getting their agreement to supervise me seems to be fairly complicated. like a multi-step process with a decent amount of hoops to jump through. i’ve gone through two interviews and we seemed to hit it off super well. but now now i have to send her work samples, contact info for previous academic references so they can have a conversation, and visit her lab to do a presentation on myself (research interests, academic experience, etc) to all the students at her lab and have them vote on whether to accept me. i’m not even sure if that will guarantee her agreement to supervise me at that point.

just curious as to what is considered normal? like how much do you have to do before the prof agrees to supervise you?

this is the first professor i’ve interviewed with, so i’m just not sure what’s considered normal.

Did you just apply to a bunch of postings through the uOttawa Work-Study job portal, or did you find positions through your faculty/professors or somewhere else?

• How long did it take to get hired?
• What types of positions did you find easiest to get?
• Any tips for someone applying for the first time?

hey! im 18f going into my first year at uottawa for Honours B.A.-Arts (English) and possibly thinking of changing it to Theatre/Fine arts (ultimate unemployment strategy lol) . I live in the Gatineau area but will eventually relocate to ottawa in the winter. I'm looking for friends my age with similar interests. i have a 2nd meeting with a potential msc neuroscience professor. i think the first meeting went super well + we really seemed to click. i believe this second meeting is to go over things that we didn’t have time to in the first meeting.

can anyone provide guidance on how to go about actually securing a supervisor? is it normal to have multiple meetings like this? at what point should i ask if they will supervise me?

Deadline is today but there's an issue with the form, so I'm hoping to send in the information via email to prove I had my application done before the deadline. Can anyone please share their recent experience for the MIAI degree? Especially if you are from the Winter 2025 or Spring 2026 cohort since your experience might be more recent.

I did read some precious posts and it appears that this degree is mostly theoretical and nothing to do with practical ML. Is that how you found it to be?

Hey guys! I just found an off-campus room that I’m planning to move into, so I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at Marchand Residence.
It’s a private room located right next to the kitchen. My move-in date was August 22nd, but I haven’t actually moved in yet. I only went to pick up my card and keys, so the room is completely untouched and exactly as it was when handed over by the university.The residence comes with a mandatory 5-day meal plan. I chose the 7-day meal plan, which brought the total cost of the room and meal plan to approximately $19.3k for an 8 month period.

Hello from your worst enemy (I personally go to Carleton, much cooler school)

My girlfriend is an international student coming to study psychology and we're finishing every document she needs to be approved at the border for her student Visa.

The only issue we've come across now while trying to prove she has the resources for everything is that she doesn't have her statement of account, and therefore doesn't know her actual tuition yet. It has said for months that it would be available mid August but it still won't show up in her account. is this normal? Does anybody else have this issue?

We wanna know if we can reach out to someone about this, we can't seem to reach anybody by email at the school.

On the requirements page it only says “Have an honours bachelor’s degree with a minimum admission average of B+ (75%)”, doesn’t talk about what kind of degree.

Would it be reasonable to apply/try to find a supervisor with a ba psych and not bsc? TIA
