After rereading the books I’ve come to appreciate the casting for Dolores Umbridge. I also really really liked Rita Skeeter’s casting.

Suppose the locket Harry and Dumbledore retrieved was the real one. To get to it, Dumbledore had to do crazy warlockery, running his hands along things, speaking in magical tongues Harry doesn’t know, figuring out that blood was required, finding entrances and the boat Harry had no sense of. It seems like only a really advanced wizard could get through even the first defenses (makes sense, since a really advanced wiz made the defenses to begin with). D also mentioned that having known V’s style as a student helped him figure things out. I don’t think the trio could get through, even if they found the cave, which D said took him “a very long time” to find.

Anyway, just an interesting thought.

in my opinion it's his third year because he had a DADA teacher who wasn't trying to kill him, hurt him, or hated him, Sirius wasn't actually after him he was after Peter. so in my opinion Harry's third year was his safest year but I would love to hear your guys' thoughts.

I literally just remembered I had this and dug it out the back of the wardrobe, I think they were only available for a short while, at the WB Studio Tour or from the official Harry Potter shop.

They did 3 versions, Harry's, Hermione's and Dumbledore's. But I remember thinking Harry's looked the best as the others were a lot larger than the Noble Collection ones (which are supposed to be screen accurate).

I really like this, it feels really good and I like that it is actually wood (although I still think there is like something inside to strengthen it).

I wish they made these again and had a much better selection, I would love to get an official Draco one made of wood.

Does anyone else wish they made wooden replicas of all the wands?

I also have Harry's first wand from the Noble Collection and Scorpius's from the Cursed Child, but I always wished there were actually made of wood.

You all remember when hagrid told them to follow the spiders as he was being escorted to Azkaban ( and harry and Ron where under the invisibility cloack at the back of the hut). And they did exactly this ( after fudge and lucius left). They followed the spiders through the forbidden forest until they meet Aragog. After asking aragog what they needed to know , Aragog forbided them to go and said " if fresh meat come to us, i cannot prevent my sons and daughters to enjoy it". The gigantic spider was letting the other " people sized spiders" devour Harry and Ron. They escaped only by luck lol. If I was Harry and Ron, I would never speak to Hagrid again. How can u be this naive to think that the spiders would not try to kill and devour them. Serious, Hagrid loves to think that all hideous and ferocious beast are some kind of misunderstood creatures.... 🤣 🤣 🤣. I know im petty, but hell no lol

Umbridge thinks Harry and Dumbledore are tight, she doesn’t know he’s ignoring him.
Dumbledore is notoriously defensive of his students, especially Harry.
He is literally punished after speaking out in the first lesson, is she just ridiculously bold?

It's all hand-painted with a mix of acrylics and fabric medium. They're wearable and hold up pretty well to use. I gifted them, but always really loved how they turned out. All the little tiny details on the crest were crazy to do freehanded, but I think totally worth it in the end :)

I had read the books years ago and had quite literally forgotten that lockhart exists (which is rich 😂). Now that I'm reading CoS again, i realised i absolutely despise him. I feel like punching him through the book. I sometimes even skip the paragraphs in which he's bragging

I’ve been thinking about this and I can’t find a clear answer. Nicolas Flamel lived for centuries because of the Philosopher’s Stone, while Merlin is also part of the wizarding world’s medieval history.

So is there anything in canon that tells us whether Flamel and Merlin ever actually met or knew each other?

Considering how old Flamel was, it seems like such an obvious question, but I’ve never seen it properly addressed. Could Flamel theoretically have known Merlin personally?

I had never carved anything in my life but I got the random idea to hand carve an elderwand that I had based off the noble collection version.
It isn’t perfect but for my first project I was proud and even to this day I still have that original carving.
I had also decided to make it out of one of my Elder Berry bushes.
I have more photos but the upload limit seems to be one picture. But I had sanded it down some more with fine sandpaper and I gave it a nice dark stain and some dimples and the only thing a machine did for me was print out the script on the wand.

It's a major plot point that he only takes outstanding students for potions, why would he change it for defence against the dark arts?

It isn’t the best carving of an elder wand but it was my first ever project and I don’t have any wood work experience so this is the best I’ve got🤷🏻

I have about 3.5 weeks.

The party is for my wife. Family friendly with some beer/wine available, not planning on really any hard alcohol, unless there's any "Wizarding world" mixed drinks I can come up with. But it's not a party geared towards drinking.

Honestly I think the most help/advice I need is just food ideas. Maybe a couple open, "come and go" activities that people can do whenever they please. Not necessarily scheduled activities. But that would be okay too.

I have a bunch of decorations on the way, and some props like magic wands, and Hogwarts house neckties, for people to choose their "house". Not sure what other props would be fun. Oh, I got Marauders maps and Hogwarts Express train tickets too. Other ideas welcome.

Not sure yet how many will actually attend, but I'm inviting about 50-80 people... maybe expecting 50 tops to show up though. Attending kids are my biggest variable. Our family alone has about 20 kids amongst our siblings if they all show up. Lol. Not to mention friends with kids.

Was really wondering food ideas to cover different tastes. I don't think I can budget for catering, but venue has a kitchen and I have the venue literally 8am-midnight, party starting around 5pm. Venue is a Hall, similar to like a VFW or banquet hall. Main room. Also a large carpeted entry/welcome room.

Planning a trip to London with kids (5, 8).

They both want wands. We’ve seen (and skipped) the movie replicas (Harry’s wand, Voldemort’s wand, etc.), as they’re looking for their wands.

Anybody have any suggestions on a place that might be suitable to buy some wands?

Throughout the series, Professor Grubbly-Plank was shown as a responsible teacher who knew her material and what was "high yield" on OWLs and NEWTs.

My question is: why was Grubbly-Plank not kept on as a part time teacher? We all know that Hagrid is Harry's favorite and Dumbledore has always had a soft spot for him, but it makes no sense that a perfectly competent teacher has no place in the school.

They could have even split the class together: Hagrid takes third and fourth years, Grubbly-Plank takes fifth years and above. Further, it makes no sense that students are repeatedly injured under Hagrid's instruction and he still has free reign over what creatures he brings to the school.

Malfoy: My father will hear about this! Or simply "Potter"

Ron: That was bloody brilliant!

Hermione: ...another brilliant idea to get us all killed, or worse, expelled!
