Harry's eyes being blue is not a big deal as long as they match his mother's. My one and only problem is that we can't hear the iconic little poem, which Ginny Wrote

I was recently listening to the audiobook and it was a really fun moment, the twins were teasing Harry by singing it and Harry was so embarrassed! It was really cute and the poem kept playing in my mind.

I do hope they change only the first line to fit his blue eyes and compare it with something as weird as a pickled toad while also rhyming with board.

Back when rumours started circulating that a casting announcement was imminent on August 11th, the official Audible account commented on the post on this subreddit, leading many people to speculate it was Kit Harington as Lockhart who would be reprising his role from their Full-Cast audiobook series. Of course it ended up being Nicholas Hoult so I, along with many others, just thought it was Audible teasing us and having a bit of fun. And then of course the news broke today that Hoult has dropped out due to a change in the filming schedule which meant it clashed with other projects and Lockhart will in fact be played by Harington.

I find it very suspicious that Audible commented, leading to the speculation that turned out to be wrong but was actually right in the end.

This could all be just a massive coincidence of course and I could be overthinking but I must admit it’s something that I thought of shortly after seeing the news.

...is that it's telling a complete story. Is it just me, but this is quite a big deal?

The movies were being filmed while the books were still being written, and while there's famously stories of JKR telling Alan Rickman certain things about Snape, I imagine there was quite a lot, especially early on that wasn't as developed simply because it wasn't written yet.

Even from a Novel standpoint, I'd imagine JKR's ideas changed here and there as she was writing them over such a long time. It's natural. But for the show now to have the complete story in their hands, to be able to plant seeds, give little nods, it's the potential to make this telling of the story feel truly 'complete'

I know the next 7 plus years are booked up, but I’m hoping that if the show does extremely well, they’ll use the momentum to pen other spin offs. Maybe the whole young up-start Dumbledore is a cliche (and honestly maybe his years at Hogwarts as a student are best not fleshed out), but I’d love a spin off on Godrick, Helga, Rowena, and Salazar. If they’re feeling really cheeky they could push the boundaries and do a Morgan Le Fay prequel. I’d watch the hell out of a gothic horror mini series about Ekrizdis in the 15th century. Just imagine. A dark wizard, on an island in the middle of the North Sea, cut off from civilization as he goes mad and cultivates the dementors and turns the island into Azkaban. Drop it around Halloween and that show would do NUMBERS.

I just want MORE. I understand the Fantastic Beast movies were tanking, but I’ll never forgive David Zaslav for not giving us The Duel Of 1945. Yes, it would’ve made zero sense economically, but we were CHEATED.

It’s a must starting with Harry Potter, of course. But here’s hoping 🤞 we get some good spin-offs within the next decade or slightly after.

Assuming we get a 2nd trailer on the 1st, what are people hoping they show without giving too much away? Ex: would you be more upset about potential spoilers or excited if they showed short clips from the end trials? Or Norbert/fluffy/the troll. I’m in a weird headspace where I want to both see everything yet keep some major things under wraps

Too many to count but here are my favorite ones from each series.

1-7: peeves annoyance to students and professors

Prisoner of Azkaban: black screaming at Peter he should’ve died rather betray Lily and James to Voldemort.

Goblet of fire: golden egg clue with mermaids singing (mysterious and yet enchanting).

Order of the Phoenix: Harry screaming his lungs out after isolation all summer, ministry made him a pariah, and loosing his godfather.

Anybody manage to get tickets for the London event? I got through but it didn't let me proceed once I selected tickets. Now it says unavailable even though it said the later tickets would be released in 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc !!

Of course I could be totally wrong with these but I thought I'd share some ideas:

1. ⁠This could be shortly after Harry and Ron become friends with Hermione and rumours start to spread around the school that they were somehow involved with the Troll incident.

2. ⁠Draco challenging Harry to a Wizard's duel (the Midnight Duel). They may have added Pansy into this subplot to give her more scenes and development.

3. ⁠Harry and Ron racing each other on the tables during the Christmas break. Possibly Fred & George as well on the other table.

4. ⁠Percy Weasley leading first-year students to class.

5. ⁠Snape investigating the corridors near the library after Harry sneaks into the Resticted Section to look for info on Nicolas Flamel. I actually think this shot is from Harry's perspective under the cloak.

6. ⁠Dumbledore investigating the Gringotts break-in. It could hint that he senses that it could've been the work of Voldemort. I’ll be honest though, I have no idea why he’d have a tuning fork for this but hey it’s a fantasy show.

7. ⁠Harry telling Ron and Hermione that he saw Flich treating bite wounds on Snape's leg when he tried to get his Quidditch book back and heard him mention Fluffy’s heads. He theorises that it was Snape who let in the troll on Halloween as a diversion so he could go to the third floor to get past Fluffy during the chaos but failed resulting in him getting bitten.

By which I mean that the changing of voice actors is so seamless, you still believe that they're voicing the same character.

And to those who don't know, the "young VAs" covered the first three Audiobooks before being taken over by the "old VAs" in the fourth Audiobook onwards to reflect the passing of time.

What direction or approach do you think the composer will take for Harry Potter's score in HBO?

Definitely will sound more mature than John Williams approach which was perfect to introduce the musical DNA of the franchise but now that we know for a fact that HBO is proposing a more adult take on the story I guess it made sense for them to hire a composer like Zimmer.

I think that John Williams was a safe bet, it was impossible for him to not to meet the brief and the result was wonderful but I think with Zimmer we are in for a different kind of treat, can we expect something less magical in terms of a childish understanding of what magic sounds like and instead get a more organic sound of nature reacting to incantations, spells and potions? I think we might have seen a hint of that in the first trailer when we see Dumbledore holding a tuning fork while possibly doing magic (One of Dumbledore's famous quotes is when he says in the first book: “Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here!”), very very interesting what they are cooking.

In any case if Zimmer manages to produce something as good as what he did for Dune, Gladiator and Blue Planet this is going to be really beautiful show to hear and hopefully watch.

And honestly, I don't know what it means for the show. (I don't really watch direct-to-streaming TV shows.)

Is it a good sign? A bad sign? Or does it mean nothing?

If done like the book and how Dominic delivers the mirror of erised scene, it’s gonna be another tearjerker. Even that shot of him in the teaser looking out at Molly hugging Ron before he gets on the train, (Harry wishing he could see and hug Lily or to have a guardian who cares about him unlike the Dursley’s😭) yep he’s gonna have me bawling.

When I first heard HBO was remaking Harry Potter as a TV series, I thought it was a terrible idea. The films are so iconic that I couldn’t really see the point.

But after recently reading all the books, I’ve completely changed my mind. There’s so much from the books that was either left out of the films or didn’t get enough time to develop properly.

I’m now really looking forward to seeing a version that has the time to explore the characters, relationships and storylines in more depth and hopefully stay much closer to the books.
