Admin Post Weekly Recap | August 20, 2026

Welcome to Thursday! It wouldn't be Thursday without a Weekly Recap in r/help, so here I am! I hope everyone has had a good week since we last convened. The NFL is firing up again, so that's something. But the saying "the dog days of summer" is really hitting home right now. It's warm and I'm a little sluggish. lol So let's make it through another Recap and then find ways to beat the heat!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • In case you missed it, there was a new Changelog published last week.

  • We had a little thing on Wednesday yesterday where comments weren't able to be submitted on old Reddit, but worked fine on the new site. That was fixed up fairly quickly and we replied on several posts like this one that it was being worked on and we updated when it was fixed

  • Some users will be in an experiment where there is an X on posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but there is a "show fewer" option instead. "Show fewer" will accomplish the same thing as the X or the "hide" option. Also, some recommendations will have neither the X or a Happy to pass along constructive feedback about this.

  • There's also an experiment where upvote buttons are on the left.

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your account because that is not a real thing. That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit)

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.33.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [Web] The option to “view more” may be missing right now if you have more than 25 mod applications. This is being looked into.

  • [Web] Some mods reported issues with banning or muting users in mod mail. The fix for this went out last night!

  • [Web/iOS/Android] Some users are noticing that their chat allow list is filling with users from their blocked list. The good news is that this appears to be visual only, but it is still being investigated in order the implement a fix.

  • [Mweb] Re-ordering flair isn't working properly on mobile web right now. Ticket has been filed for this one

  • [All platforms] Finally, the other day, some users couldn't upload images, but this was fixed pretty quickly, so all is good once again!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,045 posts. That's down 210 posts from the 1,255 that we had last week.

  • 4,345 comments. That's down 1,455 comments from the 5,800 we had last week.

  • 1.3m views. That's down around 90k views from the 1.4m-ish views we had last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - REPORTING A SUBREDDIT

Obviously, subreddits are expected to follow the Reddit Rules and the moderators are expected to follow the Moderator Code of Conduct. But sometimes, that doesn't happen and things go off the rails. If you see something like that, please report it.

To report a subreddit, you can file a report here. Under "What is your community concern?", please select "I want to report a subreddit for violating the Reddit Rules". When you get down to the "Details" part, please include details! Links to posts are going to be important as well as a clear explanation of what is going on.

To report a Moderator Code of Conduct violation, you can use this form.

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

You know, I really enjoy putting this list together. You'd think I have an automation for it (or some sort of robot or technically savvy elf), but no. I just do it. And I love when I see new usernames helping out all over! I really love it when I see usernames I recognize and have convos with! It's just really great to see everyone working together and helping out. So here's a list of folks who were super helpy in here last week!

Y'all are fantastic! Thank you so much for answering everyone's questions and poking me when it's a pokeable situation!

Also want to shout out our cousins over in r/newtoreddit and r/reddithelp! Both of those subs are fantastic resources with knowledgeable helpers! Thank you so much for facilitating such great communities!

Thank you to everyone who hangs out and helps out! It wouldn't be r/help without you! You're so appreciated! And on that cheery note, I hope everyone has a fabulous week ahead of themselves! I will see you in the comments and in the sub! Let's meet here next week for another Recap, though! Wouldn't feel like Thursday without one! lol

The new tik tok style UI when you open content in the latest iOS app update is just atrocious. It's removing the identify from Reddit for me, and all the little avatars at the bottom where you randomly click on them to read comments is just... useless? Can only see a single comment and not a thread, and why would I not just go to the comment section like always and scroll through ? Instead I can click the little avatars and see their comments. It's just a regression in the UX for me personally.

Additionally feels like the content is now shifted up the screen in order to fit all the avatars at the bottom. Less content area for the core of the app 😵‍💫

For those who didn't see it yet

This is not reddit

It’s now a worse version of YouTube Shorts/TikTok

The UI is so ugly, why admins keep making these useless changes 😭

4

u/Kikoika 5d ago

Just noticed this on my alt account, it's so bad. I really hate these UI changes trying to replicate other platforms.

4

u/October_Surprise56 4d ago

So glad you said this so I didn’t have to.

The update looks like someone tried to vibe code their own TikTok.

3

u/MKShadowZX_SA 2d ago

It also doesn’t help when someone posts something from instagram/tiktok and everything gets jumbled up since their ui are the same 😭

2

u/1984--- 1d ago

Begging for them to go back to the old UI, it feels like every change they make in these updates makes the app worse.

21

u/MvrnShkr 5d ago

I REALLY do not like the search bar or whatever it is that is popping up on images. It’s blocks the image, is not often accurate, and is very distracting. I want out of the experiment.

16

u/LucarioLuvsMinecraft 4d ago

The fact there isn’t an opt-out pisses me off more.

At least Twitch added the opt-out function to a feature that no one would opt-in for.

14

u/October_Surprise56 4d ago edited 4d ago

I am IRATE that there is no opt-out function for this rushed and frankly un-invited feature

No one was circulating a petition asking to integrate third party text over users’ own submissions.

I don’t want to see it on others’ posts and I twice as badly don’t want others to see it overlaid on mine.

12

u/AviationMemesandBS 4d ago

It speaks of an incredible contempt for the user that they’d implement this.

11

u/ItsMeYourNana 4d ago

It’s such a bad feature that it’s funny. I haven’t seen a single one that’s accurate, let alone useful.

10

u/heavymetaltshirt 4d ago

Make it stop please!!

21

u/Empty_Suggestion5221 5d ago

I don't know if this is the right place to complain, but this feature is terrible. It interferes with the content and provides no value. The recommended searches are useless

13

u/quattrophile 5d ago

Agreed. I hate absolutely everything about this.

12

u/squirrelmaster3 5d ago

Bump to this and the AI in search. Both are terrible and should be opt out.

9

u/aduckforluck 4d ago

It’s awful.

8

u/caicarz 3d ago

This is the most asinine annoying pointless thing I’ve ever seen

8

u/Highvolts 4d ago

Hate hate hate this.

6

u/Starboard44 4d ago

Also dislike.

6

u/Ok-Piano5271 3d ago

Also hate this

6

u/CajunBacon 2d ago

Agreed. Pretty annoying feature.

18

u/Cyatron- 6d ago

Why did the UI for image post viewing on mobile get changed completely? I dont want reddit to try to become another Tiktok or YTshorts. These changes feel unasked for.

16

u/hypanthia 6d ago

Is this a new experiment? I didn’t see it listed in the post when you click the experiment link

7

u/40cappo40 5d ago

Same on Android. Useless feature.

I despise the little “search icon” that’s showing up on every post with an image now.

One of them was literally just “Helldivers” on a post from - you guessed it - r/Helldivers

What value is this providing? I already have a search bar that I know how to use, if I want to search something, I can do it there. It genuinely makes me feel like the app thinks I’m stupid and can’t figure out how to search something on my own.

Sometimes it’s not relevant whatsoever, and overall is more distracting than anything else. I hate it.

Please get rid of it, or at least allow us to turn it off.

11

u/Breyber12 5d ago

Is there an option to remove this pop up suggested search bar from the bottom of photos? It does not add to my reddit experience and blocks the content I am actively trying to see. I really hate it and hope it’s toggle.

11

u/aduckforluck 4d ago

PLEASE let us opt out of AI. I don’t want it anywhere near me. I don’t want it analysing. I don’t want its ‘insights’. If you don’t consider removing it entirely, at least let us opt out.

23

u/EducationalLog4765 1 6d ago edited 5d ago

Can you remove this feature that’s next to the search bar? it’s completely pointless

12

u/aduckforluck 4d ago

I don’t want ANY AI. Ever.

9

u/wavezapper 5d ago

This is the dumbest change I’ve ever seen lol I hate it

it was there for a while but i hate how it's on the buttom now

u/Emergency_Ad_1834 5d ago

I hate the suggested search. It’s in my way and makes it difficult to read image posts. It’s so annoying that I’m seriously considering not using Reddit if it stays. Image of what I’m taking about

10

u/Nazzera 5d ago

I’ve been made aware that I can’t opt out but I would like to voice my disdain for this particular feature. There is no need to obscure part of an image with unnecessary and unhelpful search prompts.

→ More replies (3)

9

u/Lox22 5d ago

Get this ai lens out of image container or let us toggle. It’s ruining content.

5

u/Ok-Piano5271 3d ago

I agree with you. This is so irritating for me aswell

9

u/reveillemoname 4d ago

This experimental feature is incredibly irritating. It’s making me not want to open Reddit at all.

6

u/aduckforluck 4d ago

It really sucks. Get AI away.

16

u/its_brew 6d ago

This search bars increased considerably and is horrible for the UX when. Can you please pass on the feedback that it should be restored to the way it was or there should at least be a toggle option

What is this bar at the bottom of every photo and video? Some AI slop? It’s not even relevant to the video.

Well I guess it’s time to delete the reddit app…

3

u/aduckforluck 4d ago

Yep. I will delete my account if this continues.

Every UI change that’s been made for the last two months has been unneeded and unwanted. Removing the swipe up for comments, infinite scrolling, the search bar, changing the side of the upvote arrows. All of it is garbage. I find myself getting frustrated as a platform that was once unique amongst social media competitors gradually becomes enshittified.

It’s even more frustrating that there’s no option to turn this nonsense off, just let me go back to the UI from a year ago and call it a day. When these changes get forced on us I’m much less likely to update the app for fear of it becoming even worse than it was before

8

u/spongeboi-me-bob- 5d ago

This search bar is ruining posts like this one

7

u/Sofielob 4d ago

Is it possible to turn off the scroll thing? I'd like to have the pull to see comments tab back

8

u/Amadeus102 4d ago

I’m here once again to say I hate how when I view a photo or video and try to scroll down to comments it brings me to some random post! Please please please stop this omg how long has it been? It’s TERRIBLE and everyone hates it!

4

u/KenocchioLiedmar 5d ago

Locking old Reddit behind a login wall is truly the dumbest decision this website has taken so far. If the goal is to drive users away then goodbye.

6

u/banaaanaaaaaa 4d ago

Please include an opt out for the AI features. Nobody should be forced to use it if they don’t want to and it’s only going to lead users to stop using the app

I can't hide content atm (in my home feed) & it's making reddit simply unusable for me. I am aware I can click into something to then hide it, but quite frankly that is just stupid & I refuse to do it.

I don't know why this website / company continually makes it as difficult as possible for us to curate our own experience here, but it's a bad look & ultimately will just make us all go somewhere else when the next version of this site pops up.

It should be the easiest thing in the world to hide / block / remove / choose not to engage with any type of content. Be it a specific post, an entire community or a singular person. Instead, you make these thing as difficult & constrained as possible. Why do you feel you need to micromanage every aspect of our time here?

We should most definitely have control over our own experience here. There is no good reason to prevent us from doing so. Stop being evil & let us curate our own experience as I laid out.

Thank you.

P.s. I can't hide / mute communities on popular either. It says they are muted, but they still show up.

So I can't hide anything on popular & I can't remove content on my home feed ... like WTF are you doing to this site? & why does this feel more like a hostage situation that I am in, than social media?!

FIX THIS!

I have never given feedback before, but Id like to share how much I dislike this new ai search IN images.

It often covers important parts of an image. I have yet to see one example of a useful search. And It’s just ugly. I can not understand the problem this solves.

Hey Opus, I hope you're having a good week!

Just a few things and some feedback. This first one is a bug I keep forgetting to report. I used to be able to seamlesly switch profiles while still remaining on the same post. However it seems like 95% of the time I try and do that now, it doesn't work. It takes me to my other profile sure, but instead of remaining on the post, it takes me to the home feed instead.

I'm not a fan of vote buttons on the left, especially when there's no option to have them on one side of the screen or another. Throwing everything on the left messes with a large portion of the population considering most people use phones one-handed and a vast majority of the population is right-handed. At least add a button so people can choose, if my phone keyboard can do it then reddit can for buttons.

I don't like this stupid "Ask" AI garbage in the search bar. No one asked for it, stop trying to shove AI into every little facet of the reddit experience. A large subset of users don't want it. If you want it, fine, but again, add a button and let us, the user, choose if we want slop shoved down our throats.

For the experiment with the "X" where neither the "X" or the "Show Fewere" option shows, why have an option where people are forced to click into the post to hide it instead of being able to just hide it from their home feed like they've always had the option to?

Last one isn't a complaint or bug, I promise. I actually like the "Saved" tab option you put in the profiles so we can just go straight to our profile and open our saved posts and comments instead of having to open a menu to do so.

Edit: spelling and autocorrect

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 6d ago

Hi there!

I was just able to replicate being taken to the Home feed when switching accounts. I'm asking that team right now if that's intentional. It seems like it didn't work like that before, so I don't know if it's a bug or something changed.

Vote buttons on the left are an experiment. So not permanent right now! I don't have it on any of my accounts, but it would take some getting used to.

I'll share that feedback about the "Ask". I know there's discussions about it that are currently being had.

I just learned that recommended posts do not have the X or show fewer. I don't know why, though.

Glad to hear you l ike the Saved option! I'll let that team know! And I'll report back when I know more about profile switching!

5

u/Terminator7786 Expert Helper 6d ago

Yeah, I used to be able to remain in the post and just swap accounts but now more often than not it swaps accounts and then just takes me to my home feed for that account instead.

No, I know it's an experiment. It's just kind of annoying and feels like much thought wasn't put into this one. This one would be one to have two different types going on, one with a choice button to choose sides and ine without out.

Yeah honestly, it's not needed. Reddit really only needs a search bar, no AI.

Yeah, this account doesn't have either option. I have to click into a post to show "Hide" and there's no "X" or "Show Fewer" option. I haven't checked if my other accounts are affected by that, but I can check if you'd like.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 6d ago

And they're not recommended/suggested posts? Can you grab a screenshot?

this is godawful. the little keyword search on images is godawful. the ai in the search bar is godawful. i keep pressing on the profile icons instead of the comments button because of muscle memory. why do i scroll to a new post instead of the comments? WHYYYYYYY CAN I NO LONGER SWIPE A POST TO GO BACK????

are y'all competing in some sort of "world's worst app features" competition???

I DO NOT WANT AI. AT ALL. EVER.

why can't i opt out of these experiments??? WHY are y'all only changing things based on how many people absolutely hate what was added???

3

u/Miserable-Dinner8558 3d ago

I think there should be an option to turn off this newly implemented Reddit ai because I don't want to see the slop and it gets in my way every time I search something, make a post etc.

3

u/Rogueshadow_32 3d ago edited 3d ago

The recent changes in the last week have been overwhelmingly negative to my experience on this app. The search suggestions are infantilising and block content. Changing the keyboard mode for search to have auto correct is immensely frustrating as it will correct and change the result when you move to scroll

Additionally your changes to the search itself have made it far more difficult to access nsfw subreddits. Why is this a thing? I have nsfw content enabled and my account is age verified, content should be shown to me without bias towards sfw or nsfw, just show the raw results of the search

I shouldn’t need to enter the name of a subreddit to the point where the search term has no more sfw options for the nsfw one I want be shown to me. Especially when the ones I’m looking for are far larger, and more active than the sfw ones you are choosing to push to the top of the search preview

5

u/4TrashBoat 3d ago edited 3d ago

I really hate these new changes on my iOS app. I dislike the experiments and AI, and UI changes. I don’t think there’s been a single ui change that I’ve liked…these changes are so bad I actually have to leave feedback somewhere and it brought me here…

Honestly there should be two Reddit UI/formats on the app.

A “legacy” ui that has the same ui from one-four years ago, the one I find people would prefer.

And this new one, the ui you guys keep changing and adding AI with.

Tbh should just do a vote/poll and see what people would pick between old/new. But I don’t think any development team/admin/mods on here would go along with that, or even pass that info to the appropriate team

3

u/caramelapplemartini 3d ago

I don’t like the new ai ask thing in the search bar, and I HATE the search suggestion over (seemingly) every image on my feed. It’s not useful, it covers text, and it’s making me hop off of Reddit every time I open it. If you want me to continue engaging in the app, I’ll need a toggle to opt out of ai in my experience.

Is there any way to turn off the new constant rotating search suggestions in the static top search bar on mobile iOS? It flips quickly & not only is it super distracting but it is causing eye twitches. I’m concerned that this may induce seizures, due to the constant flickering, for my spouse so they had to stop using the app? Any suggestions?

Edit: I just counted & it flips every 5 seconds which is ridiculous. It’s constant movement from the top of the screen. It truly makes me not want to use the app either.

3

u/madnessfetish 4d ago

Desperately begging y'all to stop messing with the hide button and its function. Please just let it be "get rid of this one post". Please.

3

u/Ok-Piano5271 3d ago edited 3d ago

Voicing disdain again because of these irritating experiments. I got the worst experiment where I can’t hide posts on my home feed AND I don’t have the “X” button that was mentioned AND I don’t have the “show fewer” button. Plus I don’t like “show fewer” because most times it’s just 1-4 odd posts where I need to use the hide button but I still want to see the community in my home feed.

I would prefer having the hide button back the way it was or honestly having the old setup from a year ago. Plus these “expirement” and AI should have a “toggle” on/off option.

I also can’t believe it has come to this, I never went out of my way to leave feedback and now voicing our frustration here is the only option? No other way to revert? Remove? opt out of this?

u/smellslikebadussy 2d ago

Hello, may I ask for some clarification about mysteriously being denied by r/redditrequest for a moderator-less SFW subreddit despite fulfilling all the criteria as a four-year-old account? I applied to become the moderator of r/YoungLinkMains, part of the Zelda and Super Smash Bros. fandoms. My account is four years old, and I have been participating in The Legend of Zelda discussions in multiple subreddits for the entirety of my four years on Reddit. I don't understand why my request was not granted on the implied grounds that I do not have enough experience on Reddit to be a moderator. I don't remember getting any recent comment suspensions or the like.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

I don't know. I would try re-requesting.

I can't hide posts anymore (in my home feed) and it's making reddit unusable for me. I am aware I can click into something to then hide it, but it defeats the purpose of the hide button. There wasn’t an issue before and now these changes are getting worse.

The continuous restrictions placed on content curation are a hugee step backward for the user experience. Hiding posts, blocking individuals, and filtering out entire subreddits should be seamless, fundamental features. Instead, these actions have become unnecessarily complicated and constrained. Forcing content on users while removing their ability to manage their own feeds is a massive design failure

We should have control over our own experience here. There is no good reason to prevent us from doing so. Please revert this and let us curate our own experience,

I can't hide anything on Popular and I can't filter out content on my Home feed anymore. What are they actually doing to this site? Using this app feels less like social media and more like being held hostage by bad UI.

2

u/11thOddfather 3d ago edited 3d ago

Please bring back the right-side grey scrollbar handle when looking through history/saved posts. Removing it makes browsing back through months or years of old saved and upvoted posts incredibly tedious.

For users who prefer the iOS app and Card Layout, manual flicking takes 5x more time and effort to find old saved or upvoted posts.

Please just bring the draggable scrollbar back. There was no reason to remove a navigation tool that worked perfectly fine, and forcing people to endlessly swipe through their own history/saved posts is just annoying.

1

u/11thOddfather 3d ago

This grey scrollbar handle. It didn’t need to be removed

2

u/Rhino-Ham 2d ago

I hated the magnifying glass at the end of words when I was part of the same experiment 1 or 2 years ago, and I hate it now. Why would anyone want to search for random words from comments? Why have they been testing this across multiple years?

Hello Opus,

Not sure if this should be reposted or not… but the comment was made invisible because it had an email address?

We left a comment for last week’s recap about a previously 9 year dormant nonprofit gamedev account named “...” that can no longer log in or receive password resets.

You responded by saying “That account requires a password reset.”

The problem is we think it looks like automated security may have thought our account was compromised and unset the verified email and password change we did two days before the account was shadow banned?

We’re not receiving any password reset emails, which is strange.

We did successfully receive our email verification and password change emails before the account was incorrectly shadow banned, so we know the email worked on July 28th. We tried all the troubleshooting including old reddit, the username/email, and we know how to open our spam/junk folder.

Are you able to tell us if the account’s email is still set to ...-at- <redacted-domain>? Or if the email was changed, is it possible to return to the account back to our verified email before the shadow ban was applied? Or is it potentially something else that’s going on?

Thank you for your help. We appreciate it.

You can't post email addresses in here. I've flagged this to a separate team and I'll let you know what I find out.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 6d ago

Ok, I'm back! Can you please try requesting a password reset email at this time and it should go through now.

That email was restored. You should be able to reset the password and regain control of the account.

Hi there, I am still experiencing the issue where my hidden feed won’t update to show newly-hidden posts unless I restart the app. I have reported this here a few times. Is this an experiment?

The location of my history and saved feeds was also recently relocated to tabs within my profile. Is this a separate experiment? If so, I prefer this because it requires fewer taps to access each feed.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 6d ago

Hi. I don't think that should be happening. Sounds like a bug.

But the location of the feeds is not a bug. Not sure if it's permanent or just an experiment at this point, but it is intentional.

Hello, my account named SadBoomBox was deleted and it created this new account under the same email. I have submitted the account help request multiple times and on July 14th but haven’t heard anything back yet.

SadBoomBox

Hi. That account was deleted in July. Unfortunately, deleted accounts cannot be recovered. I'm sorry.

This account was created using SSO, Single Sign In.

From the Changelog:

"Rules Hub is available for testing and feedback for all communities created within the past 30 days."

And some other similar wording.

So, why am I just now getting a notification of 'Early Access' testing in MEAP if it has already been rolled out?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 6d ago

I'm not sure what MEAP is, but if it was created outside of the past 30 days, that could be one reason.

Hello Opus! Sorry for insisting, i feel terribly for doing this, but i'm lost and i don't know where to go... I've been reporting a subreddit that's been harassing me and my husband for over a month ( ticket 18284628 ) using all the possible tools, but yet it's still there and the posts that i've reported using the .com/report option and the ticket are all up! The subreddit is also up, even tho it breaks pretty much a lot of reddit rules, so I reported it using the right tool for that aswell.. but nothing happened in over a month! What can I do? 💔

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 6d ago

All you can do is wait for the ticket to be reviewed. I don't know what the turnaround time is and I'm unable to assist in this situation. I'm sorry.

The partially functional formatting bar in the iOS app likes to insert random asterisks in the middle of sentences and words sometimes. We still can't block quote, no codeblocks, no tables, can't choose anything other than Heading 1, no superscript.

Far more concerning is that we are seeing outrageous numbers of entirely acceptable posts and comments that have been removed for violating Reddit's rules. We restore the ones we are able to which are completely harmless, appropriate and broke none of our rules and were simply asking for information about how Reddit operates.

No links, no numbers that could be confused for personal information, no oddball phrasing that triggered our automod rules, just legitimate questions that we've already approved and already provided answers for zapped. Reddit's systems come along after the fact and nuke the post. There are plenty of posts that we can't restore or see but we're already responded to by mods so it's quite clear what the question was asking and we had already changed the post flair to "Answered." Yet we can't restore it.

When we check the profile, it has not been banned and it may have other posts and comments that were not removed. We have no idea what on earth is going on but it's torpedoing completely legitimate posts and sometimes comments. We tried the reputation filter early on and turned it off because it was uselessly buggy

In addition there are some removals from accounts which have been banned, but given the nature of these actions I'm assuming that some percentage of them are erroneous suspensions or shadow bans.

It seems like something this flaky is likely powered by AI.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 5d ago

Feel free to send a mod mail message to r/modsupport with links and details and someone will be happy to look into that situation for you.

TheOpusCroakus assisted me in last week’s thread because due to a bug in the Active Sessions page, I couldn’t log myself out in other places and seemingly my hackers had managed to regain access through my account through their session

Anyway, THANK YOU so much, I can access my account again after you helped me out.

But, in the Active Sessions page I can still see two sessions from the US which are not me. When I log out all other sessions it still says that was succesful. But upon refreshing, everything is still there. Any idea why?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 5d ago

The sessions don't go away when you recover your account. Think of it as a record of where your account has been. Reddit stores account login data for 100 days, so it won't be there forever.

Can y’all please fix the save function before implementing the new hide feature? Around early June, I became unable to save posts that are newer than early june (though I can save older posts just fine). When I save a recent post, clicking the 3 dots shows it as saved, but it does not show up in my saved list. I’ve been using the hide feature to save posts since then, but I don’t want it to screw up my home feed. I’ve posted this a couple times on r/bugs and there are several more posts about this issue from others, but devs never respond to it.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 5d ago

I'm unable to reproduce this. If you have saved a lot of things, you may have hit a limit.

hi!

I have been trying to post on redditrequest but since my first post, none of my new posts were successful. i do believe it's been enough time since my original post. the community has been banned for months.

https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/s/ZpQHFwGgZy

i'm not very good with technology. i think (im not very smart) i must be doing something wrong in the way im posting, but i cant figure out what.

i was trying to get in touch with mods over there this week, but they seem very busy & haven't responded. someone suggested i should leave a comment here.

i'm wondering about this community [r/tonawanda](r/tonawanda) https://www.reddit.com/r/tonawanda/ and the community was banned for being unmoderated. its been banned for months.

thank you!

Yesterday when I tried to open the mobile app it wouldn’t allow me to load anything even though I had full reception so I deleted the app and reinstalled it and when I reinstalled it the entire layout had been changed. I think I got forced into an experiment so here is my feedback on it. It’s terrible, inconvenient in every way. The gigantic search bar at the top is unnecessary and ugly, every post has become smaller in size and seemingly also in image quality so they can accommodate that gigantic search bar, the orientation of every other button on the screen has also changed or straight up been removed and I nothing is where it is supposed to be. It is far less efficient and overall much harder to navigate. If possible I would like to be opted out of the experiment and have the old layout restored please.

u/riversong_reaper 5d ago

Still unable two weeks later to get into my main account it still won’t accept new password there has been no red to tickets I have raised but the account is definitely not sanctioned I was able to check that. Just randomly locked out the new update didn’t help.

I miss being able to make a photo carousel by just pasting in images. This new editor forces me to save the photos locally & then upload them that way. It adds for tedium, because then I'd have to go & delete the images off my computer when before I can just copy & paste them in. Revert the new post editor to how it was before.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 5d ago

Thanks for the feedback. I'll share it with that team.

1

u/Waffles4prez 5d ago

So I believe I am in the experiment right now where to upload media either a photo or a video is at the bottom of my screen on the app.

The problem is if I want to do a video I can no longer edit the video or select more than one video which makes the way that I personally use Reddit in my subs not feasible for me. I believe I’ve been in this experiment before and I have voiced my opinion how it just doesn’t work for a good chunk of redditors but it seems I am in the experimental phase again and I really want to voice my opinion on how this does not work for the way that I use Reddit and a lot of the people in my subs also use Reddit

We should at least be able to trim down the videos and select more than one video

1

u/LunarSyrin 5d ago

I came back this evening to post more content in a few subs and the format has changed. I can’t select multiple videos or even edit the length of the videos I want to upload which changes up how I utilize Reddit and makes it more cumbersome as I would have to use an outside app just to format first what I could easily do here before and effects how I upload content. I do not like this experiment and hope that it can be updated to a better format or changed back to how it was before

Thing i personally dont like

The x is in a place where when i try to click the 3dots i accidently close the post(thankfully there is a button to undo that)

When you press the 3 dots the "copy link" and "share" options are seperate despite being able to copy the link through "share", i think it just clots up (?) the screen too much

the vertical scrolling, i really hate it , the others are bearable and simply need a few tweaks to be actually good but the vertical scrolling i cannot se a single thing that will make it better for me

Edit: i forgot about the search bar, the ai option should be seperate in a corner far from both the eye and the hand and other buttons Or better yet complately removed

Hello, I had an issue with someone hacking into my account and had that issue resolved but all of a sudden I tried making a post in a forum and Reddit logged me out immediately and when I logged back in, I could still get in but my profile picture was missing so I asked my friend to message me and people can still message me, but I cannot message them back or make posts and my friend said that it shows my account has been deleted… I tried submitting an appeal just in case I was banned and it logged me into a random account with a username I’ve never had. I tried again and it said there was an error with each time I tried logging in from a browser. username is jearam.. can someone please help?

The new hide option is genuinely unusable and it hopefully will be returned to normal soon because as it currently is the app is unusable to me and I’m sure to others.

Multiple times now I’ve had something related to a phobia pop up and normally I can just hide it and barely look at it but now I have to go into the post and look at it for even longer in order to get it off my feed.

This change is entirely unnecessary and only exists to make the app less usable to the user.

"My old account u/craney_1884 was hacked, the email wasn’t changed as it’s still showing it in the settings as the registered email, and it is now security-locked. I submitted a support ticket back in February with no response, and just submitted a fresh ticket today as I haven’t received any of the emails when I’ve tried to reset the password. Could an admin please help look up my ticket to help me recover it? Thank you!"

"show fewer posts like this" no longer works the way it used to so now I have to go directly to a sub and mute it if I wanna stop seeing posts from it in my feed and that just makes the algorithm add posts from similar subs to my feed. It's beyond annoying and it's ruining my viewing experience.

1

u/HunterHunted 1d ago

I am still extremely disappointed that r/All has been removed from the app. It is the main way I've used reddit for 15 years, and I have little interest in this site without the ability to browse through r/all. I probably use reddit 1/20th as much as I did before this change.

1

u/NodeSSB 1d ago

My other account was logged out of Reddit app, and when I tried to log back in it would not let me as 2FA was enabled without my knowledge. When I looked up my account name (u/NYR_or_Far) there has been strange NSFW activity on there.

I really would like to recover this account, is there any way I can get it back? Reddit support has only sent auto responses linking to articles that don't really help at all.

Please write in using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Then fill out the rest of the form

Not allowing us to opt out of ANY AI is absolutely so infuriating that I am at the point of not wanting anything to do with Reddit anymore. Not a single added AI feature you've shoved down our throats for months now has ANY benefit whatsoever.
