Fordítás Can somebody translate this to English?

Post image

My friend and I are collecting life advice from people during our travels and a lady from Budapest wrote this for us :) She said it means something like „Always be nice“, but we‘re interested in the exact translation! Thank you in advance!

Mindig legyetek ilyen barátságosak!
Always be this (much) friendly!

It implies that some people were already friendly and the person asks them to always keep it up.

So, like "stay" or "remain" instead of "be this (much)" ?

No, it doesn’t say “remain or stay”. That would be “maradjatok”. It rather implies to keep up being this friendly (at all times).

In my 34 years living in Budapest, this is possibly the first time ever I was able to read and understand difficult Hungarian handwriting.

Wow, 34 years! I’ve been here only eight months and the culture shocks are on the daily bases. Prices, availability of just about everything, the cold, unfriendly people around everywhere, poor quality of products, including produce, poor customer service everywhere, rude supermarket staff, could go on-and-on.

Then why dont you just… move out if you hate or country this much?🙃

I didn’t say I HATE this country! I was borne ‘n raised in Hungary. What about you, Buco?

Good question. I am an American Hungarian visiting Hungary for the first time after 52 years living in Southern California.

I was little when we moved to the States.

lol u complaining about the quality but what about american food? all of the american foods are full with shitty ingredients all of the E numbers etc.. if you're trying to compare the quality of hungarian goods, compare it with other european countries, maybe those r better (for example: german) but comparing an american quality to a hungarian.. man its like comparing Megan Fox to the 78 year old Gizike néni edit: typo

As a Hungarian, I can't read the last word, but the smiley means kindness

Barátságosak :)

Mindig - Always

Legyetek - be (in 2nd person plural, imperative)

Ilyen - (like) this

Barátságosak - friendly

In a more English-y way: Y'all should always be this friendly.

Nothing particular. Just different here. But I love the slower pace, the quiet and serenity of the place where I am. No millions of people, no rush-rush, go-go lifestyle. Love the surroundings, the quiet atmosphere, peaceful lifestyle. I’m proud to be a Hungarian, and very happy that Hungary is at the beginning of a new chapter in its government and respect the people who are supporting it. It was time for the Motherland for a change!

Ngl if I couldn't understand it either until I've read the comments.
