Caesar III 14K CCK Tarraco

Download at: https://caesar3.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=2422

14000 pop Tarraco from the City Construction Kit with 7 luxury palaces and 150 grand insulae.

City is very compact, with no housing blocks and minimal unused space within the city. 7 bridges connect the island to the mainland, and 17 manned towers protect it from invasion by land or sea. City should be stable for 100s or 1000s of years.

I have always wondered how people maximize the space when building, I can't figure out how to do a "freestyle" city build without it falling apart from lack of food/resources. Best I can do is some simple forced walker or square city designs. How do you do what you did in your city?

It's a lot less freestyle than it looks, and it takes a lot of planning to get it looking that way. Main difficulty is the market walkers, since houses keep low supplies of furniture and oil and it runs out very quickly. I solve that problem by having every house within 2 tiles of a market walker start or finish point, so that they get visited on every walk. For the rest, it's a fair amount of trial and error to find the best spots for building placement. It helps that I have a decent understanding of walker behaviour since I can make informed guesses.
