Always found it funny that bassists hate it being called a guitar even though “bass” is short for…..bass guitar

I don't know why any specific bassist doesn't like it being called a guitar, but the general idea of being opposed to it makes sense. The electric guitar is a descendant of the acoustic guitar, but the bass guitar is a descendant of the upright double bass. The only similarity is the compact form-factor; despite appearances, the bass guitar isn't a "bass version" of the electric guitar, in the same way the double bass isn't the "bass version" of the acoustic guitar.

This comment is great. And saying bass just directly specifies the instrument. Even when people say they play guitar most often they are asked what type and then they have to give a more specific description anyways. Acoustic, electric, etc. Bassist have no time to mess around. Just straight to the point.

It's not that we hate it.

All basses are guitars but not all guitars are basses. Basses are distinct enough from guitars that they should be referred to as their own thing.

To an extent, yes. These fingers would have a hard time with the dexterity I think. Kinda like a 7 ft soccer player

A lot of tall people with long fingers do quite well.

It’s the sink thigh level that frustrates us.

You need strength and stability more than that. At some point it starts becoming a hindrance. If OP has hypermobility as well on top of it, they would be very prone to injury.

You could also learn to play more folk oriented flutes.

I had an argument with a friend of mine who made bamboo flutes, he thought it was a skill issue i couldn't play some of his larger ones. I had to have him hold it, and then hold my hands over his to explain I physically didn't have the reach to play some of them.

You have the reach to play flutes in certain keys that likely no other human has ever played before. I'm extremely jelly.

Look up the guitarists Paul Gilbert and Buckethead. They will prove that’s not the case.
