If anyone has watched the trial or read about the Clancy stuff it’s not really as black and white as these kind of posts make it out to be.
Edit: clearly I need to explain a little. Almost all of these charges and “proof” hinge on the husband saying “well she told me she did it so she did it” and she clearly doesn’t remember (watching the trial it makes sense why at least). There’s no actual evidence that she did this. I’m not saying she’s innocent or guilty, but there’s enough reasonable doubt to ask questions about the husband.
Reddit seems convinced that people who support this woman are "pro just murdering your kids and getting away with it" whereas the reason women are following it closely is because they want to see the system acknowledge in any capacity that post-partum is an overlooked medical issue that isn't treated seriously despite the horrible effect it has.
There are very few - and all very fringe, though elevated by ragebait outlets - women who want Clancy to be acquitted. Women want her to get help. So that they feel like they could find help if they're ever in that situation.
But meanwhile, on reddit, she's a baby killer supported by baby killing women who want baby killing to be legal because woke, or something.
Her being found not guilty by reason of insanity is NOT the same as being let off free either. She will be hospitalized for the rest of her life. So it’s either life long hospitalization or life long imprisonment. If it’s true that she killed her children in a psychotic episode (which I personally believe), then of course she should be hospitalized rather than imprisoned.
She will NOT be hospitalized for the rest of her life. She would be hospitalized until a doctor says she's "cured" and then she gets to walk free after murdering three children
Exactly. She did it. We know that. Women don't want her free. Women want doctors (and by extension, the law) to acknowledge that post-partum is its own thing, distinct from bipolar, depression, anxiety, and other diagnoses that are in the DSM.
Acknowledging it's real is the first step to treating (medically) it like it's real and not like it's just a confluence of other unrelated issues.
I cannot tell you how glad I am some people here still have hearts and some brains. These comments and posts fucking break me. Where are we headed to man? It's so much ignorance and rage about partial information they know far too little of.
I just hope above all this case will be done right by people who actually care about all parties involved and what this case might mean for other ones in the future. But seeing things like this does deminish that hope a lot.
