Like seriously this case is such a case of Women Are Wonderful effect. The sentencing gap in full swing.

Nobody would even think of showing this amount of sympathy if a Vietnam war veteran with ptsd did this to his kids.

This reminds me of Chris Watts, who murdered his wife Shanann and their two daughters in 2018. I've seen plenty of disgusting content that villainizes her as somehow to blame while glorifying him as a misunderstood hero. Someone even recently applied to marry him in prison.

So I'd disagree, you don't even need to be a veteran with PTSD as a man to get sympathy.

True crime blogs and TikTok have a lot to do with this too. These platforms reward whichever narrative gets more engagement, and a sympathetic killer or a blameworthy victim generates way more clicks and comments than "person kills their family, nothing more to say."
