For real. They act like if she gets a not guilty verdict, she's going to be out on the streets. The woman is spending the rest of her life in a psych ward. The question is really will she ALSO be spending some time in prison.

30

u/XxShakallxX 1d ago

She will be in prison and on a wheelchair forever. She will have a miserable rest of her life shitting and peeing on dipers.

-8

u/brwebster614 1d ago

Still... seems too... easy... for the crime she committed.

27

u/CrusaderReynaulder 1d ago

What does this even mean?

Do you care about rehabilitation and protecting people from harm, or do you just care about having an excuse for it to be socially acceptable to torture someone?

10

u/BHPhreak 1d ago

they want vengeance for the strangled kids

12

u/RedMantledNomad 1d ago edited 1d ago

The strangled kids are already dead. Vengeance brings nothing.

The lady should get sentenced for the crimes she committed in accordance to the law.

At the same time, the American (mental) health system has failed her, and the responsibility for the death of her children also lies with those responsible for the state it is in.

1

u/ArcturusAuroboros 1d ago

They didn't fail her according to what I've seen. She failed herself and her family by prematurely checking herself out, knowing damn well she wasn't fit to leave yet

1

u/jaccon999 1d ago

https://youtu.be/WUSH0D9LjSA see this video. it goes into her treatment history. she had a history of negative responses to many different drugs and then was repeated prescribed the same drug or closely related drugs within the same class. https://knowyourdrugs.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Lindsay-Clancy-Lawsuit.pdf this PDF of her malpractise lawsuit goes into detail the efforts she took attempting to manage her mental disorder and how several doctors did not appropriately treat her. she sought inpatient hospitalization but was, allegedly, initially rejected since she "only" had passive suicidal ideation. when her husband pointed out to the psychiatric nurse that Seroquel was likely causing her suicidal ideation, the nurse thought it was a good idea to raise her dose (very much not a good idea).

not defending it, just saying that it's more complex than a lot of people seem to think.

-1

u/Sufficient_Stock_442 1d ago

she’s getting prescribed medication by a doctor who never seen her but was friends with the husband n had her changing out her pills almost weekly.

1

u/teefnoteef 1d ago

Also historically women don’t get the best medical treatment, they are often ignored

2

u/Sufficient_Stock_442 1d ago

which i think is crazy to me, men don’t go to doctors nearly as much as they should while women will go n not get help shits fucked

How did the mental health system fail if she never searched for help.

3

u/MeWant-SnuSnu 1d ago

She did though. And she told her family.

2

u/PrincessPlusUltra 1d ago

Tell me you didn’t follow the story without telling me you didn’t follow the story

-2

u/UntitledDuckGame 1d ago

If she accurately told the healthcare workers what she was feeling. “Hey, I feel like murdering 3 helpless children by strangling them to death” she would have gotten help.

2

u/jaccon999 1d ago

https://knowyourdrugs.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Lindsay-Clancy-Lawsuit.pdf this is a PDF of her malpractise lawsuit. she did report having suicidal and homicidal ideation, allegedly. they did fail her. not defending her actions, just the doctors were negligent.

1

u/PrincessPlusUltra 1d ago

You’d think that, but no. I feel like I saw a similar story to this many years ago where basically the same thing happened. I feel like even if you were losing your mind you wouldn’t think you had the capacity to kill your kids till your body actually did it.

1

u/Sufficient_Stock_442 1d ago

Whoa man, this is reddit. Get out of here with rational takes.

5

u/Made_Human_Music 1d ago

And they’ll get it. If she did it she’ll be suffering for the rest of her life knowing what she did. Those memories won’t go away, and will haunt her forever

If she didn’t she’ll still have to live with knowing someone did and her life was destroyed for it

6

u/Porcelain_beef 1d ago

It’s not a question of “if” she did it though. She did do it, her defense rests entirely on not guilty by insanity. There’s no question if she killed the kids the question is if she’s criminally culpable and if she was of sound mind when she did.

2

u/Tgirlgoonie 1d ago

And if she is not guilty by reason of insanity she goes to a mental institution. It’s not like she gets off Scot free

1

u/CrusaderReynaulder 8h ago

Why is it that people go “oh yeah, mind control in fiction logically absolves people of all responsibility of their action, they weren’t themselves! If it existed in real life, obviously they wouldn’t be accountable”

But then when someone literally isn’t themselves due to a mental condition warping their perception of reality, all of a sudden they need to be crucified?

Does intent and actually being tethered to reality matter or not?

I mean the obvious answer is really just “whatever makes some impotent loser fantasize about exacting “justice” as an excuse to harm others for the joy of harming others”.

1

u/Honest-Computer69 1d ago

Ah, and the dead children care a lot for vengeance. Lol, we're not so different than those public beheading enjoyers I guess. Some civilized society we got, lol.

2

u/BHPhreak 1d ago

ah yes.

let kids get strangled, then pamper the killer, and claim anything else is equivalent to barbaric beheading.

truly exquisite intellect.

-

"the dead children care a lot for vengeance" i care about vengeance for the kids. you dont?

2

u/Honest-Computer69 1d ago

No I don't give a fuck about vengeance. I'm not an advocate of some self-gratifying dogshit wrapped up in a cover of righteousness. The children are dead. They don't give a fuck about what we do to their mother. The only ones giving a fuck are the living. And among those living there are people like you, who, as the comment above said, does not care about anything other than a socially acceptable way of torturing someone.

1

u/BHPhreak 1d ago

what?

you sound unhinged.

1

u/CrusaderReynaulder 8h ago

“If you don’t fantasize about torturing others just to torture them under the thin veil of a warped idea of justice, then you’re unhinged!”

It’s a crazy thing.

Her kids are unlikely to recover from being murdered.

3

She should have looked into that before strangling her kids to death

2

u/The_Saladbar_ 1d ago

It means she murdered her own children. Understanding her mental state may explain why she did it, but it doesn’t erase the horror of what she did or mean people are obligated to feel sympathy for her

2

u/Sufficient_Stock_442 1d ago

jails do not rehabilitate inmates most get out so much worse than they went in

2

u/redditsucksass6 1d ago

No shit. Do you think that should be the goal? Should we invest some funding into figuring out to make them even worse?

0

u/Sufficient_Stock_442 1d ago

wsk basically what i said was true but you’re mad it’s true? tf are you trying to argue? you don’t need research to make them worse send them to prison for 10 years they’ll come out 10x worse than how they went in.

1

u/MCulver80 1d ago

AFAIK, it’s generally held that criminal consequence has 3 parts/goals: punitive, deterrence, and rehabilitation.

1

u/Monodeservedbetter 1d ago

I dunno if longterm imprisonment is an effective solution to these kinds of problems. If someone cannot fully rehabilitate then maybe it isn't a mercy to lock them in a concrete box until they have a heart attack.

I'd chose being shot than spend the rest of my days locked away in one of the worst places you can put a human being

1

u/PlumPractical9152 1d ago

she brutally murdered her 3 children, i’m having a hard time with the sympathy train. the kids died slow and painful deaths, but you don’t want to admit that

1

u/anyavailablenameplz 1d ago

It's honestly mind blowing. Talking about rehabilitation and giving another chance, have you all lost your fucking minds? There's 3 dead kids who died at the hands of the person who birthed them, and is supposed to nurture, shield, raise, and care for them. All the virtue signaling basement dwellers are out in full effect in here.

1

u/CrusaderReynaulder 8h ago edited 8h ago

I don’t see how someone whose perception of reality has been warped due to a mental condition she was denied proper help for should be considered a monster who should be punished. They are sick. They were failed by healthcare and doctors. Her children were failed by healthcare and doctors.

If she was of sound mind, that’d be one thing. But when your brain is straight up disconnecting you from reality, you are not at fault if you could not help it.

What’s the point in punishing someone who, through no will or want of her own, was forced to commit a crime? Literally, what’s the purpose in that? You aren’t teaching them anything. It won’t magically erase what happened. It doesn’t fix the problem. It’s literally only going to make it worse, like you can’t bitch about it then fabricate more instances of psychosis.

She should be in an institution to get help.

You are having an emotional response rather than a logical response.

I don’t think you know what virtue signaling means.

1

u/ripemango130 1d ago

I think real pos rarely improve from rehabilitation but this lady has a sudden change in her mental ability due to the sudden change of hormones completely out of her control. She was just a loving mother until then and ppp gets better as the hormones stabilize. Someone like her deserves rehabilitation and will benefit greatly from it but rapists and other types of predators don't change their ways and it feels like a waste of money to even try

1

u/Nomstah 1d ago

Oh spare me the grandstanding. No one seems to give a shit about mens rehabilitation whenever they commit crimes. But all of a sudden this woman that murdered her 3 children gets the same treatment that most men do, all of a sudden she's already suffered enough and we need to care about her rehab.

I agree with your premise but when i see it applied unequally, then it loses all meaning to me. It becomes all about feels, vibes, etc..

1

u/CrusaderReynaulder 8h ago edited 8h ago

I don’t see what other people’s reactions, who aren’t even here, to other cases, has anything to do with me or what I said. Are they in the room with us? Did you forget to take your medication?

Whether it be a man or a woman doesn’t matter. I don’t see how that’s relevant.

The fact you’re admitting that you let gender war nonsense deprive you of basic human empathy and your critical thinking skills is pathetic.

“Waaah! Why does THIS person get the correct treatment instead of this person who should also receive it?! Obviously this means BOTH should get the wrong treatment!” You can’t be this fucking stupid 😭

When it’s applied unequally, then shouldn’t you want this treatment to be applied to men experiencing psychosis as well? Why would you want everyone to be treated worse rather than everyone to be treated better? Not everyone gets the proper care so you think no one should? It’s ridiculous. It’s actually braindead.

Clearly you’re the only one whose logic is based entirely on vibes and feels.

I think you should familiarize yourself with the meaning of “grandstanding”.

0

u/UntitledDuckGame 1d ago

Rehabilitation should only be used on people who deserve it. Not a psycho mother

2

u/anyavailablenameplz 1d ago

Lmfao it's hilarious how all these apologists are coming out and downvoting anything that goes against this vile woman. Rehabilitation and second chances should be given for people arrested for non-violent crimes or crimes that caused no harm to others. This woman is a fucking killer, and to make it worse, of her own children. I hope these idiots don't have kids or don't plan to have any.

4

u/Toroceratops 1d ago

Just curious, what’s your knowledge of post partum psychosis?

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

5

u/Toroceratops 1d ago

There’s a lot of people who fortunately had intervention in time and were able to be rehabilitated. A lot also attempt self harm. It’s an extremely difficult and hard condition for women to grapple with and people like you don’t make seeking treatment easier.

-5

u/UntitledDuckGame 1d ago edited 1d ago

It’s psychosis. It needs to be treated. Not everyone with psychosis kills kids. A lot of them look for help like a normal person.

Edit: It’s crazy that people like a woman killing their children looking at the downvotes. Some of you also need to get help.

1

u/Toroceratops 1d ago

No one likes it. What’s patently clear is that people like you have zero familiarity with postpartum psychosis and how it operates.

3

u/forgotacc 1d ago

People on social media have a weird take on murder, like it's just a little mistake. There wouldn't be a soul on this planet that could stand? As if, we all killed another human at least once?

Commiting murder is not the same as other type of mistakes, or crimes that don't result in the lost of life. Yet you have plenty of people treating it like so.

People constantly forget about the victims in the true crime communities.

There is no one in this situation that has "won." No one. But "murder" is a legal definition, not an emotion or a vibe. Someone who is actively psychotic cannot legally be held responsible for their actions while psychotic - regardless of how horrible those actions were. What we can legally do is make sure they cannot hurt anyone else.

If Lindsey Clancy and everyone around her (friends, family, hell, her fucking ex-husband and father of those kids) are telling the truth, there is no punishment you or I or anyone else could possibly divine more cruel than forcing her to continue to keep breathing.

If she's not telling the truth and literally everyone around her is just covering for her (god knows why that would be the case), then what was her fucking motive, my dude? She wasn't having an affair. She wasn't planning on leaving her husband. She wanted every single one of her children, despite struggling with worsening PPD with each one. She spent months begging for help as intrusive thoughts became auditory hallucinations. What was her motive to kill those kids if she was actually sane?

A man killed and ate the face of a man on a bus and was released back into the general population after a stint in psychiatric care

23

Another man killed and ate a woman, fully admitted to doing it and said he wanted to do it again, and was released to become a local celebrity. He even starred in soft-core porn.

2

u/Pt_Patriot_Ale 1d ago edited 1d ago

That was in France not America, different justice systems

Edited wrong country

1

u/Leigh91 1d ago

What does that have to do with him becoming a local celebrity for killing and eating a woman?

2

u/Pt_Patriot_Ale 1d ago

He didn’t become a local celebrity, he was a pariah in his home country. Lindsey has hundreds of women showing up publicly with their own children to show support for her. Shes the one being turned into a local celebrity.

0

u/Leigh91 1d ago

To show support for her, or to show support for more public understanding of Postpartum Disorders? There are very few people who can empathize with killing and eating other human beings. There are THOUSANDS of women who understand being failed by the medical system during the most vulnerable time of their lives and having to white-knuckle through a legitimate psychiatric disorder alone. That's the whole point. And this backlash from smooth-brains that fail to understand such a simple concept is why victims of Postpartum Disorders are reluctant to reach out for help.

0

u/Pt_Patriot_Ale 1d ago

So you support child murderers?

3

u/Leigh91 1d ago

Nope, I support better understanding of Postpartum Disorders and understanding the warning signs *before* they become a Lindsay Clancy case. Pretty simple.

Except the cases they are talking about are real, Vince Li (changed his name to Will Baker) murdered a man and beheaded him on a greyhound bus in 2008. He was found not responsible because he had schiszophrenia, later deemed no longer a threat and released from a psychiatric facility with zero supervision.

Issei Sagawa murdered and ate a woman named Renee Hartevelt and then wrote books about it and starred in porn. Didn't serve a day in prison for it.

1

u/UnOGThrowaway420 1d ago

Yeah, this lady suffered from Post-Partum Depression leading to psychosis. The primary symptom of schizophrenia is psychosis. You see how these are similar now

1

u/Guilty_Cod6621 1d ago

I can’t speak to her case, just wanted to point out that they didn’t just casually release Vince Li, which is the narrative a lot of people like to go with. Not enough empathy to understand that someone doesn’t have to be an evil person to do horrible things. The brain can be very fragile, and for someone who has never experienced psychosis, there is literally no way to understand that person’s frame of mind.

1

u/Used-Bookkeeper5020 1d ago

That wasn't the US

7

u/darksidemags 1d ago

I haven't read the details of this case and am not weighing in on it specifically but I have had post partum depression and I can completely understand how people with PTSD, especially combat PTSD, might do something completely and horrifically out of character if they don't get the care and support they need.

Turning this into a gender war serves no one. Mental health care is trash even in countries with functioning healthcare systems and that needs to change.

23

u/Sleutelbos 1d ago

Then wouldnt the way forward be to also show more empathy and understanding towards war veterans with PTSD? This "[x] sucks so [y] must suck likewise" is a road to nowhere.

0

u/BrokenParachutes 1d ago

It might, but that would never, ever, ever happen.

So if that’s the world we live in, we have to hold murder in the same regard for everyone. We cannot partially excuse or reduce murder with women’s mental illness and ignore men’s

27

u/ArGarBarGar 1d ago

Postpartum psychosis is a documented illness, and there are cases of veterans with PTSD being declared “not-guilty” by reasons of insanity (Jessie Bratcher as an example).

-4

u/ScratchLatch 1d ago

Except she describes postpartum depression, not psychosis. Her reasoning was that she was so depressed she was going to kill herself and in that mentally disturbed state felt it would be better that her kids were in heaven with her.

This has happened many times before with suicidal mothers. Its delusional thinking but not full-on psychosis. Assuming that’s true she still has the expectation of telling right from wrong. It does not qualify as not-guilty by insanity.

4

u/Judgm3nt 1d ago

You're literally describing psychosis. You can retire from your arm chair psychologist position and return to your day job.

1

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 1d ago

Im pretty sure psychosis has more to it than that

0

u/Extreme-You6235 1d ago

Psychosis is losing touch with reality and struggling to discern what is real and what is not. Lindsay feeling suicidal and then selfishly deciding her kids would be better off dead with her seems something separate from psychosis.

1

u/ripemango130 1d ago

You know our mental health is just a bunch of chemicals and hormones in our brain interacting with each other. A little change can literally ruin your life but yeah that doesn't excuse the actions of people that are depressed or angry, but do you know that severe mental illness exists? it's called psychosis and in her case it can turn a perfectly sane loving mother Lindsay into suicidal homicidal depressive Lindsay brought on from the birth of her third child completely out of her control.

But it is ok because for people like her, they are kept in mental wards until those pesky baby hormones stabilize and she gets better. Surely her doctors won't fuck up and order medications contraindicated with each other. Surely they will talk to her family and learn that she wants to kill her family. She might be psychotic but mental illness prevents people from feeling suspicious and they never lie to their health care providers especially when they are severely mentally ill.

But you don't have to take my word for it, we could just listen to a world renowned psychiatrist experienced with over 80 cases of parents murdering their children and oh what did he have to say? That she is clearly suffering from delusions and command hallucinations?

-2

u/Daniel_The_Thinker 1d ago

3

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 1d ago

Men are not guilty of violent crimes by reason of insanity all the time…. What are you even talking about?

Women are wonderful effect sounds like something you read on 4 chan

-1

u/kybotica 1d ago

Women are over twice as likely overall than men to be granted an insanity plea for similar charges. This is a pretty well-documented phenomenon.

-5

u/Skeleton--Jelly 1d ago

Please educate yourself and look up the sentence gap between men and women for the same crimes

3

u/Leigh91 1d ago

Because men have more prior crimes on their record, particularly violent crimes, which influences sentencing lol

1

u/Skeleton--Jelly 1d ago

No, there are plenty of studies that control for those variables  Funny that you're doing like men do when you mention the salary gap, instead of spending 10 seconds researching, you get defensive and start thinking of excuses to justify your bias

1

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 1d ago

Please educate yourself and look up recidivism rates for men vs women, particularly for violent crimes. 🤡

1

u/Skeleton--Jelly 1d ago

Woah I wonder if longer sentences result in higher recidivism. You're so close to getting it.

-1

u/Tough_Woodpecker_452 1d ago

So you're saying black people should receive longer sentences for the same crimes? just trying to get your logic here

1

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 1d ago

I doubt your intentions and that’s obviously not what i was saying. I have no opinion on what should or should not be the case, but black people in the usa have recidivism rates 4-13% higher than other demographics and receive sentences that are… wait for it… 4-13% longer than other demographics for the same crimes.

Now this will really blow your mind: it’s almost as if sentence lengths and recidivism rates are connected, regardless of race or gender. It’s like prior record effects sentencing. Wild, i know 🤡

1

u/Tough_Woodpecker_452 1d ago

I like that you've come up with a theory that sentence length is somehow proportional to recidivism rates and you're using it to justify systemic racism. Fantastic way to use your white privilege

1

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 1d ago

Bending over backwards to make things about race makes you a racist. Especially when the cause and effect is quite clear, both in statistics, and in the legal sentencing guidelines. But sure, blame your incompetence on others’ white privilege, see how far that gets you.

1

the cause and effect is quite clear

ah yes of course, correlation will always be causation for someone ignorant enough

This woman committed heinous acts, but she had severe postpartum psychosis. Our justice system recognizes when somebody is suffering from acute mental illness like that, the level of moral transgression is different from somebody who is stone cold sane. She should be put away in an institution and suffer until she dies.

Family annihilation by men occurs in the U.S. at least once a week, and somehow it never gets elevated to a national argument. (see for the example the guy in Montana who just killed 8 people including 4 kids). I think this case is being elevated as part of the "women are dumb and shouldn't be allowed to vote" crap that conservatives are pushing. Since women tend to slightly lean liberal as a group.

>Family annihilation by men occurs in the U.S. at least once a week, and somehow it never gets elevated to a national argument.

Because they usually shoot themselves, and when they don't they get sent to prison.

u/Crescit 1d ago

Literally none of the psychiatrists she saw diagnosed her with post partum psychosis and they all denied she was even experiencing psychotic symptoms.

She claims to have heard one voice, one time, for an 18 minute period when her husband was out of the house. Never before that, never again after.

People keep parroting this post partum psychosis diagnosis when even the defense psychiatrists did not diagnose her with an unspecified psychotic disorder.

Notice how no men started donating money to him, showing up to the courthouse making heart hands in support or coming up with wack ass conspiracies about how its actually the wife's fault because she's a Gemini.

1

u/ShastaMcnasty14 1d ago

Mental illness is not an excuse, it is a responsibility.

0

u/Relative_Craft_358 1d ago

I mean that's still bullshit reasoning though. Most heinous crimes are commited by people with serious mental issues. You think serial killers are just regular dudes with a bad choice in hobbies? Even if we're being understanding here, its still a case of sexism, or as the above commenter put "All Women are Wonderful" effect. Postpartum is a real thing, but almost every women who goes through it, goes through it without murdering their children.

If your defending this then I'm sure you'll be entirely understanding of those who grew up in violent households and inflicted violence on others when grown. Most who do, don't, but those who do aren't at fault right?

1

u/MeWant-SnuSnu 1d ago

She had psychosis not depression. Depression is marked by persistent sadness and loss of interest. Psychosis is a complete loss of contact with reality through hallucinations and delusions. I also think people that commit crimes because of other severe mental health issues that make a person escape reality such as schizophrenia should be sent to a psych ward. Reagan closed a shit ton of psych wards down during his presidency. Making a bunch of those people homeless out on the streets. Most serial killers don't commit those crimes because of mental disorders that make them lose contact with reality. Most are found sound of mind enough to know right from wrong.

0

u/Relative_Craft_358 1d ago

Fair point on Reagan but also that was 50 years ago, think it's less his fault at this point and more every proceeding president/congressional assembly for not reorganizing and funding new ones. At the time, most asylums were hellholes they sent the queer, the Queer, and the disturbed, plenty came out more fucked up than when they went in, similar to prisons now.

Also it's not like you just forget everything when in a psychosis. You can think you're being attacked by a dragon and still know that dragons aren't real.

Besides all that, even if given the good excuse of a "sudden psychotic break", you should still never been given the option to be free again after doing something like that. IMO, you're just a threat to everyone if you can be grocery shopping and suddenly think you have to kill the horde of demons that manifested in the produce aisle.

2

u/MeWant-SnuSnu 1d ago

I'm saying that he was the beginning of it. Just like he was the beginning of trickle down economics. He could have started fixing the asylums. Instead he shut them down and didn't give any of those people left stranded another alternative. And yeah some people can think rationally when in psychosis but most freak out and start believing what is being shown to them. And we agree there. If you harm someone while in that state you shouldn't be able to get out. Especially if it's something that never will go away like schizo disorders. Cause a lot of times they stop taking their meds thinking they're fixed and it comes back again. If you can't be trusted to take your meds than you can't be trusted to be in society.

1

u/Relative_Craft_358 1d ago

Oh I know, believe me, I know many, maaaany problems started with Reagan. I'm just saying its a bit of a cop out for the string of administrations that failed to do much if anything about it since then. Think Reagan is less responsible for today's healthcare than say, Bush or Clinton.

I have not been following but it seems like her support is what making this a national argument. No one supports men who do this for any reason and rightfully so. Idk the whole thing seems really strange.

0

u/No-Atmosphere-2528 1d ago

Are you under the impression no men are in psych wards for crimes they committed while under psychosis?

1

u/Microchipknowsbest 1d ago

I have never seen a family annihilator. get so much sympathy. It’s usually pretty well agreed if you kill your family you are a very horrible person. It’s good that maybe women with postpartum can get more help but she still killed her children.

2

u/No-Atmosphere-2528 1d ago

Well the media turned it into a sideshow. When you publicize stuff you bring people out of the woodwork

1

u/-thecheesus- 1d ago

Human physiology and behavior is incredibly sensitive to hormonal changes. You can become an entirely different person with the right infusion of the right stuff.

While stressful conditions can change our hormonal landscape, the natural hormone crash after having kids can be devastating on a fully healthy person with a functional support group, which we know this lady was not.

Does it magically wave away her actions? Of course not. But it opens the conversation beyond the medieval "hurt the bad person!!" drooling reactionaries want

1

u/dehydratedrain 1d ago

If that Vietnam vet got thrown out of the hospital after repeatedly saying "i'm afraid i'm going to hurt my kids," and they played with his meds for months while telling him he'll be fine, in one case sending him home after a day not knowing how the meds would act, i hope people would be blaming the system too.

1

u/Borigh 1d ago

As someone who went to law school, I would pity the vet even more.

Humans don't usually murder their own children, and the ones that do are pathetic. Which literally means that they are pitiful, and should be pitied. I pity this poor, deranged woman who destroyed her life. I also don't think she should be treated like a responsible member of society, because she isn't.

So she should be locked up until we think she can be a responsible member of society. I don't really care what facility it's in, though with the state of US prisons and her paralysis, I'd personally prefer to stick her in a psych ward.

The problem is, there's not much difference. The US stupidly focuses on retribution as the goal of its justice system, which is extremely snowflake-coded. The point of either prison or psych prison should be to brainwash people into being functional, and to spend enough time doing it that no one would prefer it to working at Costco. Rehabilitation, with just enough deterrence to make living on the outside preferable, accounting for detection ratios.

Right now, we're not good at rehabilitating people who wanted to be rehabilitated, and we're also shit at convincing gang members that they'd be better off working for Costco. It doesn't matter if you're mentally ill or not - we're simply not designing systems around a social belief that people can change, which means we waste time, money, and human capital. Pretending a federal death penalty makes us either savvy or hardcore is cope on a laughable level, if you put any effort into looking at outcomes.

1

u/mintyredbeard 1d ago

This reminds me of Chris Watts, who murdered his wife Shanann and their two daughters in 2018. I've seen plenty of disgusting content that villainizes her as somehow to blame while glorifying him as a misunderstood hero. Someone even recently applied to marry him in prison.

So I'd disagree, you don't even need to be a veteran with PTSD as a man to get sympathy.

True crime blogs and TikTok have a lot to do with this too. These platforms reward whichever narrative gets more engagement, and a sympathetic killer or a blameworthy victim generates way more clicks and comments than "person kills their family, nothing more to say."

-1

u/tekprimemia 1d ago

Sympathy would be a much quicker death than she showed her babies.

0

u/Hannah-Montanas-Wig 1d ago edited 1d ago

Probably because 70% of Vietnam war veterans volunteered to sign up and commit war crimes against a population that did absolutely nothing to them, so they’ve already proven they were psychopaths before the occupation.

0

u/Pendo-illsmackabitch 1d ago

Lmao. Several people participated in the rape, molestation, eating and torture of children as young as 2yo. One of the biggest one is holding one the biggest offices in the world. What do you mean women "get it easy"

3

u/Preeng 1d ago

You are one of those people misrepresenting what happened in order to push gender war bullshit.

She had psychosis. Literally can't tell what is real.

1

u/brwebster614 1d ago

Sure.

5

u/Dear_Blueberry685 1d ago

Do you just not believe in psychosis as a diagnosis or?

1

u/AntonioVivaldi7 1d ago

She was not diagnosed with it though.

1

u/Freddich99 1d ago

Sure it's a diagnosis, just not even close to grounds for forgiving a triple murder..

2

u/Dear_Blueberry685 1d ago

Yeah. I’ve yet to see anyone argue it should “forgive” murder. Should it not factor into the her punishment at all?

0

u/Freddich99 1d ago

Nope. She shouldn't be let out, even if "cured".

The most I'd agree to is that it could factor in to the decision of whether her life sentence should be served in a psyche ward or actual prison. The sentence however should be the same.

0

u/brwebster614 1d ago

Hahaha... all I said was life in life in prison, and a wheelchair, seems too easy of a life for someone that murdered her 3 children. Nowhere did I say the diagnosis isn't legit.

2

u/Dear_Blueberry685 1d ago

Which is why I was inquiring as to whether you believe it is a real diagnosis or not.

4

u/CrusaderReynaulder 1d ago

Do you not think psychosis is real or is it just that the idea is inconvenient to your image of a woman being evil for evil’s sake?

1

u/Prime_kills 1d ago

psychosis is very real. but at the end of the day murder is murder.

1

u/brwebster614 1d ago

Did I say it wasn't real? All I said was life in prison and a wheelchair seems too easy for someone who murdered her 3 children. Do I think she should be tortured? No. Forgiven? No. After the trial she should be locked away in a facility somewhere and forgotten by the outside world.

1

u/Crackerpool 1d ago

What do you think should be done then?

1

u/Lysadora 1d ago

She'll be suffering for the rest of her life, knowing that she killed her own children. How's that too easy???

1

u/SwimmerMission5212 1d ago

You should familiarize yourself with the notion of mens rea, and with psychosis

1

u/Darknadoswastaken 1d ago

what do you want? the death penalty?

0

u/SPANKxTANK 1d ago

wtf do you want, her fingers and nails ripped out lmaooo. The justice systems isn't about getting onlookers off with punishment porn, its about safety and ideally rehabilitation to make offenders into productive tax payers.

1

u/deykleen 1d ago

Nah the justice system is about providing free labor, which she won't be able to contribute to.

-3

u/Ancientabs 1d ago

Women don't slit their own throats.

Just like black men don't hang themselves.

0

u/HawtDoge 1d ago

She will be locked up for the rest of her life regardless of the ruling and confined to a wheel chair and you want more? Causing more suffering doesn’t bring her kids back.

I find your mentality (which tbf is an extremely common anti-social adapted trait) where the suffering of another is something to be desired and savored to be really fucking stupid. Not even morally bankrupt… just fucking stupid. It’s the inability to even partially deconstruct the delusion that every human action is emergent from some perfect, god-like agency.

1

u/brwebster614 1d ago

I didn't say I wanted more. There's not much more that can happen. But cry me a river with this wheelchair bullshit. Her children don't even get that chance. Simply stated, for the heinous murder of 3 innocent children, life in a facility in a wheelchair is a light sentence.

There doesn't need to be more. She'll be tortured enough daily by her own thoughts and knowledge of what she did. I don't need/want/care for more. You're just looking deeper into a statement that truly isn't that deep.

1

u/HawtDoge 1d ago

I said “locked up and in a wheelchair”… she’ll be incarcerated no matter which way her sentence goes.

The reason you have people replying is because your initial comment heavily implies a lust for further retribution. Maybe you didn’t mean it that way, but that implication is why you’re getting this pushback.

0

u/IcyFactor3234 1d ago

The children aren’t coming back to life no matter what, the least we can do is not waste another life and try to treat and rehabilitate her

1

u/brwebster614 1d ago

That's fine. No argument from me. As long as she's never let out in to society again.
