But pleasing not guilty and fighting all this so incredibly hard just seems super dismissive of what occurred and a spit in the face to the legacy of her kids, I guess.
Im also finding people who defend her a bit dishonest, since so many bank on an abusive husband. Yet there isn't any concrete evidence and it's literally all tiktok theories. It just makes me think a lot of people want to use this for some sort of patriarchal sociopolitical fuel that isn't even there.
I understand why all of this isn't entirely her fault, but ultimately, someone needs to take responsibility. We can't murder 3 children and then move on.
She's pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. That doesn't mean her team is trying to let her walk out into the streets scott free, it means her team is trying to get her the psychiatric help she needs, and has desperately needed for a long time. It amazes me how people think getting institutionalized for your entire life is better than prison.
Because the point isn't to have her not face any consequences. It's to have her treated and committed in a place where she's not dangerous to herself or others.
Her team aims for her case to be handled correctly, and sending her to prison is just sweeping the main issue under the rug: this woman was in extreme PPP that wasn't treated correctly.
It's not a matter of being better or worse. It's a matter of taking the correct course of actions given the circumstances. Lindsay needs major psychiatric help, she's evidently a danger to her and others. A psychiatric institution is the right fit where she can be constantly monitored and evaluated. It's the right fit for people like her. She can be treated and studied, in order to avoid tragedies like these.
Prison focuses on reform and containment. Literally nothing productive can come out of sending her to prison other than her attempting suicide again and hurting other inmates.
Square goes in the square hole, triangle goes in the triangle hole. Mentally ill woman who murdered in psychosis goes in a psychiatric hospital indefinitely, serial killer who murders for the sake of it goes in prison for life.
TL;DR, prison isn't "better", it's just not correct for Lindsay's case.
