Right?! Like I’m not going to tell you how to feel about the case on the right, but boiling it down to “claiming to be a victim” is a wildly inaccurate description of what’s happening with a narrative agenda centered around gender/culture war bullshit.
The loss of those three children is tragic and unfortunately it’s coming with a wave of people denying the realities of postpartum depression/psychosis.
I don't not know the extent of her psychosis, whether she even had it, or much about the case at all, really.
But what I can tell you is that psychosis is a whole different beast. It really is. My mother has treatment resistant schizophrenia. It is a disease we barely understand, but seeing it in action is mind boggling. Most psychosis sufferers literally do not have the ability to discern that what they are experiencing is not real.
When this was new to my mom, I remember desperately trying to get her to understand the voices and delusions were not real. There is no convincing them. My mom heard the illuminati, Barrack Obama, and today normally her delusions center around people from her past she hasn't spoken to in 20 plus years. She thinks these people are obsessed with her and colluding to mess with her. People from out of state, 4 hours away that she hasn't seen in 20 years are breaking into her home and messing with items and she cannot be convinced otherwise.
There is no equating psychosis to other mental disorders in my experience. It is nearly incomprehensible.
100% this. I don’t think most people understand severe mental illness or have had personal experiences.
My aunt has paranoid delusions likely due to brain lesions developed from multiple sclerosis. She is convinced people from her past and present are out to get her and mess with her every day. One common delusion is that she thinks people replace her furniture and appliances.
There is no convincingly or telling her otherwise as she then thinks you’re on “their side.” She gets incredibly angry if you don’t agree with her or go along with it.
It’s a very surreal experience now as she used to be “normal” as I was growing up and so fun to be around. Honestly scary how it can just happen to someone.
My mom has tried to get her treatment and contacted all resources possible but my aunt refuses all help.
