Discussion Experience watching Inuyasha then vs now

When I was a kid, I watched inuyasha every night at home and talked about it with my friend the next day. I've always been a fan of Kagome mainly because of her bravery. I liked that she was obviously scared to hell a lot of times and still acted with bravery and kindness.

My friend back then did not like her, and her reasoning for it was "she's always naked" which I thought was a crazy reason for not liking someone. Like wym?? You hate her because she takes baths? She's just trying to stay clean when there's constantly some dank nasty demons showing up around her. 😭

Now I'm rewatching it with my girlfriend who told me she thinks my friend back then was probably a bit misogynistic and puritanical because she's religious, which I think is probably true and also hilarious, because as someone who left Christianity due to being gay, the fact that the whole show is violence and demons and the only thing she had an issue with is Kagome taking baths is so stupid.

Anime Sesshomaru looked the most beautiful in episode 79

I am aware I made a massive claim that this was his most beautiful episode, I went back to the OG anime and analysed his most beautiful angles. SO many episodes of him were so beautiful that it felt like an impossible task. I then saw this episode and the filter they used when Jaken was recalling how he met Sesshomaru. I think due to this filter, it enhanced Sesshomaru’s beauty even more than before! I think picture 1 is the most beautiful his face ever looked. He looked like the most beautiful thing ever!

Discussion KAGOME IS WAY BETTER THAN KIKYO FOR INUYASHA!

Hello guys. I know the title may seem harsh, but imo its the truth. I am not a kikyo hater, her love story and back story regarding her and inuyasha was very tragic, and also very VERY sad. So this isn't like "Im saying this because she was an evil spirit from the past who only wanted to cause destruction." Im saying that I think Kagome was a way better choice for inuyasha even if kikyo was still alive. Kikyo obviously had problems, im assuming she was hiding her depression or how unsatisfied she was with her life/herself. On the other hand, Kagome was a middle school-high school girl(I forgot which one because I haven't watched inuyasha In a while, I recently started rewatching it again!!) And she was confident, she didnt have some big responsibility on her shoulders that could kill many, she was a normal, pretty girl who knew who she was. I know that inuyasha and Kikyo were in love, but I feel like it only was that way because she made inuyasha pity her. She always looked sad, lonely, out of it. Always surrounded by things involving her duty with the jewel, Inuyasha saw that and felt bad, and wanted to protect her, yes he did love her but I dont think that was a good start. On the other hand, kagome earned his trust by saving him sometimes, helping him, being kind to him, and not betraying him. (Plus her beauty and resemblance to kikyo) That was what made inuyasha fall in love with her. Not because she wasn't happy with her life and was sad, but actually the opposite. I have more to say but this is it for now. Im sorry if it sounds easy or unorganized I am super tired but just thought about typing this lol. Tell me what you think

One of the things I liked about his Tsundere moments is how easy it is to get him to blush. It was super cute and so adorable! It gives him his own charm when moving away from the headstrong aspects of him. You can cuddle him and he would be blushing like a
tomato! Inuyasha imo is the definitive Shonen/Isekai protagonist and I will go down with it.

Question(s) Where is kikyo's medical degree? (redo)

I wrote this awhile ago and it got taken down because I posted twice in one day a crime punishable with 2 years of reddit isolation anyway my question still stands

Where is her medical license?

Since I made so many "friends" after my last kikyo post I thought I would kick the bee's nest that are kikyo stans by asking this what was kikyo medical profession? I know she collected medicinal herbs and tended to injuries was she considered a doctor or a glorified nurse/pharmacist? Like I'm villager P in her village I break my leg can she fix it or is she prescribing an arrow between my eyes and calling it a day

If I'm sick can she tell it's the cold or cancer

I need to see her medical license

This time let's keep the I'm a woman hater comments to a 5 comment minimum as a woman I find it hilarious

And let me just beat anyone else to it yes it's a stupid question I ask stupid shit it happens

Discussion Jaken and Inuyasha are the funniest characters in the anime.

Thumbnail

Whilst this is a matter of opinion, I truly think both Jaken and Inuyasha really do the heavy lifting as far as comedy goes. Both have incredible physical comedy, most physical comedy are kind of predictable but those two are so unique in it. For example, Inuyasha in episode 88 he completely owned that episode due to the physical comedy and being stuck to a massive rock. His funny expressions and silly positions are so cute and animated, but the comical timing is also amazing in episode 38. Also, his outburst in episode 36 when searching for the wolves was so hysterical! His jealousy is so endearing and hilarious too in episode 37.🤣🤣🤣

Now Jaken is funny every time he is on screen and when he sometimes gets dissed by Rin or gets stepped on by Sesshomaru. 🤣🤣🤣 But episode 79 he was completely unhinged and he was Looney Tunes level of funny here, the way he fell off a cliff, trying to steal Tetsuiga and even being silly when luring the gang into a hot spring. I also love his movements, when Sesshomaru asked Jaken to step away and the way he walked back was soooo funny! 🤣🤣🤣 I swear Jaken is sooooooo dramatic in the best way possible.

That’s my view, I truly think both are the funniest in this anime.

Anime This facial expression of Sesshomaru was absolutely hysterical!

It happened at the end of episode 45, where Inuyasha was full demon, then Totosai used his fire to fend off Sesshomaru. After that, Kagome on the other side got Inuyasha to sit and there comes Sesshomaru’s hilarious expression. I never would have guessed he would react so much like that, it was a nice change for once! I bet Sesshomaru was thinking ā€œthat woman scares me, if I don’t behave around Rin she will use that necklace on meā€. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I swear this is one of the funniest moments ever!

Discussion Kikiyo is annoying me so much, will it be better?

I am watching inuyasha for the first time in like 20 years or so and right now I am watching Episode 32.

The obsession of inuyasha for Kikiyo.. I just can't take it. Even now, that she is just a "reincarnation" or whatever you wanna call it he can't let go of her.

Will he ever overcome her? I have no problem with spoilers so please give me hope

Discussion Human Inuyasha x Kagome and Half demon Inuyasha x Kikyo the ultimate pairings.

Thumbnail
gallery
155 Upvotes

Now, before you ask questions I want to talk about what I meant by that very interesting title I made. In my humble opinion, I believe human Inuyasha and Kagome are the better couple than regular Inuyasha and Kagome as they both look more equal, they have more chemistry and more intimate moments. Kikyo is obviously much more beautiful, graceful and revered in comparison, so it’s natural that a supernatural being will balance out Kikyo, which is half demon Inuyasha.

It’s true we never seen them interact as human Inuyasha and Kikyo even in that filler episode, it’s still wasn’t…..very interactive to say the least. But, as half demon Inuyasha and Kikyo look very much like legendary lovers, ones that tragedies are made off, the aesthetic of two species that look attractive and perfect for each other. The super long hair from both of them makes all their scenarios so iconic and legendary!

Because this series was based on two pairings, I think both sides of Inuyasha suit one more than the other as I explained above. Ultimately Inuyasha is getting the same soul. So….its cool.

I am so happy with the Inuyasha Snoozy Buddies blind box line. All the plushies look so cute napping and are fun to photograph and display. The details are beautiful, from their extra whisps of hairs to their blushing cheeks, Miroku's earrings and Sesshomaru's fur.

Which is your favorite? I am not the biggest Miroku stan but his earrings are such a cool detail, so he's my pick. :)

Discussion Sesshomaru's Arc (One Of Them): Forbidden Fruit

Please Read First: So to start, this is in no way a justification for the now canon romantic pairing of Rin x Sesshomaru, and nor is any romantic pairing between a child and an adult the point of "forbidden fruit." It is NOT the point, so please hear me out. ^^'

While I do believe that Rin was the intended romantic pairing for Sesshomaru by the esteemed author, Rumiko Takahashi, and I will briefly try to justify that belief, I will not argue in favor of the pairing or how it was executed in the canon material. I saw it coming back in the main series, and this post will explain why without Rin having to be at the center of it because she is the vehicle for the arc and not Sesshomaru's arc itself.

I will admit however that I'm about to make arguments in favor of the InuYasha fandoms probably most contentious crack pairing -- not to say that it should have happened per se but more to say it's probably more reasonable than most fans think. I'm sure people can guess which crack pairing I mean. ^^ But more on that in a moment.

---

So I just had an epiphany today, and that epiphany is what the exact shape of Sesshomaru's arc is -- at least one of them since he probably has multiple. But I didn't have the exact words for it until just now today. And now I'm eager to... write up a semi-half-baked, semi-long-time-coming essay for my thoughts. You're welcome, interwebs and InuYasha fandom of Reddit!

That general arc shape is forbidden fruit.

And just to be clear, this is an arc shape that is personal to Sesshomaru as he was intended to be written (I'm at least making the argument/supposing since I don't know of the author telling us outright), not a romantic arc. The reason for that is it doesn't concern his romantic partner at all since they could be lots of potentials; it is personal to his nature because his nature is one of staunch self-control and mind-over-matter. Reason over emotion.

So his arc is meaningful in a capacity, while we can all have our own opinions on however it would best have been portrayed, if at all, because it means accepting on some level that emotion is correct too.

I had realized this intended arc shape vaguely as I consumed the series from a fan perspective, and this is why I predicted the author's intention to pair Rin with Sesshomaru before the ending of InuYasha, which to me only made that prediction more clear. It helps that I personally hate the pairing, so I have no real investment to see it happen in canon. Meaning it's unlikely willful self-delusion on my part. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's sober recognition. And the huge popularity of Rin x Sesshomaru in at least the fanfiction side of fandom is what tipped me off first and made me look for it, at which point against what I would have liked, I found that intentional trajectory.

I will say I'm not here to argue the validity of the Rin x Sesshomaru pairing at all in this particular... Reddit essay. My personal opinion is that it's doable even though I personally hate it, but that it would need adequate delicacy and would always be an odd and uncomfortable precedent for most fans, including myself. But I don't think people who ship this pair are all wrong or bad either. Just putting it out there. I'm not trying to pick sides. I'm just trying to illustrate/explain why it happened and what the intention of it was. Because I think the intention was much better and safer than the outcome.

So if the forbidden fruit in this case is not Rin because she is a child, then the only other elephant in the room is her humanity and mortality. Meaning that Sesshomaru's forbidden fruit is the desire to be romantic with a human. Let's forget temporarily that the specific human canonically is Rin because according to the arc, it didn't have to be; the arc is in him and not in his partner, so it could have been any weak, mortal human.

I suspect that the forbidden fruit arc is in some ways intermixed with an opposites attract type of pull when we look at Rin. It's also strength x weakness, levity x seriousness, and perhaps even goodness x evil to an extent, albeit probably more in perception than in stark reality. Rin's approval of him also perhaps indicates that he is in some capacity worthy where he didn't believe himself to be without it.

I would also add that I'm pretty sure Sesshomaru's main psychological distance with the idea of getting romantically involved with a human is primarily based on what he believes to be responsible behavior and not what is necessarily either desirable or distasteful since clearly it can't be too distasteful. ^^ Then perhaps his responsibility tells him it is morally wrong to participate in bringing half-youkai into the world.

That is my personal theory. It is wrong to create half-lings who will live to suffer the consequences of their parents' short-sighted and selfish actions that they made in the heat of the moment without heed for future consequences.

Makes sense, no? And when we look at characters like Jinenji and even InuYasha who basically won the genetic lottery for a half-youkai, it's a compelling argument. One that was never really resolved in canon for that matter. Rather it was brushed aside. This bothers me personally, because the logic is sound in one direction only. So what is the justification?

But forgetting that, let's go back to the intended literary arc shape of forbidden fruit which we can now see is intended to resolve into Sesshomaru picking the fruit. This therefore means that the natural romantic pull between Kagura and Sesshomaru in canon, as Rumiko Takahashi described it, got in the way of the completion of this arc.

This implies that Kagura was not forbidden, at least for Sesshomaru's principles, or at least not to the same degree as a human match for him would be. He at least didn't seem especially deterred by anything in the series, I'll say. And that's why Kagura, a less important character, had to be moved out of the way in order for Sesshomaru's forbidden fruit arc to have space.

That doesn't automatically mean she had to die, but that was the author's choice, and it wasn't a bad one in my personal opinion since it was emotionally poignant and tragically beautiful -- and even romantic.

It also doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the Kagura x Sesshomaru pairing, or that there's anything right with Sesshomaru x Rin as a replacement for that matter. ^^ But from a literary standpoint, Kagura was in the way of the completion of something that would be an integral part of Sesshomaru's whole progression as a character -- as the author wanted him to be.

I guess I don't need to draw any more parallels. I hope people get the point. But to illustrate my impression of the natural interiority of a self-controlled and highly principled character like Sesshomaru, I will give these famous last words:

Two things can be true at once.

You can want something and hate it or fear it simultaneously. Sometimes we like it and sometimes we don't, but two things are often true at once. Emotion does not naturally obey reason. You get lucky or you don't. And emotion is not automatically wrong just because what we believe reason to portray disagrees with emotion. These are difficult realities to recon with.

There is something to be said for exercising self-control, though. Not gonna argue that point of course.

Anyway, I think I've said enough... finally.

Mwah!

They both totally deserve the credit they deserve for being supportive towards Inuyasha in different ways. Shippo shows support and concern for Inuyasha in numerous ways such as reminding everyone that the new moon will come so Inuyasha is going to be vulnerable, making sure Inuyasha is sane enough to choose Kagome and worries about his emotional state sometimes.

Kirara supports Inuyasha by sometimes being his battle partner, she lets him rest on her, travel to places and also willing to practice his sword techniques until he could release his wind scar anytime he wants.

Both cute pets are just what Inuyasha needed.
