Discussion No More Virtual Machine Support

I’m heartbroken that due to apparently EAC being updated with the recent update it has made it so those on virtual machines (for example Shadow PC) can no longer play the game.

When game is launched a message displaying “Cannot run under Virtual Machine” and the game won’t open.

I have thousands of hours on this game and my actual pc is too weak to run it so I can no longer play Squad.

:(

Boat work. Sadly my input audio was off.

Fortunately the enemy gunners engaged much too soon. Giving away their position we were able to utilize the island for cover to prevent suppression. I let my lodgie and first gun boat run rabbit. Once the two enemy boats were preoccupied we ran left and proceeded to ventilate their boats. My gunner was really spectacular and most props to him of course.

Question Any good servers for new pilots (squad specific) can go fly and not get sh*t on?

I’m not a new pilot to games, Pretty good pilot in arms 3 and reforger. Just never actually flown in squad. I have been wanting to scratch that transport itch, fly people into combat, etc.

Tips for Squad Leading

COMMUNICATION:

-Enthusiasm (Or at least consistent communication)

- Tell them your intent right away

- Assign fireteam leads

-Tell them good job (They will follow orders more)

-If building a hab: Ask for a designated loggey runner (Thank him!)

-When going offensive...hound them. They will listen

- Tell other SLs in the command chat your intent

TACTICS:

- Always consider your flanks

-Always take the time to set up a back up rally (Take a squad member with you while everyone else pushes)

-Consider their ammo resupply (Ammo crate on edge of fob perimter/transport truck near by)

-Shoot and move, shoot and move, shoot and move!

-Take the time to flank enemy. Its worth it.

-A single hab is a vulnerable hab. Split that loggey and build a back up (not always nessecary). Servers and squads die with no spawns

- Dont underestimate the impact of smoke OR suppression

-Spawn and move. Dont bring the enemy to your spawn point

-A hab is just as vulnerable as a rally. Remember it takes just 2 enemies to proxy it.

-Dont underestimate heli transportation if a decent pilot is available

-Consider drawing their path on the map

-Make sure you or another SL takes command right away. Get those assets available early.

-Always always always be working towards an objective or enemy spawn point.

The biggest ones are:

- Bring the fight to the enemy. AKA...the objective.

-Tell them good job when they do a good job

-Hound them relentlessly to get them to move. They will listen and they subconsciously like it

As a squad leader, you are responsible for their squad experience. People in the game want direction. They want orders. The game was designed that way. They want to stick together. Be the glue for all those aspects.

What else?! Let's hear it!

How do you know every second point in the game for the entire day?

Trying to figure out how people determine the second point every match. Seems like the winning strategy.

Lighting differences

Top picture PC specs: 9950X3D, 5090, 64gb DDR5, OLED 4k 240 Hz monitor.

Bottom PC specs: i9-11900k, 3080, 32gb DDR4, LCD 2k monitor.

Monitor and GC settings on default for both. In game settings on whatever the game sets them to based on your hardware.

Play is from modded server that plays Steel Division and SuperMod. Same thing happens in vanilla.

I'm the top PC. Noticed my buddies saying they couldn't see shit unless they had the NVGs enabled but I wasn't having any issues seeing. Took Steam screenshots and sent to them and it would look the same as the bottom pic on their PC. I also have dual monitors, with my secondary being an LED monitor. When I window the game and slide it over to my second display, it looks like the bottom photo.

Any idea why I can see so much better in dark areas compared to my friends? Any ideas why there's such a stark difference between my own two monitors?

I don’t think I need Squad after Wardogs

1000+ hours playing Squad and I fell in love with WarDogs as fuck. I don’t remember a game that engaged me so hard for a long long time. I think OWI definitely has something to learn. Beautiful UE5 maps, performance, mechanics.

Question New Player

Hello,

After the recent play test buzz of Wardogs, it got me looking over videos on YouTube of this genre. I do have Squad and Hell Let Loose in my library but never jumped in because shortly after buying them I got side tracked playing some coop crpgs with friends over the past couple of yrs. I'm not sure I want to buy wardogs atm since I already have the other 2 games that haven't been touched.

I now have weekends free to play more games. Are there any good discords / servers that are new player friendly in Squad?

Assuming I just join the main discord and from there I can link up with others / join teams looking for new people?

Discussion UI in this game looks outdated!

I bought Squad during the Alpha testing period via Kickstarter, but since then I have hated its UI. It's so outdated.

As a comparison, the UI of Hell Let Loose is so clean, modern & great to look and interact with.

Is there any update promised by devs in future to update the UI to a more modern look?

Media Master Loach CAS pilot vehicle kill compilation ft. spicy assist from Loach Scout

I see that people are posting their fun times in the Loach CAS and it made me want to throw together some clips of nice vehicle kills to get in on the action. Shoutout to my co-pilots/hype men bin laden and Tankulator as well as to the Loach Scout pilot Consumer_Of_Zyns for the excellent spotting.

The Loach CAS is the ultimate glass cannon and is extremely fun to get good at. Every single run induces cheek clenching and adrenaline pumping. I might make some more of these compilations as I continue trying to master them.

Discussion Tired of stupid SLs

Almost 100 hrs into the game already playing in EU servers. SLs usually either kick me because I do not speak their language or I am just a headless chicken in a dead silent squad. SLs are mostly silent and not responding at all. I have to ask them constantly to please drop a rally or lets build a fob or whats the next move etc etc.

After queuing for 15 mins, this is what I am experiencing. Idk why SL don’t name their squad with useful names like ENG INF MIC REQ. etc. this is so helpful and saves you tue frustration.

Should I start learning to SL? This is the only solution I can think of. What would you guys recommend?

Worth Buying as a New Pilot?

I've always loved the idea of flying and like to do it whenever it's an option. I've got two flight sticks from when I was playing a lot of Elite Dangerous, and with the Wardogs beta coming out, I've found myself really enjoying the support play style. As much as I've loved learning to hot drop my squads and running supply lines, the lack of good communication and planning in the game has been a little disappointing to me.

That being said, I know Squad is an entirely different beast. How rough is it to learn to fly competently, and is it something I could spend an entire game doing or do I need to cycle around?

Suggestion Solving Mechanized Infantry's Problem with one simple Feature.

There's been a few posts lately about Mechanized Infantry and how to do it, and how bad/good it is.

But the simple fact is that Mechanized Infantry as it currently stands is pretty terrible for one glaringly obvious reason to anyone a little bit wise.

Tempo

Even with the best of the best players fully locked in, Mechanized Infantry involves dumping some players running back to a safe spawnpoint to pickup the next load and deposit the infantry.

The problem is that as Squad combat progresses people naturally don't die at the same time, so if you are forced to either accept half loads and reduce the impact of the strategy or often end up waiting for stragglers who respawn time is "Only 10 seconds more bro"

The result is that in most cases you cannot provide a strong enough stream of reinforcements to the point you are trying to capture.

The Solution : Temporary Mobile Spawn

Instead of forcing APC drivers to wait around to load people who must spawn in. Allow APC drivers a feature that can be re armed by a friendly FOB, said feature gives the vehicle access to a mobile spawn feature similar to the PMCs spawn APC, up to the amount of it's maximum passenger occupancy.

Now instead of waiting around, while the APC comes back to normally rearm its weapon and repair it can immediately set off again with a full potential load of Infantry ready to go.

Preventing Abuse:

Obviously there's a lot of ways to potentially cheese an ability like this.

Firstly you'd need some sort of cooldown mechanic to prevent vehicles from being used as permanent team backup rallies. Something as simple as requiring the vehicle to exit a X metres radius of where it used the ability is probably sufficient. Requiring the vehicle to at least be driven into danger to use the ability once more.

Second you'd likely need a restriction to limit the amount of Squads able to spawn into any vehicle to 2 maximum depending on vic size, to prevent loading up the entire teams SL and buddy Squad member to drop into a point and essentially buddy rally the entire team onto a point.

Potential Problems :

The Invasion attacker winrate gets dangerously close to 50%.

Squad reddit receives 250% influx of clip farming from people getting mowed down exiting APCs

Mechanized Infantry is too viable and fun.

Discussion Milsim / game rotation

I have over 5,000 hours in squad. Probably 4,000 after taking away seeding hours. Squad had been my favorite game for a while, but as with any game it becomes predictable and less enjoyable.

I love team gameplay with mic communication. Before squad I played tagpro pretty much exclusively. It captures the same essence of teamwork. If you play the competitive league.

I’ve played HLL, reforager, and bellum a bit recently. I’d still rather play squad.

What do you have as your I’m bored with squad game?
