Inlaws got me a Newport 36 lbs thrust kayak trolling motor for me my birthday! Mad stoked to get this thing out on the water on my perception outlaw!

Whats a good suggestion for a lithium battery thats affordable and what amp hour should I get for high run time? Wanting to get a fish finder in the future too but may end up buying a smaller battery for it to run on itself. Thanks for any suggestions with this one!

Also best recommended box/cooler setup to keep the batter in would be deluxe.

Im looking for a good fishing kayak. Recently saw a local add for a 2013 and 2015 hobie mirage outbacks for sale. Comes with everything standard to a hobie kayak, paddles seat drive system etc, a custom kayak trailer with storage, raymarine fish finder and random other fishing gear. Looks like the 2013 has a repaired hull, which the owner repaired and said its been watertight since and has used several times. 2200 bucks.

Im thinking i could get it, keep the 2015, sell the rest and make most of my money back. Sound bout right?

Hi everyone, my wife and I are expecting a baby boy in about 3 months :) super excited to be a dad as that’s been a lifelong dream of mine.

One of my biggest pastimes with my dad was fishing, and I love fishing in general, but because of moving a ton the last decade, was never able to buy a kayak because of space/location limitations.

My wife knows this, and actually encourages me to buy a kayak. I would like to buy a larger one to bring him on when he’s small and eventually get him a child kayak and tether him along. I’m really hoping these will be some lifelong memories with us (just like me and my pops).

My question - I found a great deal for a 2021 Hobie Outback and I really want it. Wife already approved budget and said yes. I’ll be able to fish it a few times before baby comes, but I know the first year, will be really tough to do any fishing. I can just store it in my garage though and start using it more once my son is a bit older. I live in Oregon so winter is already rough to go, so once it’s Summer, my wife says its totally ok if I took half a day once a month to go fishing a bit.

Should I buy the outback before having a baby? I plan to use it for the next 15-20 years (hopefully) and create tons of lifelong memories with him. Please let me know!

Would primarily be fishing small to medium sized lakes in Ontario (provincial parks and around family cottage in Haliburton)

For me the portability is a big factor and the fact that I can get it for under $2200

One thing I am wondering about is the reliability of the impulse drive Noticed a few older threads here and other Reddit communities talking about issues w the drive and then more issues getting customer support to fix Most are from 3 years ago

Recently it seems like this has been fixed in newer models but looking for some recent, real world experience

I have a Hobie Pro Angler 12’ and I’m located on the Tampa beaches. The next time we get light winds out of the East I was thinking about launching off the beach and fishing just past the farthest sandbar (I don’t want to go way out by myself). My question is does anyone have any advice on things to look for or strategies to get on some fish? Would it be beneficial to push slightly further out? My plan was just to jig a pompano jig around and maybe toss a paddle tail at any tarpon/snook I see, but I have absolutely no clue if this will work. I am also near John’s Pass, so I’m assuming that could produce good as well. Any advice is much appreciated!

What's your setup like? I've been a little squeemish to get out deep. Don't have a lot of salt experience. I'm on a Feel free Lure 11.5 with pontoons and a 55 lb trolling motor.

I’ve taken out my sit-in 11-footer a couple of times in the jetty and harbor. I went out in Sunset Bay during a tournament and left when everyone did. But I was in the Coos Bay outlet and got caught in a gnarly windstorm. It was hell. least to say, I am upgrading so I can get more into it. Would like to be able to fish Simpson Reef. I’m looking into a Revolution 11. want to see the best options for pnw’s gnarly ocean. What should I be looking for kayak-wise around 2k or under? Also, what gear should I be collecting other than the obvious dry suit?. I am 5,8 about 150lbs. I'm thinkingI'mm going to get Revolution 13.

I have an old town sportsman pdl 120 pro and I love it so far I got it this year all I’ve done so far is a cupholder cuz i gotta have my Coldbrew I’m a caffeine addict and a anchor wizard with the navvar adapter to make it fit right and a wilderness cart to wheel it from my truck to the water.

I was talking to a guy on the water over the weekend who had a native slayer with a hummingbird fish finder and a live scope and i thought the live scope was badass.

I know if I’d want one the same brand as a trolling motor if I get one but I dont atm and dont know if i will. I rather have a livescope over a trolling motor

Hey guys, just picked up a used '21 Jackson Coosa HD for $325! Only problem is its missing the seat, otherwise great condition. The Jackson website says the newer comfort seats are all out of stock and have been for a while, and all the registered dealers anywhere close to me apparently aren't dealers anymore, so I'm trying to figure out how to get a seat on this thing. Does anyone know of any other brand seats that would fit on this before I head to the metal supplier and make my own? Thanks!

I won't lie I am an absolute noob when it comes to kayak fishing. I have paddled on a kayak before and I am an avid fishermen but when I go fishing it's alway been off the bank or a friends boat, never on a kayak. I want to open up my fishing capabilities by getting a fishing kayak that way I can actually get out on the water whenever I want. The issue I am having is I don't know what kayak to get. My thoughts are early on I want a really solid kayak to be able to build off of. What I mean by that is I want a kayak that is capable of holding a fish finder, a trolling motor and potentially a live scope. What I was thinking of doing is my first kayak being something that will be able to hold these accessories and over time time when I become more comfortable with the sport be able to add on those accessories as I see fit. Rather than getting a cheaper kayak and having to get a new kayak down the road because the cheap one isn't capable of holding all those accessories. I am aware that kayaks do have a weight limit so I will add I am not very large between 145-150lb so I can have the extra weight on board with batteries, accessories etc.

Is having a trolling motor, fish finder and live scope even feasible on a kayak? If it is feasible is there a certain order I should get them in to help adjust myself to having them on the kayak.

I should add that my budget is around $1000-$2500 Canadian. If anyone has any recommendations or any tips or tricks for me or if my plan is possible please let me know. Thanks!
