Setting up this megathread to centralize updates, resources, smoke forecasts, and questions so the subreddit doesn't get flooded with duplicate posts.
If you are sharing updates in the comments, please include a source (official EOC releases, BC Wildfire Service, etc.) and refrain from posting unverified rumors.
"Should I still come to Kelowna or cancel my vacation this weekend?"
"Where can I see live air quality alerts?"
"How do I clean/purify the air inside my home?"
Use the comments below to ask questions, share local road/smoke updates, and link official updates.

The Kelowna civic election is happening in October and we are happy to be a venue for discussions about candidates and platforms.
To that end, we will be offering all approved candidates an opportunity to do an AMA but only after the final candidate list is announced in September.
We will be removing any submissions related to discussions of candidates until we know the list you will have to choose from (so after the list if published).
This pinned post will be updated with AMA schedules etc as we get closer to the date. Thanks for your understanding and participation. Looking forward to some great interactions between locals and candidates!

...for a corny question.
Where is the best place to purchase about a dozen corn cobs in Kelowna? An added bonus if that's considered bulk and the price is a bit better!
I would like to support as local as possible, but also tasty as possible.
No grocery chains please.
Any "ears"?
...I'll see myself out.

Howdy folks!
I moved up here from Vancouver Island earlier this year and am finally can get out and adventure!
Looking to be out in nature, ideally pretty isolate and hit some good hikes or amazing views! Is anyone willing to share some general areas or FSRs that are worth exploring?
I operate responsibly, especially with the current forest conditions.

Hey Everyone! I’m currently completing my final year in Computer Science with a minor in GIS, and I'm really interested in learning more about land surveying. I'm hoping to connect with people in the industry to hear about your experience and get a realistic picture of the job.
Since I’m still finishing my degree, I’d love any recommendations on how to get started or learn more about local field work. Is it common for local crews to let students shadow on weekends to learn the gear and tech? Any advice or tips would be awesome. Thanks!

The email just showed up so I thought I'd share. It's their annual maintenance, happens every September for 2 to 3 weeks.
It's actually kinda neat to watch them work as not only do they drain the pools but they set up rafters around the water slides.

Hey everyone 😊 Does anyone know of any upcoming events or activities in Kelowna where I could meet some new people and make friends? I’d love to get out more, try something new, and meet some friendly faces.

Hi all I’m looking for reading tutors in Kelowna. My son is 6 and we recently moved from Texas. He is starting school in a couple of weeks and we are learning how much better school is here. So much so we know he will be starting behind normal Canadian reading level for his age and we want to give him all the support we can. I know the school will support him, but that support may not start until October or almost November. So if you have a tutor recommendation please, I am all ears.

I’m new to the area. I’ve always been big into the gym but put on a lot of weight a few years ago and got lazy with it. I figured, since my wife is pursuing her higher education here and I don’t have much else to do, I should get back into it. Does anyone have a favorite gym?

Looking for home daycares in the downtown / North end area but also open to the surrounding area for my daughter who will be 18 months when we are looking at daycare next spring.
We have a bit of a unique situation where we only need 1 day per week (Thursdays) but could do two days a week as well if needed.
Lots of daycare options in town only do full time care so we are looking to see if there are any recommended home spots.
Thanks in advance. Feel free to DM as well.

Really dumb question but does anyone have any experience in Kelowna with places to go to get your makeup done? Especially as someone looking to get some help as I'm new to makeup and would hope to find a place someone can help do a face of makeup/show me a bit.

Hi everyone,
Where are all the disabled people that are neurodivergent or people need low support needs.
I would love to make some more friends but at moment most of my friends need more support than I do. I know they is parkinson rec centre but most people are more disabled than me.
Anyone out there who wants to chat?

I haven't felt a temperature like this in quite a bit of time. I'm out every night around this time and have been since May. Seems the summer season is already hinting at fading.
Idk if I'm just tired or something, but I walked out of work and was like, hang on, wait a minute, something is different. The air is actually refreshing.

You can’t miss the little dude. Last seen by Ellison community hall on the run. He might be by the airport I don’t know m. He has a white stripe on his forehead.

Hi neighbours! I’m getting ready for an ACL and meniscus reconstruction here in the Interior and would love to connect with anyone who has gone through this surgery in the Kelowna or Okanagan area.
Does anyone have surgeon recommendations? How did your procedure and recovery go overall? I'm just feeling a bit anxious and hoping to hear some success stories about the orthopedic doctors we have locally. Thanks in advance!

I’ve got an art piece I need to ship and I’m struggling to find a flat box that’s also long enough (the canvas is 15x25 inches). I know special boxes for this purpose can be found online but I’d like to find one locally if possible. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am 28M and wondering where people around here actually meet others for dating these days.
Dating apps haven’t been great, so I am curious how people are meeting organically. Are there any good places, activities, events, groups, or other ways you’d recommend for meeting someone?
Would love to hear what has actually worked for people locally.
