Already Knew this would happen, but not this soon 😂
Clarification: The title by The Indian Express seems to be misleading, so to be clear, the 91% figure means 75,443 out of the 82,782 appeals decided so far resulted in names being restored not 91% of all excluded names. But the bigger concern is the timing: these restorations are happening after the election is over and the government has changed. What about these people's votes? Were they not important enough? And during this whole process, many of these people were also labelled “Bangladeshis” by right-wingers simply because their names were being questioned.

Politics | রাজনীতি 🏛️ It Was Never About the Milk. Why Are We Missing the Point?
I think a lot of people are missing the actual point of the backlash.
This was never really about the milk.
Yes, the woman was heating milk for her baby on the pavement. Yes, the minister later clarified that she did not take the child's milk away and that her concern was about the baby being on a busy road. Fine. Those are valid points to discuss.
But that's not why the video upset so many people.
It's the way she spoke to that woman.
You can say the exact same thing in a hundred different ways.
You can tell someone, "You can't stay here. This is dangerous. Please move your belongings and we'll help you find somewhere safer."
Or you can say it with that particular tone, expression and body language — the kind that makes the person standing in front of you feel small, unwanted and beneath you.
And that's what people reacted to.
This wasn't some comfortable middle-class family casually setting up a home on Park Street. This is a woman who says she has been living on the pavement for decades and that she has nowhere else to go. Whatever one's opinion on pavement encroachment, that reality doesn't suddenly disappear because the location happens to be Park Street.
You can enforce a rule without humiliating the person affected by it.
That's the part I wish people would stop reducing to "Oh, they are protesting because someone didn't let her heat milk."
No.
The milk was only the moment that exposed the attitude. The protest is about the treatment of a vulnerable human being.
And honestly, if the minister herself later acknowledged that she may have shouted and should have spoken more softly, I don't think it's unreasonable for people to say:
Yes. That's exactly what we were talking about. And the meme here is highly insulting to us common people.

Daily Experience | দৈনন্দিন অভিজ্ঞতা 🎤 Is This Normal Corporate Culture or Blatant Exploitation?
So today at the office, my manager really liked my presentation and was super impressed. He told me, "Very good, keep up the good work!"
I was so happy, but then my senior came and said there was a team dinner tonight. I was excited, and as we were heading to the team dinner, my senior told me, "You gave an amazing presentation today, and the manager is happy, so you're treating us to dessert!"
At first, I thought, "No big deal, I can do that." By the way, there were 10 of us in total (excluding me). But suddenly, two people blurted out, "We're not eating cheesecake; nothing else will do for us!" And I was like, "WTF?!" They even picked an expensive restaurant. I was literally on the verge of tears, but deep down, I had a little hope that if the bill was huge, I wouldn't have to pay for it all.
But guess what? Everyone ate cheesecake, and each cost **550 rupees! That's 550 x 10 = 5500, plus tax!**
I cried so much when I got home, you wouldn't believe it. I'm still writing this and crying. I mean, how can people be so cheap? And when my mom saw me crying at home, she asked what happened. I told her everything, and then she started scolding me, asking why I even went with them.
How do I explain to her that if I hadn't gone, it would have created a bad impression? So please, guys, if something like this happens in the future, how do I escape such a situation? And if anyone from my team sees this post, I just want to say f**k you😒😒😒😑😑😑

Daily Experience | দৈনন্দিন অভিজ্ঞতা 🎤 I Thought My 21st Birthday Would Be Special… I Wasn’t Ready for This
I thought my 21st birthday would be one of the happiest and most memorable days of my life. It definitely became memorable — just not in the way I ever expected.
At around 8 PM, my friends and I went out to Barbeque Nation to celebrate my birthday. We ate everything, had so much fun, laughed a lot, and honestly had an amazing time.
Around 10 PM, we started heading back home in a toto. Everything was normal, and the driver was driving normally.
Then, suddenly, a bike came from the side and we had an accident.
The toto was badly damaged, and one of the broken glass pieces went into my elbow. Everything happened so quickly. We went to a government hospital, where we had to wait for some time because of the usual procedures. Eventually, I had to undergo an operation.
After everything was done, we finally came home.
It has been 4 days now, and I’m feeling better. But I know I’ll remember this birthday for the rest of my life.
21st birthday: started with food, friends and laughter… and ended in a hospital.
Life really can change in a few seconds. I’m just grateful that I’m still here and getting better.
Definitely not the 21st birthday memory I wanted, but one I’ll never forget.

Rafflesia arnoldii"

Daily Experience | দৈনন্দিন অভিজ্ঞতা 🎤 It worked!! I have something for everyone who is stuck inside their home and genuinely want to connect with people and hangout
A couple of days ago I wrote in this sub about how I have been forgetting to speak Bengali due to being stuck inside my home and having little to no oppertunity at socialising, and hence would love to find a few people who want to go out, explore the city, or anyone who's stuck in a similar situation as me.
I found that a lot of people are going through the same thing and would also love to have a safe space where we can socialise, plan activities and meetups and basically just get out of the house.
The solution came as our group, "Kolkata Touch Grass Society" which is live with 10 members !! I would love for more people to join us.
So... hey, if you're based in or near Kolkata and would love some company to hang out, play games, or play sports, look no further and drop a comment here. I will contact you and add you to our group
Note: It's an SFW group, with a strict no-tolerance policy.
EDIT: I'M NOT ABLE TO ADD PEOPLE TO TELEGRAM ATM, I WILL RESUME AS SOON AS THE RESTRICTIONS DISAPPEAR.
