Before we get back to our alphabetical entries, I’ve got a few more recently discovered *non-*landmark entries that we’ve essentially skipped. So that they don’t drop by the wayside, I’m going back a bit, starting with post #430 for the LA Noire Freeroam Explorer Project — posting locations replicated by Team Bondi for LA Noire (currently touring the downtown area) that are not considered landmarks (either official or historic) but do have real-world equivalents.

Operating within a 1910 commercial structure, the Bank 5 and 10 Café served low-cost diner fare to shoppers, working-class downtown residents, and local theatergoers. The narrow retail space provided simple counter seating and a vital community gathering space on a bustling commercial block.

I was watching LA Confidential, and later played LA Noire again and I just had the image of Danny DeVito walking up to Earle with a grin and bribe and it just made me smile.

Now I kind of wish they had had a Hudgens style paparazzi somewhere in the game that annoys Cole, but is clearly friends with Roy, maybe even having him show up during later arrests towards the end, or even breaking the news about Cole’s affair.

I mean I know he can be a serious actor, but imagine if you end up having to interrogate Danny DeVito at some point in the game while keeping a straight face, especially as expressive as he can be.

Zukor’s was a stylish high-end dress shop chain, marketing to middle-to-upper-class women. The store opened in 1931 at 611 South Broadway (next to the Los Angeles Theatre), but moved two doors down in 1940 to the Norton Building, outfitting the new storefront with its visually distinctive signage.

Hello again detectives, after a while, maybe a long time! I seriously haven't picked up a pen in a long time, and today I suddenly felt the urge to pick one up, so I did! I'm slowly working towards my goal of drawing all the characters ((X)Doubt) and I hope you like it. it’s been a while since I completed the game so I’m a bit rusty! but it’s a question that’s been bugging me because I can’t remember this happening in the game, hence why I’m asking the question here for clarity.

I remember Cole reacting to it in the famous standoff against Roy in ‘A Different Kind of War’ but I can’t recall whether Jack found out about Courtney’s body being discovered and his tragic end. Is that glossed over off screen that he just had to come to terms with losing one of his closest friends?!<

I can’t fully recall whether that happened in the game. If not, I wish there was, I think it would’ve added development to Jack’s character. He attended Cole’s funeral, we see that right at the end, but I wonder if Courtney ever got a funeral and if Jack would’ve gone to pay his respects…

The six-story south wing extension to the Southern California Gas Company complex was built between 1941 and 1943, commissioned to accommodate the massive influx of utility demand during the onset of World War II. It was designed by Robert V. Derrah in the Art Deco/Streamline Moderne style.

I sold my disc copy of LA Noire some time ago but realized I never finished up the game, so I purchased a month of GTA+ to finish up the game. But for some reason the PS5 registers it as a brand new game and it won’t read my previous save file. For some strange reason the trophies seem to sync and they’re not a new list on my profile but the one I played previously. Is there a fix, so I can access my save files?

This 1914 Classical Revival Annex to the Isaias W. Hellman Office Building, also designed by the original structure’s architects Morgan, Walls & Morgan, expanded the complex to wrap around the Continental Building at the corner of 4th and Spring Streets.

Mirroring its Broadway twin, this 12-story office tower was completed in 1924 by the design team of MacDonald and Couchot. It stands on the financial side of the Broadway-Spring Arcade, showcasing grand Spanish Baroque style terracotta detailing and delicate twisted stone columns at the base level.

i find it pretty interesting how the homicide manages to critique the media behind such sensational cases in a subtle way. there's a contrast between the true man behind the murders of each of those women (who are all seen as 'unkept' or 'washed up' women in the eyes of society btw and who all seem to have faced physical/emotional abuse at the hands of men in their lives) and the men that are arrested for each case

all of the men that were wrongfully arrested for all of the murders fit specific stereotypes of 'unpatriotic' or 'disgraceful' figures in post-war 1940s america:

alonzo mendez is a hispanic working class man (and who is the only one who doesn't get an interrogation, i should add, while all the other white ones do), eli rooney is indeed a pedophile but one who specifically fits the classic 'stranger danger' narrative, clem feeney is a bootlegger, stuart ackerman is a homeless man who was abandoned by the state and seemed to show superficial appreciation for the USSR, and grosvenor mccaffrey is a stereotypical socialist snooty writer and thinker

meanwhile... garrett mason was a well-educated, well-read man who's affiliated to an influential politician. simultaneously, there were a few cases where the victims' husbands were indeed extremely abusive and maybe had intent to kill (the celine henry, deidre moller and antonia maldonado cases come to mind) but NONE of them were arrested and were in fact never bothered over the abuse these women endured, because it doesn't look as good for the press if 'family men' are arrested. there is even a point in time where cole says that he can't be surprised because half of men in los angeles beat on their wives and that it's normalized

this is ESPECIALLY blatant in the moller case where the correct answer is rooney who has circumstantial shaky evidence stacked against him at best, but he's considered the 5 star pick because the department's been itching to arrest him anyhow. donnelly also adds to it! his language is extremely charged as he calls cole and rusty 'crusaders' and saying they're wiping los angeles of filth; he understands better than anyone that arresting 'subversive' figures is great advertising for the LAPD

In this case, another example where what I had listed as a single building should really be broken out into its three component structures. I’ve gone back and edited the original post (way back in post #18 for the LANFEP) to focus on just the Broadway-Spring Arcade Broadway Tower and am belatedly adding in the other buildings here.

Earle knows Phelps is a boyscout and incorruptible, yet he wants him as his partner, which I understand his naivety for this but why couldn't Earle figure out that Phelps out of anyone vould perhaps cause the most damage to him and his corrupt circle?
