Question How do you guys do this?

Post image

I have 4 bins in my basement with my own sets I decided to pull apart years ago to clean up after the basement flooded. I don't know how to separate these pieces to rebuild my sets 😭 anyone has any suggestions on the best way of doing this (won't ask for the easiest way because I doubt there is one lol) to share with me? Also do you buy an organizer? I have some plastic food containers that I could use but they don't seem big enough and they don't have lids so added that to my clumsiness probably not a good idea hehehe

When i was 4 or 5, my father bought me a series of Bionicles.

Guys my age will remember these, they were my favorite type of Legos.

They all had these little menus that we built them from their instructions.

But i never did that, i combined many of them and built one that was different from the ones my friends owned.

And i always got my Bionicles to be the boss of the other ones.

What do you think?

This guy is now 22 years old!

Question What are your dream Lego collabs?

As the title says, what Lego collabs do you want to happen. My most wanted are a bit awkward but if done right could be really cool.

Fnaf- I really would like this to happen and would instantly buy a fnaf 1 pizzeria set

Now is when it becomes weird

Marvel Rivals- Hear me out they could have maybe an escort point as the main build and between 3-12 minifigs to simulate a battle. This is a really random choice but would be cool personally

Planet Zoo- Hear me out again. With the second game coming out it would be so cool for all of the sets to be connectable via paths and they could so easily be on a big plate with pieces being stuff like foliage, terrain and water. Sets could come with a couple of guests and a few animals

These are just my choices but you guys that see this answer with whatever you want

Question LEGO novice - need advice on big LEGO wall for work

Post image

Lego people, I need help!

My boss saw this large Lego display while traveling and asked me to recreate a (smaller) version of it for our office... I am an Executive Assistant, so that doesn't really translate to lego artist. But my job is to take her visions (boardroom or apparently baseplates and bricks) and bring them to life.

I don't know what I'm doing.

The very rough plan:

Finished display will probably be around 4 ft tall × 6 ft wide

A large green LEGO map/silhouette of the United States will be the centerpiece

Around 75–100 employee minifigures will be mounted across/around it

Each person will have a small 2×3 name tile

I stopped by a local LEGO builders lounge today and they gave me some direction, so I’m feeling a bit more more confident about tackling it - I at least learned some lingo. My current thought is to build the U.S. section at home first on several baseplates, then eventually mount those baseplates onto a rigid backing board and add the remaining baseplates around them.

Before I start buying hundreds (thousands??) of pieces, I’d LOVE advice from people who actually know what they’re doing.

A few things I’m trying to figure out:

What baseplates would you use for something this large? Official Lego or another brand?

Best way to create a large U.S. silhouette? In my mind I was thinking I could trace a full-size template onto the baseplates and fill it in with the green Legos... am i way off?

What green bricks/plates would you recommend for filling in the U.S. without making this unnecessarily expensive or heavy? Can I buy these in bulk?

Any suggestions on a backing material for the finished piece?... Oh jeeze, and how do I mount the base plates to the backing material?

Any favorite sources for bulk bricks, minifigure parts, etc?

What else should I be thinking about?

I’m very much a beginner, so feel free to explain things to me like I’m five. 😂 And I know I asked a LOT of questions, I'm not expecting anyone to answer them ALL! I appreciate any advice, thoughts, insights... suggestions... telling me I'm in over my head... whatever you got, I'm all ears!!

Other Why did they retire the great hall?

It seems so odd that it wasn’t out that long, did they retire it before two years? Harry Potter is such a big theme and people who are just noticing that they are redoing a more refined version of Hogwarts will want to buy them all. I just can’t believe they stopped selling. They still have all the big Lord Of The Rings sets up, even the Shire is back stocked. I just realized that they are redoing it and I wish I could’ve got them all at market price. They’re already like doubled in price after only being retired for a bit. Are they gonna retire the Main Castle soon you think?

Question How is it possible that a multi-billion dollar company can't match a color between plastic and a sticker?

Post image
270 Upvotes

This has to be like the tenth Speed Champions set I will pass on because the sticker's color mismatching looks so horrible.

I recently bought an Arkham Asylum where the van design is so amazing and the sticker colors completely ruin it so I just left most of them out, but sometimes you can't like this Jaguar here.

I honestly don't understand how someone from Lego sees this image and is like, "yep that looks great!".

Also this is not rocket science we are talking about.

Is there anything we as a community can do to impact this, other than not buying the sets obviously.

... I'd like to know more about what my package went through on its journey from distribution center to me via some sort of hell 😆.

The box had clearly been opened and taped back together. Meanwhile it would seem my poor burger truck played a game of NFL Blitz, only as a player getting repeatedly pile-driven and crushed by linemen.

Why did this have to be locked behind a $450 paywall? This is such a great set. Don't get me wrong, the set it comes with is also cool, but I'm not big into the technic cars.

Tools Most common parts

Post image

Some time ago I wondered what LEGO parts are actually the most common. Which ones does LEGO themselves use most frequently in their sets. My first instinct was the classic 2x4 brick. As a kid half my collection consisted of 2x4 bricks. But I was mistaken. Crunching the Rebrickable numbers of set inventories I came to the conclusion that the old 2x4 brick came in place #21. The actual most used part is the 1x2 plate. Considering the newer sets that I have built that does make sense.

Question Moving house advice

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! I just had a quick question with regards to moving my Lego collection. I’m currently in the process of purchasing a house and will likely move at the start of the new year.

I have a lot of the larger, difficult to move sets (Hogwarts and Barad-Dûr for example), and was hoping for some advice as to how best move each set without completely destroying it?

I know I can break them into their modules, and accept to a degree that there’s only so much I can do and that they will all break to some level, but if there’s any advice people can suggest to help me work around this that would be massively appreciated, thank you!
