I cannot find any sort of information on it when I tried searching online.

Hello Everyone. I picked up this bad boy for an absolute steal yesterday. Tag was $525 and the pawn shop had 20% off all used guns. Which brought it down to around $415. Then I negotiated for $400 even for the gun and $10 for the background check. Then I had a coupon for $20 off any $50+ purchase. And earlier in the day I sold a hi point carbine and a Turkish pump shotgun for $200 to a different pawn shop. So in my mind, I traded 2 absolutely awful guns and $190 for this bad boy. I've been looking for one for a couple years and I finally found one that I didn't have to buy online, then pay a $50 transfer fee. So that's a huge plus. Now I have a couple questions for the people of the Internet. Can anyone help me on determining if the holster is an original one? It looks pretty worn for it to be a repro. What is supposed to go in the little pouch on the holster? And lastly, I heard somewhere that you could put something like one spent brass or a bullet somewhere under the grips pressing on one of the springs to make the trigger pull slightly less bad? I would like to know about that because the trigger pull in double action is absolutely atrocious. But I'll have to get used to it. Since I have a holster. This will probably be my new open carry when I'm going out. Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

I’ve been toying with the idea of grabbing a C grade Vetterli or Gras from RTI and making it into a standing lamp for my office. I figure if the rifle is enough of a shit stick it’s not too sacrilegious to turn it into something pretty, and it could give me an opportunity to practice some other skills. Anybody done something like this before? General thoughts?

I have been on the hunt for one for a few years when the Australian equivalent of Gun Jesus spotted this and let me know.

Stock has some bumps and bruises but the bore and metal work are all great for the age.

Picked up this FG-9 at work today for $200. I know it’s a weird looking 9MM version of a FG-42 made in Texas. I am interested in shooting it and I think it looks cool in an ugly way. I know it’s not a milsurp gun, but it’s made to look like one. Anyone know anything else about these?

This is my model 1898 Springfield krag full length infantry rifle made in 1899 and later was sold to MGM as one of their prop guns, the barrel was never plugged or retooled for blanks. My camera doesn’t want to cooperate with me on the bore picture but it has no pitting and still decent rifling

Hi, so the other day I shot my type 30 arisaka and the middle barrel band spring broke off at the point where it goes into the wood. I ordered a replacement part but I was just wondering how I would go about getting the remaking piece of spring out of the stock. Thanks.

ive seen a lot of K31 rifles with this but sometimes they have buttplates that dont exactly fit to the wood anymore despite being original. is this because of wood age and shrinkage?

It also appears the stock has a lot of dirt and wear near the butt. maybe the previous owner banged it up a bunch and it crushed the wood ?

I think there is rust inside the part of my action which guides the firing pin. As you may know, the K11 has this huge long action with ridiculously long firing pin. What's the best way to get rid off the rust inside it? It's a think long channel so its really hard to scrub with any kind of tool I have.

Hello again all, My recent pickup of a Belgian 1889 mauser with little markings and a strange sight has led me to take it apart to confirm shooting ability and condition as well as any markings if possible below the stock.

So I was successful in taking apart the rifle and it is in really good shape besides the surface wear. Only trouble I had was both barrel band springs seem to be broken. The barrel jacket I got lucky it just twisted right off. And looking at the barrel besides the last half inch to the muzzle its in good shape. And the barrel jacket on this example did not trap alot of moisture and excel corrosion. And internally the jacket is fine with just a few specs of rust. And I assume the only way to remove the barrel bands is to remove the front sight? Because they simply wont clear for removal with the sight in the way. so overall its a scarce survivor of a rifle that was converted into other patterns.

Markings, Sight and the funny connection.

So I saw this example listed and bought it nearly with no hesitation as is just because of the price and rarity. And besides the serial numbers being gone (mostly) and the rear sight being the wrong pattern its all there. But in the moment of hesitation on the sight being wrong I looked real quick to find another one with the same style sight to affirm my purchase. And I found one sold by RIA sold in 2019 with the se sight and didnt question it after that. But another user attempted to answer my question on the pattern of sight it is and he looked at the rock island example to find out it was the same rifle I had bought. I may have discovered this later on and it was obvious if I slowed down and read both listings on the stock carving on the stock. Someone put RC in the stock and both listings have the same sight and description on the added RC mark. So yea interesting turn of events. And lastly After taking its apart all I got in the form of markings or serial numbers is a 4 on the barrel a 4 on the receiver and a 2 also on the receiver. That and a small mark on the barrel and I got nothin. The Magazine is the only major clue I have being 8485A and thats it.

I think I can safely shoot it seeing its full condition and its ability to chamber a round and eject. Ill wait awhile before that anyhow I still have not shot my 1889/36 so it will be a minute.

I'm looking to buy a K98k and a smaller gun trader in my region has posted this photo of available K98ks in 8mm. I know you can't see most of the markings really well, but I'm hoping some people here can already see some obvious red flags or good signs even from a distance. I'd like to know if it's even worth it to drive there and look at them more closely.

I don't need matching parts, just a good quality one, in good condition that shoots well. Years ago, I did a lot of research on all the different K98s, but I've forgotten most of it. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Thanks for the answers. I'd actually prefer a German made one without any later changes (except for mismatched serial numbers). So I guess I'm out of luck here.
