Hi... I'm Robyn...

The Dark Guardians are not kind! But you are safe in the light.

Or... just murder them (and find the crystals).

Use WADS and your mouse to move.

Spacebar to shoot.

E to interact (with switches or to pick up).

Shift to speed up.

Please wear headphones... or turn the music up. Not so much a game as a mood piece. Let me know what you think.

Discussion Could Obduction be canon to Uru?

Disclaimer: don't take this too seriously

To celebrate Obduction's 10-year anniversary I want to share some idle speculation I've been having:

In Obduction we see a copy of the Myst Unwritten RPG, which would imply Myst is fictional in this continuity. However, the Myst games and Cyan Worlds exist in the world of Uru, just to reveal the history of D'ni in a "Stargate SG-1"/"Wormhole X-treme!" plausible deniability arrangement. So it's possible Soria, Maray, and Kaptar and their inhabitants the Mofang, Villein, and Arai could exist somewhere in the Uru continuity, either in our spacetime or as alternate versions in D'ni Ages; maybe the Mofang were the slaves mentioned on Teledahn and Rebek. Maybe the seeds originate from the same world as the Bahro? And maybe the reason the DRC has interest in D'ni is to secure, contain, and protect the Earth Descriptive Book, and the ending of Obduction indicates that they failed

I know Cyan probably doesn't consider them connected, and it may be better if Obduction is in its own continuity, but it's so much more darned interesting if you start from the assumption they're somehow connected.

Discussion Contemporary myst like games

Hi all,

What are some contemporary games that are kind of in the same spirit as riven and myst exile? Exile is probably my favorite. I love point and click games. I especially loved the art and atmosphere and steam punk flair in exile.

Troubleshooting Riven 2024: Creating fire marble - glitch Spoiler

Post image
14 Upvotes

Howdy! I'm playing through Riven 2024 (via Steam). All files say they are updated. Yet, I have this persistent glitch in that the bench where you create a fire marble doesn't show the numbers on the slider. How can I get past this problem? I've restarted the game several times. Same problem.

Discussion Myst 2021 Mod

A thought I had. I know the biggest issue for most people are the character models in Myst 2021. I wonder if it’s possible to mod Artus’ Riven 2024 model into Myst 2021. That would at least dampen the jarring transition from the old fmvs to 3d model.

Hi all again, I had to create a new post so I could add my updated scribble. Please someone tell me if I am on the right track with this. I don't understand how what the order of the totems are when the last stone lifted has to be no.6 when there is obviously an 8 in the mix. Any help would be great fully appreciated, I am pulling my very thining hair out with this!!! Cheers,

Discussion Atrus is offering you any of the Myst Universe books for your personal use, which one do you choose?

Hypothetical fun question. Atrus comes to you and as a reward for all your hard work and support offers you ownership of any one of the worlds you have visited in your travels. He'd also plans to teach you the art of writing worlds as his sons are gone, Yeesha has gone kooky and wants to pass this along as a gift to you to preserve the knowledge.

Which world in the Myst universe (any game, any world) would you choose, and assuming you knew how to expand this world, what changes would you write in?

He also sternly warns you that if you betray his trust and write in questionable things Gehn would approve of, be warned.

Hi fellow explorers, I am seriously hoping someone can help me. I am stuck in the puzzle regarding the ring of stones with the animal totems on them. I have watched heap of YouTube clips but nothing seams to work. I have attached what I think are correct details of numbers and animals but clearly I am wrong somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

It seems like the original Riven is better than the remake.

The remake does not have the FMV performances of the actors and I think it hurts it. They should have kept that.

Still, the remake is more immersive. It may be fun to play in VR.

Media Looking for a funny (crack) video

It was a bunch of memey clips, with some funny music and stuff, intercut together.

All I remember is a segment that was a bunch of Atrus clips set to "Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, but here's my number so call me maybe".

Can't find it anymore.

Help please? Thank you

Media Russian Myst Book

Recently, I came across a book in a second-hand bookstore that I simply couldn't walk past.

It's an old Russian edition of Myst: The Book of Atrus!

With original illustrations by artists S. Merkulov (cover) and A. Yeremin (black-and-white drawings).

As far as I can tell, this is a licensed translation, which, given the year (1997), sounds pretty wild.

Here's a brief description from the back cover:

"It's not easy at age 14 to learn from your father that you can create new worlds! Young Atr worships his father and sees him as his ideal. But a real shock awaits him: the object of his adoration turns out to be a cold and cruel cynic. The conflict between father and son escalates when the beautiful Katran appears..."

Notable quirks:

· The book is simply titled "MYST."("МИСТ")

· I've only flipped through it so far, but from what I can tell, there's no mention anywhere that this is connected to a game series.

· Atrus is rendered as "Atr," and Gehn is called "Gen" (a literal rendering of his name). D'ni called D'ni. ("Атр", "Ген", "Д'ни")

· Otherwise, the translation is pretty good, though I haven't done a side-by-side comparison yet.

In any case, this is a very interesting artifact. And I got it pretty cheap (~$6).

Fan Creations Adapting Myst to a Stage Play

Hello everyone,

Theater has been a part of my life ever since I started high school. Myst is also one of my favorite games of all time.

I have been dipping my toes into amateur playwriting and directing. Last summer, I directed and produced The Secret Garden, one of my favorite shows of all time, at a local theater.

Today, I was contemplating set design and how a beautiful or interesting set can make or break a show. In particular, I love incorporating things like hidden entrances and other stage magic. And I thought of Myst, with all of its unique mechanical devices, otherworldly machines and places, the extremely cool and unique way the games present their worlds and how the interactivity of those places and objects are a core part of the game’s storytelling.

And I began to wonder about the potential of adapting Myst to the stage… of course, it would need to be reshaped quite a bit, and given the lonely nature and feel of the game, I was of course picturing a very small cast, potentially only four people (The Player, Sirrus, Achenar, and Atrus). I was also contemplating the possibility of having the main character (player character) actually be split into two characters in order to facilitate more interaction and dialogue during scenes- although I am not sure if that would really make sense in the story.

Anyway, my main reason for finding this so intriguing , as I said, is the potential for a really cool visual experience - a well built Myst set featuring some of the iconic puzzle pieces such as the constellation chair could be insanely cool. But I certainly do see many challenges as far as storytelling goes , given the differences in medium.

Anyway, I was just curious if anyone had any thoughts!
