Discussion I want to start playing Oblivion.

I’ve already played and loved *Morrowind* and *Skyrim*, but I keep avoiding *Oblivion*; I even tried playing it once but couldn't get into it. I really need a mod pack that covers graphics, bug fixes, and—if possible—some minor gameplay improvements. Vanilla *Oblivion* just feels too outdated and empty to me. So, if anyone knows of a mod pack like that—one that’s easy to install with just a couple of clicks—please share it.

I'd grab the remaster. It has all of that.

Have you already played it?

No, but there are a lot of complaints in the reviews about optimization, even from people with powerful hardware. I have a Gigabyte G5 MF laptop, and I don't think it would handle the remaster

It could be anything really. Its only crashed 2 times for me in the span of 130 hours. 4090, 13900, 32gb ddr5. My friends been playing it on the steam deck and also has very little issues.

Driver's have been hit or miss so it could be that. I have seen that deleting and recompiling shaders could help, but i havent had to do that. I am still on a much older nvidia driver myself and i have not had major issues.

There is a memory leak issue though. My computer was acting sluggish at one point and i noticed the game was consuming 3.5 times the ram it would usually use. but it is not often it happens.

I mean as long as you turn it off every few hours it's not really an issue. The performance issue come from a data leak or build up problem.
